William Shatner

As much as I enjoy the voice acting of Leonard Nimoy, I will admit I miss William Shatner's voice in STO. Did anyone from STO try to contact Shatner? Did he flat out refuse, want too much money, or not want anything to do with it?

I'd wager it is more because Kirk is dead (Generations) by this time, whereas Spock is not. Having Kirk talk to you wouldn't make much sense.

That is unless it was in a mission that takes place during his time period and involved the Enterprise A. *hint hint*

Unless you went back in time - like City on the Edge of Never.

I'd love to hear Bill in game!

The first Captain (not counting Pike in the pilot), starred in 7 movies, wrote a lot of novels of ST....Nimoy and he are the living legends of ST.

Now, he could have asked for too much money, or it could have been a J.J. thing, where they wanted him but couldn't fit him in (since Spock is still "alive", don't ask me how he's talking to us from the alternate universe).

If at all possible, I'd love to have him in-game, even if it's just a few missions. Sadly, I don't think we will have him with us for that much longer, given his age.

Other actors would be great, Patrick Stewart, John Frakes, Brett Spiner, I'd love to hear some of the old actors that are still around while we have a chance, like Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, George Taeki (spl.)....the list goes on and on.

Edit: we could find a data disk or recording leading us along with Kirk's/ other TOS peoples voices on it to solve the problems with him/them being dead, or time travel....a lot of ways.

Yeah would have loved Kirk's voice there. Always felt odd Spock was talking during that. (Though I do realize why that was the case)

I know that you can't use likenesses of actors with the characters. What about voice impersonator's? I mean if they don't call themselves by their character names does that still apply? If you heard Picard's voice but he didn't say who he was does that still count?

I think some people would really like to hear the intro to the show. When they log in. Space the final frontier. Others wouldn't. I mean plenty of people want to here the voices. I would think it would really be expensive. Hiring the real actor's. So impersonator's would be cheaper.

I don't think some would want the impersonator's though.

Well.....no offense to them...but how much would someone like Nichols or Koenig really demand (Uhuru and Chekov)?

The only ones I can really see asking for (and getting) big bucks are Shatner and Stewart...maybe Frakes.

The only "impersonators" I'd want are Karl Urban (Bones) and Simon Pegg (Scotty), just because there is no other options.

Put me down as +1 for getting Shatner involved. Kirk is my favorite Captain, the Enterprise Refit/Enterprise A my favorite Enterprise, and ST6 my favorite movie. He wasn't in the JJverse, even though they could have found a way to get him there (there are at least two novelizations of Kirk's reincarnation, both plausible in the ST universe), and I was disappointed with that, and I'd absolutely love him to show up in STO.

Well....he might just want to do it to be Kirk one more time, so he might accept less than what he could...see it with ball players all the time at the tail of their careers, who just want to play another year.
Lived in Seattle most of my life, and we got Griffey back for peanuts....the guy didn't do it for money alone.

I'd bet that Simon Pegg would do a voice over in exchange for a lifetime sub - it seems he's a fanboi at heart

LeVar Burton, Whoopi Goldberg, Armin Shimmerman, Denise Crosby all could have potentially been used in-game, and all could have asked for quite a bit. (You opened the door with Frakes).

Having Shatner do voice over on at least one mission and including the Enterprise A sounds cool to me.

It also could be money. Shatner isnt known for taking a small paycheck.

Well. We can dream. That'd be 100 different flavors of awesome.

And it would mandate a "Shaun of the Borg" easter egg.

if i had 600 million id do it for free. it would actually be more more just cashing the cheque than getting paid nothing.

it would be cool to hear his voice. probably does mean another time travel episode but if its a as cool as city on the edge of never then im all for it

or maybe a holodeck episode. id also like to hear Patrick Stewart in game, as his voice is suitable epic.

Nimoy has retired or something and he may not be available anymore for more voice overs. Shatner would be a good replacement.

Spock is dead in our STO universe, having been sucked into a black hole he created, just like Kirk is dead, except for his echo in the Ribbon. So having Kirk's voice in the game wouldn't be implausible.

Guinan did say you never quite leave the ribbon; there is always a "piece" of you in there. This could be addressed in-game through a mission (Kirk comes back; I think Shatner would love that actually) or just a straight voice-over narration.

IMO, I think Nimoy retiring would not preclude "easy" assignments if he had the time to do them in his "spare-time". Given his stated retirement, he still had a company/venture with actor John Delancey, what has (or will) become of that? Nimoy will also focus on his photography, but I can't quite see this hobby as being done solely for himself; in other words, I suspect he may publish/promote his pictures either through gallery showings or books of his collected works. So, Nimoy quite possibly still be in the public light, even if it for another reason.

I could not agree more! Since when did the First Officer start hailing ships for the Captain in TOS??? Was Kirk in sickbay or something? Ugh, that is the one thing that sucked about that episode - otherwise I loved it! :D

According to Shatners blog, or twitter, it was a few months, when one of my friends asked him why he was not doing STO, he informed us that he was not approached, and would of done it for free.

What about Brent Spiner or Robert Picardo? Data and the Doctor are the only canon characters confirmed to still be active in STO.

Frankly, any new voices at all would be a step in the right direction. The game has an eerie silence to it when it comes to vocalizations.

IDK about Picardo, with him involved in Stargate, but I wouldn't mind either of them. However, none of that takes away from wanting Kirk in this game in the worst way.
