Depends. How much will you sell your energy credits for?

it would be a poor taste joke based upon the idea that many buddy accounts are going to gold spammers.

Also i'm curious as to how you are posting without an active subscription. I was banned from posting the second my cancelled sub expired and was only able to post when I paid again.

Can any new account suddenly get posting rights now?

Honestly, you should check out the forums before you decide to play this game. It has disappointed a lot of people, and if you are looking for other sci fi MMO's there are other options.

Here are some helpful reviews that give a general idea of how the game is:

    http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/star-trek-online/1069983p1.html
    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/star-trek-online-review
    http://pc.ign.com/articles/106/1069985p1.html
    http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/startrekonline/review.html
    http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3177943

Hope this brings some greater insight to your MMO search. I write this under the assumption that you can come to your own conclusions. What have you played so far?

on the other hand, you shouldn't read in to everything that people are saying. always have an open mind, and find out for yourself. don't make choices on what people say., ( that includes me ) do it on how you feel. I recommended you try it out tomorrow and for the whole week end, but you are free to do what ever you want. :)

haha. Well then the OP has some explaining to do. Otherwise this may be an extremely poor attempt at stealth marketing.

    haha, 'dons tinfoil hat'

Perhaps they are concerned that there are thousands of unclaimed buddy keys and if they can get random folk to use them up it adds to the official numbers just before the next financial figures are submitted?

But I could not possibly subscribe to such a notion. Not until I'm sober at least ;)

oh yes he does, because zodi3.0 ( better then 2.0 but not as good as the first. ) didn't work, and I just made him. ( hoping it had to do with this week end. )

If you had an existing account before STO's Launch, it allows you to. I had opted in for the Closed and Open Beta back then, and i opted in for the demo.

Might be the case. Either that, or we've all left a nice little phaser burn mark on Cryptic's heart.

OP's account was just made today though. The weekend is to bring old players back. (was that his weekend?)

I'm at work now, but since its friday... I'll be sure to hang out with my friends Jack, Jose, and Captain Morgan tonight. It'll be a jolly time, I'm sure. Plus, there's a new club opening tonight... gotta track down the manager and see if we can become friends :p

Only the Illuminati possesses the power to speak openly in such a way, the end of the Western Civilization approaches, the signs are ripe. Look now upon the new Dark Age, and give this one a Buddy Key, it's apparently part of a most devious scheme planned before Pope Pious was born!

Also, one of these days i might draw up a comic strip of a Starfleet Officer with that name. Oh, and the interwebs will rejoice! and the net will just Awesome all over the place.

And ode to Star Trek Online:

This is Captain Patton McPillowbottoms of the United Federation of Genocidal Planets of the starship USS Loveboat. Normally I do not open hailing frequencies before firing phasers... but today I thought I would spice things up a bit.

"Shoot first, Shoot Next, Shoot again, shoot some more, then begin to find out what the hell is going on."

Yet i'll be flying a Nova Class as soon as i can get into the game.

    >_> I fly one in Bridge Commander. She's fun if you don't fly the nose of it into a Negh'var.
