I agree:(. I honestly thought STO was amazing up until I reached RA. STO did a lot of things right! This is the first MMO where I bothered to read NPC dialogue (because it was fun and entertaining!) Space combat encourages some thinking, compared to the point-and-mash-your-most-efficient-attack-until-it-dies found in most other MMO's. Seeing Star Trek references in the game were amazing as well! However, once I reached (the lack of) end game, I found no more reason to log in. Other than spending hundreds of hours on The Cure for gear that is 2% better than what you already have, there is no endgame whatsoever in STO, and that is the reason I haven't logged in in over a month. I feel like the shallowness of RPG aspects really kills this game (I do believe I bought an MMORPG. If Cryptic/Atari advertised it as an MMOFPS or MMORTS, I wouldn't mind so much)

I don't do the STFs on any of my RA5s.

I like doing the fleet actions, PvP and exploration missions on ludicrous difficulty.

End-game actually comes after RA10. The last 5 levels of the game aren't in yet, but will be added later in the year - I believe with Season 2 in July. The STFs are hold-overs to give you something to do beyond Exploration and PvP - they are STO's version of Raids. Cryptic understands some people find the STFs to be too difficult and are looking at making adjustments. They're also looking to expand team sizes past 5. It's just going to take some time.

Beyond that, though, I'm subscribed to 7 different MMOs, and have played dozens more over the last decade, and at level-cap there's never anything for players to do that doesn't involve Raids for Purples, PvP, sitting and waiting for more content, replaying old missions, or making a new character and starting all over again. That's just the nature of MMOs.

    +1

It seems like a lot of STO players are new to MMO (i.e. this is their first MMO) and expected more end game.

Most other games do have SOME more to do - i.e. like a true crafting system with multiple types (smithing, weaving, leatherwork, etc) which STO very much lacks. It is WAY too easy to max out "crafting" in STO and their really is no benefit other than better items for alts when you are leveling them.

But like you said the endgame for STO isn't THAT much differant to many other MMOs.

endgame at this point if ur a causual player is 3 pvp matches a day and the explore mission tokens
the taskforces are for guilds and players that got many hours to sit infront of the computer (wich isent for causual players) or solo players .

So basically you got 20mins of gameplay each day if you only do the pvp misisons , the exploration misisons are oki eaven at elite level but still its wery weak content....

When you reach Rear Admiral 5, you can resign your starfleet commission. You then hitch a ride on an Orion Freighter. To the Badlands. Once there you meet up with Jake Riker (the same Jake Riker from an earlier mission you did). And join the Mahquis. And start your end-game quest content. They're hard quests. With lots of rare items needed. Very rare items. But they're worth the trouble.

Klingons don't have this. Nor will they. But True Way Cardassians might get access to it.

We complained that STO was too easy.

They made the STF missions hard in response.

Perhaps, now that we have a difficulty slider, they can tone normal down a wee bit for the general population in the STFs. I have little trouble with them, but I'm in a fleet that has a lot of voice communication when running them. PUGs can be painful, however.

To be honest, the STOs aren't that hard compared to many other games' raid or end-game instances/battles. With some practice and good teamwork, Infected and The Cure can be done in about 45 minutes on average, and KA in two-three times that.

    Terradome on the otherhand...

As for not providing for the 'solo' players, I don't quite get the point of playing this game solo if it's an MMO. Why not just get another game like Starfleet Command at that point?

All we can do is cross our fingers and hope that the cap is increased and that more varied and fun end-game content is released in the future. :/
