What do you think about Open Bridges?

Right now only people we invite can enter our Bridge. For Roleplaying purposes it would be so much easier if you could set your bridge as "open" when you're playing on it. Others could browse open bridges in a separate window and join them to play with the people already aboard, without the ships captain having to invite everyone manually. Your bridge will only be open though as long as you're online and aboard yourselves.

If you want a permanently available bridge, that could be a perk for a fleet.

How about a Flagship bridge. This bridge would be always available for every member of your fleet, or if you would switch it to open, for everyone. It can be a fleet meeting room, or if you're roleplaying the center of all your attention.

Maybe you can even add details like Fleet Flagship Bridge officers. These are officers the fleet leader hires for the flagship. They could sell foodstuffs, greet players arriving on the bridge, and even offer some dialogue options with information about the fleet, or RP related story stuff. (Like the MOTD for the Fleet or so).

What do you think?

I could understand why fleets would want a permanently open bridge, but not individual players. I really wouldn't just want to beam into someone's bridge nor would I want other people to beam into mine. If its an option I guess it would be fine.

How about plaint or station based housing? Both fleet HQs and "apartments" or houses. Sorry, I want to have a place OTHER than my bridge for people to visit with an option for the HQ or house to be "open". Then, perhaps we can get a REAL crafting and market system where we can sell from those HQs and houses.

I know it may seem to be a response unrelated to the OP, but it is not. Bridges are cool and it will be nice when they have ship-board missions but my ship can never be my home nor would I want any old person visiting it. That's what a fleet HQ and a house or an apartment would be fore.

While they are at it, lets add something so players can own bars and restaurants.

How about so noncombat classes as well.

Fleet owned stations is definitely something that has been talked about by the community and if I'm not mistaken it is something that Cryptic is interested in but not something we'll see anytime soon.

I guess having our own homes is possible, but you have to also realize that Starfleet officers didn't really own a house, they lived where they were stationed. The only exception might be Starfleet officers on Earth. They could work at Starfleet HQ and live anywhere on the planet thanks to transporter technology.

Once ship interiors are finished and released we will most likely have the ready room and the captain's room which is essentially where we would live.

I have to disagree with owning bars, restaurants, etc. because no Starfleet officer owned a business. Their job was being a Starfleet officer, and that's it. Something like this would work good if there was a Ferengi faction. In that faction you would go on missions like normal, but maybe also open establishments where people could go and do whatever. Risa would be an amazing spot for this to happen.
