Petition: Move the CMO to your Ship

I'm sure some of you that fount on elite mode and eventually ran into some really overpowered mobs (which Cryptic has acknowledged), and got so banged up that you had to return to a Hub to get fixed by the CMO (expecially since Critical Kits are very rare and aren't sold at vendors). But having to run between the Hub and the Exploration area is too time consuming.

So I say that Cryptic should get rid of this run, assign one of your Science Officers as the CMO (as it should be) and have your own Doctor heal you on your own ship. (Even if there is still cost involved).

After all, how many times we saw in Star Trek that they had to run to a Starbase for medical attention?

    Fairly often actually.

You get the Medical Drops so that you can use them an not be forced to return to Sol quite as much. :)

The CMO and the necessity to travel to Sol to get healed is a bit of an unnecessary timesink to me. There are so many concessions made to facilitate MMO gameplay over realism already but this just pushes it a bit far for me. We can now replicate shield generators and entertainment provisions, why can't we do the same for components that heal? Make them cost 1.5x as much, if you must, Cryptic, but give us the option. Indeed, we can have access to the finest ships ever made by the Federation but not a one of them is crewed by a semi-skilled medico? Phooey.

Anyhow, if the drop rate on those medical items was a bit more liberal (I play on Advanced, maybe it's higher at Elite) this might not be such an issue. As it is, my rate of injuries slightly outpaces my rate of receiving healing items. Also, before the token response of "Play Normal then!" comes out, I don't suffer a ton of injuries, I just find it annoying when I do to have to stop doing fun things like running away from Swordmasters or Borg drones to head all the way back to Sol just to click a button or two.

    Hence, my post.

It's canon that a ship has to go back to Starbase to undergo serious repairs, but with serious Medical attention they simply went to Sickbay.

And instead of medical regenerators, Player and BO kits should repair Minor injuries, while Major and Critical ones require you to go back to your ship.

True, but how many Critical Medical Regenerators have you seen drop so far?

And how do you enjoy cluttering up your inventory space for these things? ;)

Indulge me. What episodes required that medical attention was so complicated that The Doctor, Dr. Crusher, Dr. Polasky, or Dr. McCoy had to take someone to a Starbase to get healed?

The only episode that comes close out of my recollection is Picard's Heart Transplant episode, which he did out of choice. In which he ended up having it done on the Enterprise-D anyhow.

It would be nice to have a CMO on your ship....make it cost more than the CMO on earthdock. If you want to save the money, great, trek to earthdock, if you want to get back into the action now, pony up some extra bones.

Hrm. Money sink? But surely, even at a mark-up to get and to continue to use, I highly doubt that's going to be enough. No, make having it be a quest reward.

I have no problem with it being a quest reward, but yes, having it on your ship should be a money sink, in comparison to ESD.
