A lot of people have seen this problem. Cryptic will tell you that there's something wrong with your hardware.
I doubt it. I've been through my hardware with a fine tooth comb and can't find anything wrong. I had no problems for about 2 weeks and after the last patch I started getting hogg errors again along with BSOD's on the video card drivers.

I'm taking the latest memory dumps to work and see if I can figure out why it crashed. There is an Nvidia office just down the block from my office. I may see if someone down there is willing to help with the memory. They may have access to the driver symbols. My best guess is that it's related to people with Nvidia cards and Asus motherboards. I run dual 8800 GT cards. I'm running the latest drivers, 197.45.

    Good luck!

I have the exact same problem, and been having it since the beta. Got also 8800 GT. From what I know reading all the posts here, switching back to 190.62 drivers helps, but it helped nothing with me. Also someone said to turn off antialiazing and putting shadows on low, but that did nothing either.

    Latest fatal error:

Fatal Error: Error decompressing data. Verifying Files in the launcer
    may fix this issue.

    Technical Details: ./piggs/texture3.hogg:
    Texture_Library/Costumes/Avatars/Civilian/M_Belt:Civbelt_01_N.Wtex:
Error decompressing data. Verifying Files in the launcher may fix this issue.

Solution for these problems would be nice...

If we get more people to this post maybe they'll do a rolling patch , because this is ridiculous.... If you pay 60+ dollars for a game , you wuld expect it to be of some quality

one main cause of this problem under vista and win7 is installing the game in the program files section.
    Quote from coderanger....

Fun fact, the game will break pretty frequently if you install to Program Files under Vista or Win7 because of a new security feature called Virtual Store (short version: it intercepts and rewrites file writes inside prog files to go somewhere else). That is why it is no longer the default install location on those platforms. There is no permanent way to disable this feature of Windows, so installing outside of Program Files is the best option. The "correct" place according to MS for this would be C:\ProgramData, but more games use Users\Public\Games that we wanted to go with the clearer one. The More You Know.
the other thing that can cause problems is installing the game under Steam in the steam apps directories. This does not happen for all people but when it does, If people do a non steam install it fixes the problem.

Thanks Peg ... I also got a response from the a CSR saying this:

Please delete the "piggs/hogs/bin/" file identified by the error which will be located in the \Live\piggs directory. The file will be located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Live\piggs\texture2.hogg Select "Force Verify" after clicking on the "Options" menu on the game login screen and login into the game normally. Once the game has completed verifying and re-patching the missing game files you should no longer receive that error. Sincerely, Atari Account Services

Im going tot ry both solutions

if the verify does not fix it then delete the bin.hogg file and download a new one.

Might be a dumb question; but how much free space do you have remaining on the hard drive where the game is installed. Also, if you're running under Windows 7 make sure you're running the launcher and the game as 'Administrator'.

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the game?

I have 40 GB free, and I am running the launcher as the administrator.
