Really slow patching.

Is anyone else experiencing issues with the game patching very slowly?

I've went to the CNET bandwidth meter to test my internets connection, and it's still a 3 meg connection,so the issue doesn't appear to be there, so I'm wondering if Cryptic is having issues in this area?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same issue and it just started today. Not sure if something is going on with the patching server or what it is.

I've been trying for over an hour and a half now, and the patch is just over 35% done .... yet I am not havign issues any where else. As a test, I went to microsoft and can download 30 Meg files in no time at all. Yeah, I know 30 meg is about 1/4 the size of the patch, but still.

the patcher uses port 7255 . if that port is filtered or blocked you will have problems patching. You can try using the patch by proxy option n the launcher to see if that improves that speed any.

also download nettest to check a sample of the ports the game required.
    The game use port 7000-7500
    Nettest:
    Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download this file and run it
A command prompt should appear running the test automatically

For good connections, column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate).

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. I have never had any issues patching from STO though, so I don't think any of this is gonna help. But, no harm in trying.

This was also my first time having issues like this. Nothing like this ever came up until now... not even in the beta. Don't think I did anything to mess it up. But I'll give it a try as well thanks.

Same problem here... I have downloaded patches of this size or larger in the past and only took a couple of minutes. This one is going on 10 minutes and only 11% done.

Are hordes of people downloading the demo and using up the same bandwidth that is used for patching?

If this is the case I am glad to see renewed interest in the game but a little disappointed that my paid subscription is being basically put on hold for an unpaid trial… I generally only get a few minutes in the evening to play and I’m afraid that time is going to run out before I even get a chance to log in this evening.
    :(

OK… I walked away for a bit and come back to find the patcher stuck at 25%. I closed it and start over… this time it goes to 6.9% and then freezes. Re-launch…7.5%. Re-launch…8.4%.

This is getting annoying pretty fast…

Any way we can get word from Cryptic on this issue???

“We are aware of the issue and working to resolve it.”???

“No problem here, must be your ISP or local network.”???

    Anything

On the plus side each time I re-launch the patch size decreases so at least it is retaining what I have downloaded so far. At this rate I’ll be able to play sometime tomorrow morning.

I'm having the same problem. It would be nice to know we've been heard and it's being worked on.

Currently switching to "Server Down" on me when it tries to START patching.

Fail. Not a good way to introduce yourselves to a demo audience, and as mentioned above a terrible way to handle your paid player base.
