finaly reached RA on my engi cruiser and whent in straight for pvp. got couple of realy bad groups and couple descent ones. now in one match im up against this escort, not 1v1 but dogfight of couple ships. i single this guy out cause hes firing on my mate and hes doing serious damage. need to pop ES + ET +HE to keep this guy up. when im about to kill this escort he just jumps away, almost literaly. i would have sweared this guy was over 20k away from me in under 2-3 sec. if the guy is reading this, how did u do that. if not, community... help?
i know that: EM + high engine power = fast, but im searching for super fast, not plain fast
First, preparation before match. Skill investment: engine power performance, and anything that boosts Evasive Maneuvers (probably Combat Maneuvers + the other engine skills).
Bridge officer ability loadout: Emergency Power to Engines (any rank)
Procedure:
1) Switch to full engine power level preset.
2) Use Emergency Power to Engines. (Consider using Engineering Team just before Emergency Power, in order to buff the effect that Emergency Power will provide.)
3) Pop an engine battery.
4) Use relevant player abilities (EPS Power Transfer, Attack Patterns?)
5) Hit Evasive Maneuvers.

this all would make u super fast and make the jump effectively? i suppose it is possible, its alot of buffs. couldnt see what kind of buffs he stacked before he made the jump.
thx for the replie.
btw engine power performance, what exactly does that do? not the mumbo jumbo crrap u get from the tooltip.
He probably had a key bind for evasive manoeuvres + Emergency Power to Engines + max engine power.
I can put 20km distance between me and an enemy in the blink of an eye with that combo.

In the Starship Engineering tree, all power performance and efficiency skills modify not only their relevant abilities (use the filters to see what affects what), but they also add to your ship's power levels.
Efficiency adds to power levels below 70 (or is it below 60, I always forget). Performance adds to power levels regardless of current setting.

All of this is pretty much correct. However all you actually need are some Purple Hyper Impulse Engines. The PVP reward ones. I think its SPD Turn, ENG? Dont quote me I cant remember. Go to full power in your engines, and hit Evasive Maneuvers. I can reach 20k in seconds. Of course if you use a battery or EPTE then it is of course much faster. It very much depends on the engines you use.

Speed is an essential survival skill for escorts, and to a greater extent BoP's. I have a couple of spare buttons on my mouse for switching between full power to weapons and full power engines, and with a couple of eps relays the change is quick. As others have said Hyper-Impulse Engines are a must, and if you shop around try and find ones with turn and speed bonuses (some good ones on D7).
So all I have to do to get away is press a mouse button to reroute power to engines, and hit evasive manoeuvres, and as I have 2 hands this happens quite quickly. If I have the wind behind me I can clear over 30km. If you're lucky 1 or 2 people might follow helping divide the enemy team.
Only takes Evasives plus engine power. I do this regularly.
First, I keep my speed up for max defense in the first place, which not only increases base speed but increases the bonus percentage increase from Evasive Maneuvers. When I need to run, I hit Evasives so the ship begins accelerating and I can turn quickly to the direction I want to go and/or turn my vulnerable shield facing away from fire immediately. Plus my defense goes through the roof since I was already at 75%. Then I hit "r" (my keybind for max engine power) and fly away. It goes off in nothing flat. If I really want to I can hit a battery or other such thing, but frankly it's overkill. I'll be past 10k before the effects of a battery even come into play. I mean, how long does it really take to hit "3" and "r" on the keyboard (where EM and 100% power are on my keybinds) while turning with the mouse? A tenth of a second at most?
I have had several Klinks report me for "cheating" because they don't believe how fast my Escort can beat feet. Nothing has come of it (since I'm not cheating), but they get pretty worked up about it.
Another "hack" I've been reported for is this. Iif you need to turn fast (and EM is on cooldown) pop an engine battery and reduce throttle to 25%, turn, then hit ramming speed. Or just throttle back up if you want to save RS. Or skip the battery and just go to max engine power while going to 25% throttle, turn and go back to 100% throttle. Regardless, this little combo has also gotten me reported by Klinks who swear I've just used a second (or third, or fourth) EM in a row. Now that turn rate is linked to engine power, you can REALLY turn fast and then REALLY accelerate fast if you have hotkeys for 25% and 100% throttle (like I do).
Yes, I know giving away tricks of the trade and all. But lets face it, fights against competent opponents are much more entertaining than fights against noobs so I'd rather give the advice and face it than continue to gank noobs.

I started a Tac officer a week ago or so. I'm a Commander 5 right now... with Emergency to Eng II, evasive and hyper impulse equipped I can put 20-30k on a target in 3-4 seconds. I'm sure in another week at RA I'll be that much faster. Speed is life in an escort.

Oh yeah, I would love such a keybind.
