WTF gives when you almost breeze through the earlier parts of a mission episode as a "Captain" (eg Tears of the Prophet) only to come to the penultimate battle and face impossible odds and continually get your TRIBBLE kicked without help from more than one other player (thanks Rads!).

I mean sheesh!

Was this a space or ground mission?

    What weapons were you using?

Did your boffs have a mix of expose and exploit weaponry?

Both. Like one of those episodes. A multi part mission in the Cardassian system.

I have always had difficulty in several types of missions where the enemy can create more opponents for you. Such as the Reman that create those extra purple transparent guys and the Cardassian that drops a holographic projector to create more holographic guys.

The Cardassian leader has to be killed first and then you have to kill the holographic projector to despawn those extra holographic guys. If you kill the holographic projector first the leader just makes a new one which respawns any of his holographic guys you might have killed already.

Both. Like one of those episodes. A multi part mission in the Cardassian system.

Here are some general tips that might help ease ground boss fights:
Vary weapons between away team members: some should have expose, other exploit
Vary positions: having BOFFs on one side of a mob and you on the other can help (sometimes you should stick together). Flanking gives a huge bonuses but sometimes leaves you open for flanking against mobs.
Hyposprays/Batteries are you friend. YOu can make some on your ship before you beam down for the ground portion.
Some weapons do better against enemy shields (i.e. Tetryon) while some are best against health/hull (Plasma).

If you know what enemies you're going up against, you can even put consoles to mitigate their damage.

For example, Borg use plasama weapons and Klingons use Disruptors. There are hulls that can reduce their damage (by up to 20% at RA).

I could give more advice but I'd need to know you build: skill point distribution, boff powers, items, etc.
