I've been reading the threads on burst damage and one of my first thoughts was 'if the escort can dish it out then the cruiser should be able to take it (with Science and other Escorts falling behind)'
In the few times I've engaged in PVP, I can hear the BoP de-cloaking behind me. I've popped an ability or 2 to get my resistances up and it occurred to me that half of the ability is the immediate shield boost (which I lose because I'm at max shields).
I think that for the duration of abilities that boost shields, you should be able to overcharge the shields. I mean there are Escort Captains BRAGGING about being able to take out any target in 3-6 seconds (longer if through RSP, bleed through and all).
If an Escort is able to stack a mountain of buffs and dish out untold DPS, and I see it coming, I should be able to activate an equivalent host of skills (as a Cruiser, obviously Science and Escort wouldn't have the same depth).
This solves a few issues, namely Escort survivability and Escort spike DPS.

This has been discussed before but it has been some time. I thought I'd revisit it in light of the 1.1 update.
Setting automatic activation of skills. with the Global CDS and Shared CDs etc etc... Every ship has 2 skill sets that will never get above Lt, and unless you're on a Klingon ship with universal consoles, competing CDs aren't generally an issue. You're in an Escort or Cruiser, you have Science Team 1 and 2, constatntly going. In a Escort or Science ship, want EP2<whatever> going.
Any thoughts?
