Normally I am a cryptic fan. I have defended various postions on this game to the point of getting well you know. However I am beginning to see a startling trend. Several threads that appropriately belonged in General discussion were moved to other areas. Areas that frankly would kill them. Interestingly a lot of these threads dealth with gameplay isssues or various concerns. With the welcme back weekend coming up it seems they are trying to clean up the area for the new people so it seems clean. So in the spirit of that I suggested a few threads that should also be moved. Aftera all we should help them out. Only to have that thred closed. What's interesting is that the threads I suggested were either posted by a dev or sticked by the moderaotrs. Hmm so player "off-topic" threads get moved but those posted or sticked by the cryptic team that are clearly off topic based on the standards set by the moderators moving threads are not.
Sorry guys but that reeks of supression. Either treat all threads the same including those posted by the Cryptic team or don't bother. You do not accompish anything by doing that but anger even more players. I really had no real problems with Cryptic until today.
Yeah before someone even throws it out there yes I realize it's their forums and they can do as they want. However, it is my right to state that the way it is being done reeks of suppression.
There I have said my piece. I am not intending to Troll or anything I simply think the way they are handling this is off base and wrong and I am pointing it out to them.
I appreciate you reporting the posts in the appropriate fashion
If you have feedback, keep it coming in the proper forums, and according to guidelines! Have fun in game. Once the dust settles, hopefully the incoming feedback will be more organized and more easily browsed, both by the players and the Cryptic team.

Players had no issue finding feedback when it was all in the one forum they visit. Now they have to go looking and to be honest? Who cares to do that? We already know what's broken, we just can't talk about it any more with other people because other people are in this forum
You haven't seen game forum suppression unless you were one of those who bought Battlecruiser 3000 AD. Most epic fail game launch in history, and they couldn't delete posts fast enough from their forums, it was quite amusing.
With a huge influx of players - I believe the CS team is trying to organize threads into specific forums they are watching so they can monitor fewer threads to help new players trying to use the Trial/Referral/Demo/Buddy keys.
For the sake of helping new players - this sounds like a much needed organization...
Comparing it to this game or that game doesn't really work too well. These forums are far more tolerant of criticism than nearly any other game forums I've participated in...but they're not as lenient today as they were yesterday, either.
I don't really mind the restructure, but it is a bit disingenuous to create new "feedback" forums when threads that compliment the game are allowed to stay in the main discussion forums...at least until they become overrun by people complaining about the game.

This will work if Cryptic Devs, GMs etc, will actually reply to things in the feedback forums. We tend to post in general because we quite frankly feel like our feedback is pretty much ignored in said feedback areas other than Tribble. Take the PvP forume for example, until Destra posted in one thread to keep the guidlines in mind and also moved a thread into there, it as been a ghost town as far as any interaction with the dev team.
So, if this is yall's way of saying your going to actually pay attention to the feedback forums, great I say. Its about time. But the cynic in me is thinking its pretty much just to sweep the dirt under the rug and forget about it. Please, prove me wrong.

New Money is more important than addressing existing customer's concerns, appearently.

I have no problem with this. I was just asking for cryptic created or flagged threads to be moved as well. That is all I wanted. Fairness.

Or, you could have opened up a Trial/Referral/Demo/Buddy keys sub-forum for the express purpose of helping those players while at the same time maintaining good will/good faith with the 'old' players who liked discussing Star Trek Online in the Star Trek Online Discussion sub-forum.

While I have no problem with a clean-up and restructuring of the forums (and I'm assuming that this is not a ploy to silence the masses, but I could be proven wrong), please at least give people a heads-up before doing so...or at least make an announcement somewhere. I didn't even know that a subforum was created until this morning.
EDIT: And I only found out about it after catching up on the RAF threads.

So your response to dsthal's response is that this response thing will only work if devs and employees like dstahl respond to the players when they post responses?
Luckily for dstahl, he's got a pretty long track record already of responding. In the appropriate forums for questions he fields.

Destra posted and stickied an announcement last evening in this forum. But I can definitely understand feeling that it wasn't enough warning, I'll see if we can't get better about that in the future.
The analogy doesn't work. The person who clicks the report button is not the forum god. They are more akin to a worshipper. And the button is more akin to a prayer.
Those that created the forums are more akin to god in this scenario. And the moderators are more akin to the clergey and/or seraphim who help organize the state of grace the worshippers are striving towards.

Huge influx of players. You mean huge influx of alt accounts opened for a single month so that people can purchase an alpha class ship for an insane amount of cash, right?
There aren't going to be very many new players to this game because of the referral program. Only bringing this game up to the state it SHOULD have been at launch will bring in new players. And the longer it takes, the less of an effect even doing the right thing will have.
Fleecegate won't bring in new players. In fact, it will probably drive more away than are really gained. But enjoy that nice 1 month "bubble" of "new subscribers".

Ah. That explains it, then. I usually skip the stickies. Carry on.

I think the GM is referencing this weekend. It's a special event. A Free to Play weekend. Which I believe is designed to attract a lot of new players to the game. Since, you know, if it's free, and the person has some time to kill ...
Many people on these forums don't appear to be happy unless they're complaining about something.
Most of you care nothing about what others find important to them, until it happens to you
But alas, these are private owned forums, they can do anything they want--its theirs.
We cannot wave the flag of freedom here, guys. Just use those braincells in the real world, where it matters to make a difference. I believe the childrens is the future.
I'd like to note that this rather critical thread hasn't yet been moved out of the main discussion forum, and is in fact smack-dab in the middle of the front page, with a DEV POST tag right on it, begging to be clicked on by anyone curious who's here for the first time. Jus' sayin'.
Remember, it's not Forum Necromancy until the thread drops off the front page.

Given that there is very little that has been added to the game content wise since even the earliest people who left (launch day+30) I think it will have negligible impact.
It's way too early to even try to entice people back. Maybe after Season 2.
In fact, a free "vet" trial right now might actually be a mistake, people may not give it a third look when Season 2 does come out.
The July season 2 update, IMHO, will make or break this game.

Odds are they'll be doing more Free weekends. Champions certainly has done a bunch.

Not seeing that. Free is free. People like free. If they're bored and it's free ... they will usually bite.

I thought Launch Day was make or break time? Or was it Season 1.0? I forget. There's been too many days that will make or break this game.

I think you are exaggerating things. Its not like if I wrote about [CENSORED] with a [CENSORED] while at the same time [CENSORED] all over the place you wouldn't think it was a conspiracy.

Is that the no-response response? Lol. At least take ownership of the fact that you're suppressing threads ripping on STO or Cryptic - regardless of their validity or format.

Lol. How many people do you think they will be able to get to even play a free trial? 10% of original subscribers? Probably more like 3%? The game broke when they released it w/o content or polish.

Now I can go back to playing. Have a nice day all.
They have to clean up the place, because this is their money maker.

You go on and keep spinning that Dan.
