Okay, so we all have requests, suggestions and demands for the game. Every so often, this turns into a discussion of player entitlement or fan entitlement.
So for one thread, let's pretend there's no stigma attached to entitlement.
Make a wild request for what you and only you deserve.
Want a unique title for your character? Think there should be a ship class named after you? Think PvP should be balanced in your favor? Want a statue in the Klingon Hall of Legends of your character with Admiral Quinn's head in one hand and a tribble in the other? Have a moment of gameplay you think should be immortalized in Star Trek canon?
In City of Heroes, I was the one and only Hero Mastermind, "The Ultimate Master", a ninja mastermind who would up as a hero in the tutorial after a hiccup. To my knowledge, I was the only one ever until that game's next expansion, which I think will allow for them. There has been cases of people winding up on the wrong side (similar to a Klingon in Starbase 1) but those people were still flagged hostile for the most part and were easily fixed with a simple relocation.
In my case, I wasn't simply in the wrong area but was actually aligned the wrong way. I submitted a bug report as soon as it happened. I had a brief career as a forum celebrity and in-game celebrity. The developers made the call that I would be allowed to play this character for a few weeks while they came up with a solution and that, in the meantime, they'd track how I grouped with other players to evaluate what the balance issues were. And, I'll admit, those early levels were pretty absurdly balanced in my favor.
I had groups of people lining up to play with me and crowds followed me wherever I went. I actually had to macro my explanation of what had happened and that I'd been granted permission to play the bugged character.
In the end, I logged out at the neutral hub, Pocket D, where they fixed my character -- and upon my request, they did let me keep several badges and the opposite faction title "The Heroic" after being fixed, while removing anything that they worried might present a balance issue, like badges that might allow me to double qualify for certain accolades with tangible rewards.
I've gone back on the free weekends and my character is still there with his special badges and title but I was drawn into WoW not long after that and so my character faded into obscurity.
In honor of that special "relationship" and the headache I doubtless caused some of the people who moved on to Star Trek Online, I propose we don't wait for a bug this time.
Make me a character that is the first and only Gorn in Starfleet with the custom title "Ultimate Master". It actually kinda suits my username Leviathan99 (a Ray Bradbury reference in this case) as Gorn are kind of like space age sea lizards. It honors our weird little arrangement from City of Heroes. Having one of these floating around would add flavor and I know first hand that nothing generates community and social awareness like having the occasional oddball character who turns heads in social areas. Plus, it makes you guys look cool and approachable.
So... There's my pitch for the special treatment I'd like. What's yours?
Oh. And before anybody says, "Different game, different rules"? I had a similar relationship with the WoW GMs and we'd not only cut up about the weird bugs I'd find but they went so far as to have me sign a release form to supply suggestions and feedback, above and beyond the norm... And one GM even pranked me by turning my flight path mount into the uber-rare Time Lost Protodrake. And I'm the only human I know of there with the Draenei-only Tabard of the Hand, which I figured out a trick to get my hands on after running it past GMs.
So, really, any other game I'd go to (CoH or WoW) would toss me a bone on this kind of thing. I have one of a kind (or nearly one of a kind) characters in WoW and CoH. Let's just go ahead and make this thing happen here too. :-D
I asked this months ago, it won't happen
Ground PVE:
1) Have a ground HUB . One planet. You have to walk from instanced "Cave"/"Building"/Ship or whatever and come back to complete the quest. Go back. And so forth.
No transporters because of interference. Have the instances regeneratable. This is an easy request.
2) Find a "lost BO" ground quest.
3) "timed" missions (you have to do "this" in "this" amount of time or the mission resets).
4) More Meele weapons
5) Klingon NPC's have Targs, but the KDF doesn't??
Space PVE:
1) Have the ships that you are fighting different. Have different skills. Weapon loadouts. Unpredictable.
2) Have the ships that you are fighting SCANABLE so that they are not all that unpredictable.
3) When your opponents shields are down, have the opportunity to send some of your crew over to kill there crew/sabotage/bombs like in SFC
Ships and Crafting SHOULD go hand in hand to:
1) Change/Improve BO Slots
2) Add another Uni BO Ens Slot
3) Add Console slots
4) Improve lower teir ships
5) Add more weapons
Depending on your class, what you craft is differerent in accordance with the above list.
STOP THE KLINGON/FEDERATION OPEN WAR! IT DOESN'T MAKE SENCE!
Explain how, in less than a generation, Gorn, Orion, Nausicain and whatnot are allowed to join the KDF, but not their ships?
I deserve the title of 'Sentimental Captain of the Year 2409', for holding on to my very first BO's for nothing but sentimental reasons. And by "sentimental reasons", I mean, "because my first officer is a hottie".
Explain how, in less than a generation, Gorn, Orion, Nausicain and whatnot are allowed to join the KDF, but not their ships?
Do you see Vulcan or Andorian ships in the Federation? No. The Orions signed an alliance with the Klingons which I'm assuming means some Orions can join up with the Klingons in their ships.
The Nausicaans were paid to work for the Gorn. After the Klingons defeated the Gorn and took over command, the Nausicaans surrendered as well.
That is how you have all 3 of them joined with the KDF and why none of their ships are in the game.
I should be able to become a Q, because I am humble, have a great ethical and moral compass.....and I am all about fair! I have my hand on the pulse of this game for what it was designed for the Star Trek FAN!
not +*** every 6 seconds
but +*** every 0.5 seconds (= a constant stream of regeneration!)
because if you have bad luck in a PVP match you die before your shield even regenerate's two times which makes Regen WORTHLESS.
Also the regen is not good enough to bring shields up again between battles, you HAVE TO use Abilities to get your shields back up and then when you go into battle they are probably still on cooldown.
So, why should anybody care if the regen is 130 or 160?
+ a (passive) SKILL that increases the general regen rate, only avaible for Cruisers instead of Abilities who only deliver some few points and energy which maxes out at 125 and still delivers not enough to stay alive.
I dont like to depend on Shield Abilities to stay alive. I would like to use more aggressive ENG abilities instead of depending on them to survive.
Why should anybody invest in regeneration instead of Covariant Cap x 3?
Just a note to people pointing out game balance/features issues here.
The big idea here is not what you'd ask for the community but what you'd ask for yourself specifically.
Hence, entitlement.
For instance, Staran, are you asking for PvE ground hub exclusively for your characters. I mean, I like your suggestions and ideas and I've made the same suggestions...
But with what I had in mind for this thread, the idea would be to request a ground hub, say, exclusively for your characters and nobody else's.
The money I spent on the game, the money I spent on the three month subscription. The money I spent on a site. The money I spent for a vent server. Then compensate me for the hours and hours and hours I spent on various projects and such revolving around supporting and promoting a fleet for this game, and the game itself. Compensation for all the abuse I took in those first few months when I actually was constantly defending Cryptic because I naively believed they were serious about releasing a good game would be nice too. Maybe a little more for the abuse I then took when we started to realize what was going on and fought against it happening.
Obviously, since my character Suvi is already the most awesome of the Fed-Side Alien Orions, make her the only official one, and let her wear the vixenwear as an on-duty uniform.
Also, give me tokens to hand out so that my friends and only my friends can get the MU uniforms now.
I think we should have a new enemy faction called the Zootonians. Come on, I'm universally disliked already. Nobody is going to complain about murdering my minions in game

SSseeeee what I'm sssssssaying?
No, anyone. Like the 50 Max per instance in Earth Spacedock.
It doesn't matter, because as soon as you enter the instances in the HUB, it is all yours.
It would work as a spacestation as a space hub. We alread had a few missions like that already, if I remember correctly.
To continue my previous thread (had a meeting):
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY (i already think this is coming is the distant future):
The ability to use your ships like BO's in space.
You command a "command ship", with your equipment and BO's.
You use 2 or more other "lesser tier" ships, with other BO's in your inventory and equipment in your inventory.
And you "command them" like you would on ground PVE.
"I don't get it!". It is like STC3.
THIS would be a way to make this game last forever with playtime because of all the time/money sinks. You need to buy your "command BO's" skills. You have to buy your own skills to command more than one ship at a time. You have to buy your own KIND of skills (Support/dsp/tank).
Then, with the crafting I brought up before, you will have such a large selection of things to do for a long time.
When one of your support ships explode, you will need to repair them and replenish them after the fight UNLIKE when the command ship explodes.
I could guess that, from the deployement of the system above WITH the crafting that I brought up in the previous post, you could have a CONSTANT 6-9 months of playtime.
Of course, this is only for space.
As Captains and Admirals we have, no doubt, spent "years" in our education and learning. We have spent time learing Tactics, Warp Theory, Weapons Technology, just goo-gobs of cool stuff I'm too stupid to learn in real life. It is our respinsibility to have a good understanding of our ships, every system in them, and how everything is tied together.
Why then, if I train skills to use and happen to be able to train Attack Pattern Beta III, or Science Team III, or whatever abilities we "can train" can we not train them outside of our "profession"? My "entitlement" is being able to train bridge officers in whatever we're qualified to train, regardless of "profession".
I want my ship to loook like a little police box. I want my character to have bushy curly hair and a long multi-colored scarf and have witty emotes that only I can use. After a year or so of this, I want a little robot dog to follow me around and be able to do cool stuff that my secret weapon, the sonic screwdriver, can't do. I want the unique Character name Tom Baker too. Oh, and don't forget the bag of jellybabies that seemingly never go stale. If this isn't do-able, buy out whatever agency is responsible for the airing of Dr. Who and fire everyone who thought it was a good idea to off David Tennant as he closely resembled Tom Baker in wit and mannerisms.
And about that sonic screwdriver, I get an instant "IwinCRAFTING" with it too.
Edit* I suppose I should ask for unique ship title "Tardis" but then, with my star cruiser bridge on my escort I feel like that anyway. Would the registration be an HMS registration instead of NS or NX?
2. For the expansion, Cryptic makes an extended skill system. The system draws from a separate experience pool, for advancement above rear admiral. Hell, the thing could even have skill tress instead of watering down the existing system and dragging out its lifespan.
I should be able to become a Q, because I am humble, have a great ethical and moral compass.....and I am all about fair! I have my hand on the pulse of this game for what it was designed for the Star Trek FAN!
If you are humble and have a great ethical and moral compass you would make a lousy Q hehe
I think we should have a new enemy faction called the Zootonians. Come on, I'm universally disliked already. Nobody is going to complain about murdering my minions in game
Indeed and the Zootonians would be perfect to work at the Treasure Trading Station bar. Once they activate the repeat missions feature anyone who you tick off can go do that mission.
Give Klingons equal content (PvE+PvP+customization) to the Federation (equal does not mean identical).
Specifically:
Even up the character and ship customization and provide the "PvP faction" with faction unique PvP that is worth playing, along with 30-40 episodic stoyline PvE missions.
Alternatively, remove STO from all the servers and start over from scratch. Use Runescape as a model instead of CoH.
I deserve my ship having a registry number that does not begin with 9, be only 5 digits long and be exactly as I choose. And that is all want. That felt good getting that off my chest. XD
In honor of that special "relationship" and the headache I doubtless caused some of the people who moved on to Star Trek Online, I propose we don't wait for a bug this time.
Make me a character that is the first and only Gorn in Starfleet with the custom title "Ultimate Master". I think I know how you may've made your avatar, but that's not the crux of my post.
You know, I "hear" you and I also would be flat out enjoying such a thing as this.
But that's the problem, you see.
You want a Gorn character in Starfleet and I would not mind having one as well. I can also imagine there are several other players who would love to be able to do this.
While I would feel "giddy" about this if it happened to me, one has to be pragmatic and recognize others would want this, too. I am positive you probably had many /tells in CoH (and probably in WoW) asking you where/how you were able to make your Mastermind (and other things from WoW). While it could cause some "hope to dream" in many people, there will be those that will be jealous and demand it, even through some means that may not be agreeable to some (such as the Zebra Mount in WoW and the new offer in this Game about the 5 tier AGT/TNG Enterprise).
As for titles? Well, this is not as...blunt or heavy-handed: It falls under the notice of others unless they notice it. I don't think you'd get a title like "Ultimate Master" but you may get something close. I myself have a title I can use in-game that not many people are able to use. It gets noticed, but not as much as I could imagine a Federation Gorn or a new ship skin would. I display my title quietly and go about my way playing the game.
(So maybe this is a "devil's advocate" post?) So, in short, while I would thrill to being the *only* player with such a thing, it is a bit unfair to others who also may enjoy it.
Yeah. In reality, I'd imagine something like Starfleet Gorn would either never be offered or would be an unlockable.
I just figured we all have a little steam to blow off or a secret little wish to be unique, reviled, famous or revered...
And in reality, there's a seed of constructive feedback in that because anything that a person would want to make them unique is something Cryptic can look at adding as an uber-premium reward either via C-Store or an earned in-game mechanism.
But thinking in terms of that one thing you'd want to be the only one who gets reveals something about both how we see ourselves and what we want out of the game. But as a thought exercise, I think it's more specific than a lot of the suggestions we've seen a thousand times.
I mean, we can all sit around and say we want more content, bigger group actions, more solo and small group endgame content, etc. I think Cryptic knows we want these things.
But if you think in terms of that thing you'd want to be rare, that you'd want to set you personally apart, it uses a different part of your brain.
1) Make me the only player Fleet Admiral, with unlimited authority to launch courts marshal and end them with summary and permanent player executions. First on the list ,anyone who stacked the pre-nerf viral matrix and SNB. Second is anyone that tries to name one of their ships the same name as one of mine. Third is anyone that is above the rank of Lt and still thinks it's funny to ask where Sulu is.
2) Have Wesley Crusher as bridge officer. I will have the ability to stun him with a phaser at all times, but he will still have the ability to instantly and anti-climatically win missions deus ex machina style with no real effort on his part. After which, I will shoot him again.
