Okay...BoPs firing while cloaked. I read it somewhere, cant find it now, but that post didnt get alot of love, if I remember right..."WELL" it happened to me last night...I would have taken a screen shot...but its hard to take a screen shot of "NOTHING" while your tail end is getting turned into scrap metal.
It was not a Lag issue...it was a pretty big Capture and Hold Battle and my comp was working fine...
I was in my Escort coming around to make another strafing run when I began to take heavy fire to my rear and left shields...I broke right and and tried to target enemy ship...no dice...ship getting chewed up...hit science II and evasive, spun around still taking fire. Moved into open space, battle turned into a 1v1 so no extra space flak going on...How did I know it was a 1v1? because...I was still alive.
Rear and right shields getting chewed up now, looking for enemey ship...nothing...looking for enemy tracers...nothing...ship being torn up...hitting ems II ems I...hazard emitters...eng I...science II (again and for last time) engines screaming...comp voice telling me my shields were being destroyed...explosions everywhere...and none of my guns firing...WHY!!!???...because, there was no target to fire at...
Last thing I saw...my hull was dropping below 10%...all my buffs were on cool down...and I just happened to be looking aft..searching for the Phantom Ship that was turning my Prize Warship into space junk...just then, the BoP and her antiproton tracers decloaked on my exposed rear, and finshed me off...I thought I heard a little victory chuckle...
I stayed during respawn cool down to see if she was alone...and she was...As I watched her for a what seemed like a long minute, but in actuality, it was closer to a second or two, I had a vision of what Allied Pilots must have seen and felt during World War I, after The Red Baron flew past them in a Victory Swagger, for such a "total" Air Victory...and then...she cloaked and went along her buisness..her buisness of killing...
The Feds lost that capture and hold battle...wasn't even close...my little battle lasted long enough to hit science II twice and eng I twice...I have the Capts name of the Phantom BoP , that took my well oiled fighting machine and sent it to the Star Fleet recycle bin, emblazoned onto my memory. However, due to STO forum rules I cannot reveal that name here...I will keep her little secret with me...hint...its a female name...
My little PvP story about a Phantom Ship that the Devs say, "does not" exist.
I got reported for flying a cloaked carrier, that is the same issue the OP mentions. i just lagged a lot i noticed and ofc, was jamming a lott
While I can't say I've ever had this problem, and my initial reaction to posts like this is that the problem is user error and not recognizing jam sensors, I have to wonder, based upon the OP's assertion that during the fight he was able to use Sci Team (and this negate the Jam Sensors) if this might not be a latency related issue.
This issue could be one of a few things: A) the BoP was infact fliring cloaked (which has been established can't happen) B: The BoP wasn't cloaked but something got garbled either on the server end or the OP's which caused the OP to percieve flying from cloak... similar to, but not the same as the latency bug in other MMO's where NPCs attack and kill you from a distance, even though you aren't near them. C: the OP was repeatedly Jammed and he didn't recieve the 'Blue Sparklies' or his sci team didnt work- ive had sci team misfire a time or two (or he didn't use it).... I personally will be betting on either option B or C. Not going to speculate as to which is more plausible, or probable, but that there are some screwy glitches here and there which can make for some interesting encounters in PvP
Check your combat logs and see if the name General Chang shows up he likes to sneak into matches from time to time and attack people who dont know what they're doing.
In a match a few days ago I was attacked and couldn't spot an enemy even after using ST. Never saw it happen before (or since). I figured it was just a 'server burp' or something.
Does ST not always get rid of Jam sensors? He said he used it twice. Of course, I've never had ST not work on jam sensors.
I've believe I've had it not work. I've used it many times where it didn't get rid of a jam. Of course, I had no way of telling if I had two Jam Sensors on me at the time (with the latest update we FINALLY can w/o selecting our own ship).
Personally, I've thought the current version of Jam Sensors is ridiculous for it's ability to make you and your weapons fire "disappear." It's Jam Targeting Sensors, not Jam All Sensors. The user should merely be un-targetable.
Stopping noobs from thinking they're being shot by cloaked ships would just be a side benefit.

Science Team removes one debuff. So if your hit with e.g. multiple jam sensors, jam + scramble sensors or jam + snb you may be unlucky and the jts you want to remove stays.

Seriously? Because you got TRIBBLE kicked in an Game you suddenly know how a Pilot in real war feels? Get a life!
Anyway:
1st: STO has many bugs and a lag can very well be caused by other things then your Computer, although, after reading the above quotet, i can hardly imagine that you are able to recognize if your Computer works fine, probalbly if you get a bluescreen you thing its caused by klingon cloak too.
2nd: After your detailed description, even if it IS true, because i cant remember a fight TAHT detailed about 10 seconds later, there are also several other explanaitions wich doesnt include cheats or bugs.
Dont forget that science team removes only ONE debuff.
As an Escort you wouldnt have survived a dogfight with a damage BoP long enough to use 2 science teams. So it was probably a Science BoP, with several Debuffs, may be even 2 Jam sensors.
May be he also battlecloaked during the battle and attacked another time when Jam Sensors was ready again.
May be you fought two diffrent ships, the one you saw replaced another one that left before because of something you didnt regognise (another dogfight nearby for example); means: new cloak, new jam sensors.
And no, sometimes that "points" that indicate jam sensors just do not appear, sometimes the green light inicating RSP is not shown either; so an extract of the combat log would have been much more usefull then your coulerfull narration.
Believe it or not, I bookmarked this thread. Seriously, I did. Reason why I did is that in other discussions where Feds whine about the Klingons, I will refer any FedWhineBears this thread.
Simply because this is the caliber of PvP on a number of Fed teams.
And you guys wonder why you get rolled by the Klingons alot?
In my opinion, Jam Sensors should break when you attack the target under its effect. It is grossly overpowered in 1 on 1 situations especially if you stack multiple versions of it.

How can you stack it when you have a global cooldown?
Seriously, that story is so full of TRIBBLE. The fight must have lasted at least a minute, given the number of shared cooldowns you puportedly triggered. If it was a BoP, you would have been dead in the first 5 seconds.
Jam Sensors is good the way it is, and it is the way it is one of the most important Skills for escorts. Its also easy to counter with science team.
And by the way, if I accidently lock on a cruiser in the heat of battle im always lucky if he jams my sensors^^ In most cases that kills one of his escort mates, because he is my next targert^^

What reasoning would support this?
Just because a enemies sensors are blind to me, shouldn't mean that I cannot attack him.

Seriously, 5 seconds? If something I shoot lasts that long without using RSP I will shoot myself. Rarely does anything last more than about 2 seconds when a fully geared and skill point oriented BoP attacks some carebear fed (such as mine, IKS FedFarmer). I especially love hitting other escorts and star cruisers.
But on topic, the OP of this thread needs to invest in some quality research of their own skills they use and quite frankly respec and put those points into the skills they use. For example if you are a tactical officer, dont put 9 points into something in hopes of unlocking the T3 skill of it if it is NOT a tactical officer oriented skill. Put your skill points into things you use first and foremost, then fill each tier out to unlock the next with the bare minimium to unlock the next tier, wash rinse repeat for each tier.
Hope this helps, and word of advice for some that are not as savvy with this game. When you are putting skills into your toolbar and you dont see them, open up your skills tab to the far right of your skills tab line by clicking the calculator icon next to the multiple sheets of paper icon. Also, if you click the multiple sheets of paper icon it will expand your skill boxes from the current number to double and then triple it from what it was originally. Ran into a RA3 a few days ago that didnt know any of this, and im sure some klink and feds on both sides didnt know this too, so im not picking on just the feds with this. But, I will mention I run into feds that have me wondering why they call me a coward when i get distance from them and their RSP only to turn around and blow them up after it expires. To me its tactics, not cowardice, but then again so is using the right skills and game mechanics in PvP when I get into a PvP match, which is quite often.
The story is true...its the way it happened...I remembered it so well because it was a unusual battle...no I did not see any bright sparkles around my ship or red circles or clouds of gas or anything else. I do not believe jam sensors cloaks the weapons fire...I could be wrong...Regardless I would have seen somthing, and I didn't .
Yes, a Escort can not only outlast a BoP in a 1V1, but also defeat one...I had time to pop Sci II twice: pop sci II...pop eng I...pop eng I...pop sci II...battle ended soon after the second sci pop. In between those pops I was poping ems I and II and hit Hazards once.
As for the Military flame...I am a retired U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant..I have earned the right to say what I want when I want and how I want when it pertains to any Military situation, as I see fit.
The event was written in a story format as well as memory would allow, so maybe some ideas of what might have happen, would come to light...And they have. I do not think the Feds should get cloak, we have counter measures...However I do not think cloak was designed to have a BoP fire weapons and keep firing weapons while cloaked...so there is another answer...I do not know what it is, so I put it on the forums, That was all.
It may have been a sci BoP, I do not know, it could be a bug...all I know is, I could not see the BoP or the weapons fire until she deloaked and finished me off...and I did see her decloak, firing on me. We had moved pretty far away from the main battle when this all transpired, and I was no threat to the one ship at the time, as stated in the story. If it would have been 2 ships...I would never had time to pop the second sci...imho...
Whether you think the story is b.s. or not doesn't really bother me...I know what happened. However, I do have better things to do, then spend my time writing fake TRIBBLE...
What reasoning would support this?
Just because a enemies sensors are blind to me, shouldn't mean that I cannot attack him.
They should be able to pinpoint the origin of the weapons fire, allowing for a target lock.
Honestly anyone saying the ability is fine hasn't ran into the 6x Jam Sensors Science Ship or 3x Jam Sensors Escort yet. Yup your 1 science team will be really useful.:)

If you have no sensors how can you pinpoint where the incomming fire is coming from? Use a port hole? Without sensors a space ship is blind.
Though I agree chaining multiples of JS is a joke. You should not be able to chain multiple copies of the same power and its higher level copies for continiuos effect.

Thanks Gunny for standing in harm's way to secure my freedoms.:)
Hope you werent referring to what I posted a few posts up. I come from a military family dating back to when this country was founded and further back to German mostly. I have also lost close friends that were in the military, and at this time am filing out the paperwork to join the Army just as both my grandparents have done. I am also not a young person, I have roughly 2 months to finish basic training before I am not eligible for OCS. I am physically fit, but I know now that I will be put to the test physically, and as far as shooting and fighting is concerned I dont consider myself military grade, but I am a firefighter and have a colorful background in mixed martial arts and own a wide variety of the armalite family of guns etc etc. Also, thanks for what youve done and keep thinking of those over seas in harms way.

.
You do have sensors, they are merely jammed. Jamming occurs by sending a signal that is so strong that it masks all other less strong signals. One could argue the huge energy unleashed when firing energy weapons should overcome any normal form of jamming.

I dont think he could see anything.. He was to busy raging and crying nerf cloak. Hell he was probably in a FvF match LOL.
sam Jensors.
A wall of text and whine when the answer is as simple as :
Jam sensors.
Excuse me for being blunt but: L2P.
ya, sam Jensors is OP.
