I preordered STO through Direct2drive, so I ended up DLing the game from D2D. I also have a lifetime account.
heres my question. Is there any way you can order a Game Disc from Cryptic without Purchasing a new copy of the game? I only ask this because I am in the process of getting a brand new computer, and I really dont wanna have to redownload the entire game again. would take forever.

Devs, I'm askin you this!

I dont think so unless someone is kind enough to copy their disc's and send them too ya.

Might I suggest that most MMO's arent registry dependant meaning you should be able to transfer all the game files to a USB flash drive or External hard drive, then copy all the folders over to the new machine in the proper area, makes new shortcuts and vola. I cant tell you how many times I have done this with WoW to save the install time alone the download time.

Yes WoW, not STO but MMO's dont have to worry about piracy like single player games do, hence a lot less restrictive.

    Solution:

If you have an external drive or a way to network the machines, copy the entire Cryptic Studios folder over to the new machine. In that folder will be a STO launcher program. Make a short-cut to that program on your desktop. Launch and play.

Or you could try to copy them to a disk like a DVD but I wouldn't advise that because sometimes when you do that and then copy back, the permissions get screwed up. I haven't tried the DVD route with STO or CO but ran into the permission changing problem in other games copying the folder would work on.

It works with STO and CO. Done it already. Only thing is seems to be an issue with Vista/Win7 when copying from XP btw. Games seem to work better (if on the system drive) being in Users/Games directory instead of Program Files like XP.
