Hi guy's this is Nooge@Mayantempest i would like to introduce a couple of idea's to the creaters of PvP gameplay.
Now remember these are just idea's not something to be trolled.
#1. Make a map where there are object's that can be highly monoverable arround like for example the earthdock space station in SOL something fun to chase ppl arround and beable to use LOS= Line of sight.
#2.Make it to where there are 2 teams Red and Blue like FvF but to where it is Joint Fed and klingon's on both sides mixed teams to where you never know the outcome of team makeup and to where both sides can pvp amongst eachouther. The reason i think this would be a great idea is there are a large number of fed's Vs. small numbers of Klingon's in this game. Also the reasoning of all the agro/hate both factions get on the subject of being overpowered.I think working together would be a great option and fun for the ppl that are getting board with this game and highly annoyed.
#3 Make ranking system like the game Classic "World of warcraft" the game may be a sad game as of late but the idea they had of an arena based pvp was an ok idea But the classic ranking system of titles and rewards based on points and rank per week would be a great idea for STO in a matter of principal.
here are some reward possabilities.
#1 Vanity items
#2 Epic items
#3 special hypos and outher means of useable items for pvp use.
#4 maybe special BO officers
#4. Also could introduce later on a Fleet Vs. Fleet arena as it gets larger.
#5. Capture and Hold's could use a buff you get from sitting on nodes to capture if alone or in numbers of 2 or less for faster capture or a buff for increased rewards at end of match for participating in the objective's.
#6 make a map that has a loot system to gather and turn in items for the use of increasing shields and dmg or regeneration for team players on the team.must be a battle match with bases and respawn points. to capture and hold.create junctions that are covered my mines and turrets or gas clouds that need to be monuvered arround so that you cant just fly through open space also at these points perception on stealthed ships need to be increased int he area.FUN
Working on more idea's plz write back if you are interested or have any idea's to add. ty just some idea's that i thought id throw out there

I like all of the ideas except the arena. On the contrary, there was a large majority against the arena system in WoW. A majority of the players preffered the old BG ranking system (old-school WoW) which is why they are bringing that back in the new expansion.
Arena would even further devastate the game, because everyone would be rolling cookie cutter I win builds, and everyone who doesn't would be screwed, furthermore just so have people be interested in it at all youd have to have rewards for doing arena, which is another cause of the problem. They would have to be vanity rewards or your back at the same problem. If they are gear or anything affecting actual gameplay, people will quit, a lot of people will quit.
I can however see a similar implimentation of the ranking system, since their are already BG type environment PVP in STO already.
Remember not everyone is forced to particapate in arena it's something that is chosen to do. maybe in the reasoning of making it a ranking reward for each ranking so everyone gets something. more feedback plz ty great feedback.

Yes, but you were proposing a system like WoW, they scrapped the BG ranking system and replaced it with the arena. So the only way to get even remotely the best PVP gear was through Arena, forcing anyone who even wanted to succeed in BGs and didn't care about arena, had to arena themselves...That is why the reward cannot be anything other than vanity.
There changed the arena part of it. dont remember exactly how classic wow was ran but i did participate just been along time lol.I loved how it was ran.

The old pvp reward system in wow was simnply TRIBBLE, and pretty much rewarded not having a real life in the first place, as it was nothing else but time consuming and not even slightly in any way dependant on how well a player could actually play the game.
Seeing so many former grandmarshalls struggle to perform decent in arenas back then when the arenas were introduced was an amusing sight however.
The arena reward system at least introduced a slight "skill" dependancy to the game's reward system.
Good point but to the individual, both ideas arena for those that like competition and the outher idea for those that dont like pvp arena and want to just pvp globaly and be noticed for there efforts in daily pvp. now arena would be nice for those that would like a reward for being the best but untill the game progresses to a point in time of ballence and happyness for all in base pvp i belive that arena should be set for a later date.my personal opinion
Arena would be awsome as would ranking title pvp with rewards.
ty for your feedback love the individual oppinions.
there are a lot of good too excellent ideas out, this being also one with some good components.
Although it seems that u base most of ur ideas on other MMO's that did work for them, I somwhere get the feeling ur not a STO PvP veteran, this could be misguided ofcourse.
One aspect I do like very much and have not seen much in other posts, is the colllaboration between factions.
I seriously have NO clue why it takes this long for Cryptic to realize u need mixed teams to even do Khitimor accords for example, or Undine Terradome. Getting a Klingon Pug group is difficult at best most days.
So, kudos for sharing ur ideas here with us and hopefully Devs will take notice and realize their PvP players are the glue to our STO.
Ty for your feedback my only outher MMo is Warcraft 3 and worldofwarcraft and first person shooters now on the subject of my ideas they derive from things i see that need to be changed to make this game last longer mixed teams i weigh heavy on i have both BG5 and RA 5 toons i have played everyday to the extent of finding every flaw and try to figure out anyway possable to make it more fun for myself and outhers.
I play pvp with a team in Ventrilo on both Klingon and Fed and we share idea's highly all the time looking for anything we may see that might help the game.this is what i have wanted to bring to the attention of the DEV's and get more competition rolling the basic pvp that we have atm is just to borring and well sad. Also we play daily in PVE content all 3 instances we also look for things to make it more interesting in that perspective but at this time i think PvP is where we need to attend are attention to.
Need more feedback ty so much also some idea's would be great just incase the DEV's decide to take a look at this threat TY

Thinking the system was TRIBBLE is your opinion. However the rest is simply inconsistent from the real game, which leads me to believe you never really played it, or got destroyed so much in BGs you gave up on the ranking system. I however, was a player able to not only get GM with 2 characters, but also reach Gladiator with them in 2 different seasons. So another naive and inconsistent statement...
All classes were able to get GM and were seen as having GMs in the old system, not only that it only took a couple months at hardcore play, and only a few more at a more casual base. So rinse and repeat...
However, in arena, it has always been dominated by 2 classes. These classes sometimes change along the times, but there are classes still that have no way, and never had a chance at succeeding in arena without being "carried" there.
The proper choice for Blizzard would have been to implement arena but NOT scrap BG ranking. At the same time had both top rewards for each be exactly the same.
Still no skill involved in arena, if any much less. FoTM based vs Time consuming based. I'd take Time consuming.
agree but lets keep this about STO lol. i was a player everyseason that played in the top 5-10% everyseason with a Resto shaman. But still let's kick some fed and klink butt woot.
Ty for your feedback lets rock and roll. feel free to PM me ingame at
Nooge@mayantempest or S'ydronot@mayantempest if you have any questions or comments not towards this thread long time love ya all hope to see you in PvP><
Not to the extent or anywhere near the extent arenas would propagate.

How is my statement inconsistent, when in fact a whole ton of backpaddeling keyboardturning grandmarshalls fell on their back and struggled hard to just even stick around the 1500 rating when arenas started?
At no point did i say all of them did, i actually knew and grouped with at 2 to be GMs in my grind time, that happen to be great players, but that doesn't change the fact that i saw significantly more GMs that just plain sucked balls.
Lucky for you if reaching GM was not as time consuming (and time consuming only) on your seemingly less competative or populated server, as it would have been for me, as it would have meant app. 12+ hours every day of pure bg grinding for weeks to keep up against the other lifeless players on the server that aimed for GM.
I made it up to rank 13(i was lucky to have the free time back then and stupid enough to not do anything worthwhile with it), where i stopped the madness, as i did not need a weapon anyways and were in it only for the armor set.
I also had my fair share of gladiator titles, btw in other brackets than in 2s, which seems to be the only bracket you have ever played, at least thats the only way i could explain your statement about 2 classes domination.
And even though arenas were more or less comp-dependant(more or less depending on the season and bracket), i have seen players of all classes reach gladiator titles, and whatever you say, arenas did at least involve a certain amount of skill to be succesfull.
While the old bg titles just were a timesink, and some GM even botted pretty much the whole way...
I seriously hope a pvp reward system that rewards for not being in a job/not going to school/just being without any form of real life in general, will not be introduced to STO or any other mmo in the future again.

A. It is inconsistent and I already explained why. You just reiterated exactly why as well.
B. I played on Illidan which for the longest time held top PVP, Battleground, and Battlegroup competitiveness, it even kept near the top 5 realms after arenas were introduced to present.
So again back to A.
C. I did not only play 2s, back to A again. I played all brackets because even in a 2 class fotm you know, it is possible for there to be more than 1 player of each class right? lol. Ever think of 3 Warlocks and 2 Shamans in a 5s team? There is an example right there. Back to A, yet again
D. I was able to get GM in a relatively short period of time and was not completely hardcore at that time.
E. Arenas required no skill, if anything negative skill if that is even possible. It was abused by FOTM consisted teams, and only a few that had a few non FOTM still were successful. However mostly as I said the couple classes that were never successful, got carried. Being an "Arena Glad veteran" you'd know what carried means. Back to A.
F. You only made it up to rank 13, when the final rank was 14. Sounds more like the underlying cause to your emotional state on the subject is motivated by either the system being removed before you had/felt you had time to reach the final rank, or you are just a quitter.
........
I'm done debating this..lol
Again good suggestions OP, keep it up.

Whatever server you played at, the amount of time you have had to sacrifice to make it to rank 14, is determined by the amount of time your competitors in the title-race were willing to invest, so if you incist on not having had to play "completely hardcore" and only investing little time, either a. your server must have been pretty uncompetative during that period of time, b. you just talk ********, or c. you try to play down or simply didnt realize the great deal of time that you sank into achieving that goal.
I personally begin to think b is the right answer here.
Your whole statement about 2 class domination, and assumption about how even in 5s 2 classes were dominating doesn't even make sense, as the most succesful 5s setups during several seasons in that bracket consisted of mostly 5 different classes, like 2345 2346 or eurocomp, just to name a few.
Though arenas are comp-dependant(impossible to avoid that in any mmo), still whatever fotm comp you played, you'd have to come by other players that played the same fotm comp and you'd have to come out on top, to actually consider yourself succesfull.
So to be succesful you needed a certain amount of skill still. I begin to think that you never have achieved glad or gotten even close to it, in any bracket, but instead just like to reapeat stuff from forums, to justify your lack of success in arenas to yourself...
I did already explain why i stopped at rank 13, you obviously fail at reading as much as you failed in arenas.

Np, But like I said I like the other ideas you had, and if they molded a similar old-school WoW ranking BG system into STO.
I also like the ideas other have brought forth of Open PVP specific sectors with player/fleet owned structures players/fleets can fight over.
Which ofc totally isn't already the case in STO...

Yea I apologize, I was part of the problem even if I did not start it.
Anyways I solved it quite some time ago:
