Ok so lets look at this by taking any weapon...now how do we make that better given that reload times and distance to fire will stay the same.
Starship energy weapons training
either Starship Beam/Cannon weapons
then the type Disruptor, phaser, plasma, tetryon, antiproton and polaron
Tactical team
Beam overload or Rapid fire
High yield
and then we got the tactical consoles
SO what's wrong? More damage reload times and distance to fire is the same...just seems a bit of a waste not to have different reload times and distance to fire to add to the mix.

i set the settings to "advanced" and it takes forever now to kill a battleship
the movement and camera angle and fighting has changed from what i am experencing
at any rate- i guess i am suggesting try "advanced" if you have not

Even if my suggestion went ahead all that advanced and elite changes need to do is adjust enemys weapons and shields to how much damage you can do but still make it hard.
I'm not sure if it's a case of weapons doing too much damage too quickly, or the hull not being able to withstand enough damage... but I do know that any weapon + power stacking combination that can drain shields and destroy a ship's hull in 3 seconds isn't the type of PvP that I'd like to see. Nor is it what was expected when they said "tall ship combat". If they were looking at The Wrath of Khan as an example, they missed.
i think that they based "wrath of Khan" (the battle part) on "Balance of Terror"
they do have that giant plasma torpedo which is cool. again the graphic guys/gals are really good they ought to let them run wild-
at any rate i think they should base the game more on "Equinox" in voyager
and the ground game in "Faces" or "Thaw" (holideck stuff)
straying a bit there- what was the topic? oh yeah, space battles. - maybe less enemies
(maybe one?) - and longer. a cool enemy and ship and battle that went on for awhile

since i have been on here all the changes have been positive (for me)
and they keep changing things-
course i have no comment now- don't play elite -
but the idea of longer combat - (how about less combat- that means more- and takes longer?) -
