Not sure how long I can hang in this game...

It's been 3 months doing the same thing I am on my 4th, 5th and 6th, RA 5 progression. PvP is ok and it is a nice mix, but I don't think another dungeon is going to quake the shoes that make me play STO. I was hoping for huge planets with quests and pvp and crafting and shuttles going places, A real progression of moving up the ranks not this wham bam thank you mam approach to this game which by now you have noticed that it is not an mmorpg it is similar to Guild Wars.

I guess I was not really expecting the amount of hand holding and leash management by the development team or production team perhaps in this case. All my fleet has left the game since the beginning over 200 people, I have to recruit every day to get enough people to have 5 to 10 to quest and maybe get them to RA 5 they do the dungeons then stop playing. I used to be able to recruit 5 people a day or so, but now it is like 5 or 10 a week. I know that Cryptic had a vision of what they wanted the game to be and I have been waiting for an ST game like this for many years, but I am bored out of my skull.

I don't think I can wait for another 6 months or a year cuz later this year WoW puts out an upgrade, next year is Guild Wars 2 and SWTOR. I wanted STO to be one of my main games that I could play for years to come, but this version is too thin and I am not sure I want to keep PAYING for a game I am not going to play.

Some one said that this game was for the casual mmo player, but there are no casual mmo players you either are a player or you are on the sidelines watching wondering or gasping for air...

Even my main players the hard core raiders are looking for another game to play. Years ago, being SWG refugees, we left that game because of the same nonsense and here we are 5 years later shocked and stunned at the repeat of the great exodus of 05

How much time do any of us have? After all, life can be like the wind, Here then gone...

    ?

I can't figure that out. There's no way to develop that realistically. While I admit the maps are tiny. I just can't see how anyone could expect "huge planets" ...

The amount of hardware ... and development time ... it's not plausible.

I agree that the leveling is way too fast, but three months and 6 RA's?!?
    Whoa.
You may want to go outside and get some fresh air.

No kidding! I'd love to see your /played, Eciro! I'm still trying to get my first char up to Admiral (just one more step; sitting at Cpt 10 right now). Oh, and my /played is at 7 days. And I haven't even finished all the DS9 stuff yet. I think I've got seven or eight missions all lined up, plus all the patrols yet. It appears that I'm going to hit RA5 with a LOT of content left to do.

I think you may need to face that fact that new MMOs aren't going to be good for you. At all. You appear to be a hardcore player, with lots of time to play. Personally, if I were you, I wouldn't touch ANY MMO that hasn't been out for at least two years. It sounds as if you're just going to be disappointed over and over and over as each MMO for the foreseeable future will probably have economics working against them, and will have less content at launch than you hope for.

Seriously. How long do you think it'll take you to whip through the WOW upgrade? How long to go through Guild Wars 2 and SWTOR? And then you'll be right back in the same spot.

Then again, maybe by that time, STO will have a lot of new content that you can then come back to.

Yeah this game was not designed for the hard core players that play 5+ hours daily. It's perfect for the 5-15 hours per week players. It'll take 2-3 months to reach RA5 as a very casual player.

I'd like to see it in a game like Elite or X3 .... I seriously doubt we will see this tech in an MMO any time soon :(

My Klingon guild which required forms to be filled out to determine personaly traits before now has one random person on at any prime time. one.

I started a rabid fan of sto. then I was indifferent. After seeing the game managed like "City of Heroes" I was angry. Now I am indifferent again. I resubbed LOTRO and th game is full of people, the music and atmosphere is great, and it is fun! I do grey quests having fun, and when i grind, it is ... ... FUN. haha I forgot that, as sto makes the grind as painful as possible.

I was hoping that this MMOG would be MM, but I don't think of 5v5 or 10v10 as Massively Multiplayer.

Now, if we can get this up to 50v50 or more, then we're talking MM.

But, either way, I'm here forever.

What are you on about? Fresh Trek Fans? There are no Trek Fans left who havnt tried out the game. Every Trek Fan i know was waiting for this and has played. You only get one chance to launch a game!! One!! Most people will not comeback. and good job cryptic- you know what you are doing? How do you support this? Cryptic is a money making company just like any other. They dont invest millions simply to go well we dont like those fans lets change things to get different ones!! They want every subscriber they can get!! Any business that uses the Model that you have describe would go bankrupt in 12-18 months with out a huge amount of captial sunk into it to keep it afloat.
