Hi Sir, hi all, :D

In the mission the Doomsday Device, the fourth part of the mission is called Decker's Nightmare.
you have to "Fly near the core of the planet", but no matter what angle, I also tried flying as close as possible to the planet, I can't succeed.

What is the meaning of "Fly near the core of the planet" ? and what should I do ? or is it bugged ?

Soon our voices must become one, or one must leave

Eskaton :D

You have to go inside that cracked planet and get close enough to the core. Then a pop up will say you got a sample of something, blah, blah, blah. But once you do that, then you get to fight the flying log... I mean the Doomsday Device with an item you get from the core to equip.

Fly into the midddle of the cracked planet and when you get the message 'blah blah" you will then have the special torpedos you need to destroy the DDD. I beleive you have to equip them as well.

    No it is not bugged.

The part in the OP that said no matter how close he went to the planet, I also wonder if he went to the right one. Not the planet that he orbits to fight the ships in the earlier stages but the other planet that looks like the DD ripped it a new one already. I think the area map will have a circle to show where to go to the cracked one.

If you ever have a problem finding a mission location in space, open the map and you should see the areas your supposed to go.

I understand the OP's problem. I had it too.

When your bridge officer lets you know that the Doomsday Machine is present and that you need to go to the core of the planet, it isn't terribly specific which planet he/she is talking about. There are two in the system and you happen to be *right next to one* when the message comes in.

Just another example of a single missing word or punctuation mark delivering disaster. It's the difference between:

    "Let's eat grandma!"

    vs.

    "Let's eat, grandma!"

Yes, you fly around and after a while you figure out *which* planet in the system your bridge officer is yakking about, but... hey. Y'know. Specifics are nice.

To be fair, though, the planet is in the middle of the standard "go here" circle on the game map. If you have your mini-map zoomed small enough you can easily see it there without even bringing up the main map.
