these guys are smaller then theyr phaser tourets and shield generaters. if they are going to be so tiny. make them die with 1 mele hit or 1 energy weapon blast. u cant even tell them apart from the trash on the ground until they start to move.
Nerf all Aliens. It makes no sense that in a Trek game players are punished for choosing to play as canon races, meanwhile the one foot tall TRIBBLE looking troll called "isexedurmom" gets the best possible traits.

Well if you want to pick your traits you could always use the character creator to make whatever alien you want, including canon races. You could even name them isexedurgrndma to one up isexedurmom.
I know if I wanted to be a pathetic min-maxer manchild who lives in their parent's basement and only cares about stats then I could make an Alien, but since I actually play STO to be part of the Trek universe, I pick a canon race. I would be fine with the Alien creator if it weren't an OP I Win creator.
A decent way to balance the four selectable traits for aliens, would to just make it where if you decide to create an alien character then you only get to pick two space and two ground traits. You'd still get to pick your four, but it'd be limited enough to balance out with some of the canon races.

Is that a Vorta in your avatar pic? What do you do if you want to play a Vorta?

I'll wait until the Dominion faction comes or they make them a C-Store race. Or just not play them. It's a wishlist thing, I won't die if they never get made. But I know I won't use the Alien creator; I'm here to play Star Trek, not to be an OP one foot tall troll.

...and yet you play PvP.
If you want to be part of the ST universe, you will always be handicapped in PvP. Either get over that, or make a toon for PvP.

What if you wanted to play a Talaxian? Or an android? Neither of them are likely to be made part of any single faction?
i read this article about profesional gamers vs non profesional gamers and it was quite an eye opener. work out the tactic to beat the short people and you will be one step closer to being a better gamer.
I encountered a whiner in the borgy pvp zone he proclaimed i was a noob because i chose to jump him in his miranda when he was being attacked by borg drones.
yeah possibly true but i still beat him
He used jam sensors i didnt think "hey thats not fair" i just changed my tactic to deal with not being able to target him like power dumped to shields until it wore off or he shot me and switched back to weapons.
Dont nerf anything because it overall ruins the game. they ruined champs by constantly nerfing the game.

this so much. let all races pick their own 4 traits and give all current characters a free trait respec.
I get the joke. It annoyed me at first. Only because I got the joke. This player though I feel is free to make and enjoy that character as much as possible.
It's just you asked for an example. That's the one that always pops to my mind whenever I see this particular discussion come up.
Understand, I think Medical Generator is fine. I do not have any problems with Medical Generator. I hope that player loves the heck out of his PVP charcter.
In PVP it was not hard to target Medical Generator. I found the dark skin tone to be the most difficult obstacle (because some hallways are poorly lit).
Height is not an issue in PVP. The name was ... cute. Giggle-worthy. The dark skin was offset easily by the fact that the moment the player uses any weapon, even from the darkest hidey hole or corner of a pvp map ... the flash from the energy weapon makes the target easy to spot.

I sign this.
It is a punishment to play a canon species. No matter which you play, you always come out worse than the alien. This game has at least 70 % space combat, yet no species except alien can have 4 space traits. Many people dislike ground, so having 4 ground traits instead isn't for everyone.
Star Trek is about different lifeforms and aliens and all, but it is not about aliens that are all the only of their kind. Its about cultures. About how these aliens live. You always see a planet or a ship full of aliens of the same species, not a planet full of random 'gzxwwmp45's with not even 2 looking alike. That's not called Star Trek, that's called childish players that forget one big point: This game is based on decades of canon. Unlike WoW, which is its own canon.
1- Accuracy. This one is a non-issue due to how space combat works. A 10 percent increase in a skill that no one needs an increase in, is ... not game breaking.
2- Elusive. See above. Same difference. Only less useful since diminishing returns on defense makes it all ... not worth thinking about.
3- Astrophysicist. This and the two engineering traits end up being ... not much of an issue. Their impact is minimal. And I'm pretty sure every race can get any of those three, IIRC.
4- Warp Theorist. See above.
5- Techie. See above.
6- Symbiont. Well, I hate to mention this one for a couple of reasons. First, ALIENS can't have it. Second, it's from a race not everyone can be.
7- The human trait that lets you repair faster. Again, aliens can't have it.

From your continued posting about your hatred for small players and feeling cheated becuase you cant roll a decnet toon, I can only assume your a whinning little child who lives in his moms basment ranting all day about how there is a rivet out of place on your starship. GROW UP
Its just a game, if you cant be bothered to make a decent toon and just choose one of the stock builds you have only your self to blame.
People like you who have no imagination are the ONLY thing bad about STO.
What if you wanted to play a Talaxian? Or an android? Neither of them are likely to be made part of any single faction?
Thats a very good point.......leave the aliens alone! they're here legally. Anyhoo consider it as offering a way to tweak a char more to your liking. After all not all of the good traits come available to aliens....the cannon races have thier own special ability that aliens just don't get access to.
Stop asking for devs to come along and save you because you can't be bothered how to deal with the unexpected.

We all play the same game, we just play it differently. Just because you have trouble targeting the small folks doesn't mean the rest of us do.
Here is a fundamental truth about all pvp. Just because you can't pwn someone doesn't mean you are a loser. Whining about it makes you the loser. You have to learn to work together, balance your strengths and weaknesses and stop QQing because you don't get a Iwin button. You might win, you might lose but at least you can walk away with your self respect intact.
I really don't care or have a problem with small aliens for their height. Usually they look just as ridicolous as the maximum height aliens with the bulk slider on max, wearing kits and armor close to space marines.
I have a few aliens, mainly because the parts were offered in the creator and its very unlikely we get them as real playable species, too. I have a Yridian (though I do hope they are considered for upcoming factions), a Vorta (which I haven't started to level, unhappy about the hair and all) and a hybrid - because there is no Cardassian, and I can't be any hybrid due to the limited creation options in the creator.
The real problem are also not the traits. Let me take the chance to once more point out that not all have 'unique traits aliens can't pick'. Some, yes, but not all. My main problem is - I can't be both a Trek fan and a PvP player. I can't remember when I was *ever* on a map that looked like a Star Trek fight to me. There is no such thing as 5 Klingons fight 5 Fed species. There is usually 2 or 3 out of 10 players having a real playable species, 6 aliens that look completely ridicolous or are made to look like a canon species but with 4 selected traits, and 1 or 2 species that belong in the other faction (keyword: Fed Klingon is the only Klingon on the map, while the KDF team is 2 female Orions and 3 ridicolous looking aliens.)
I have to make my choice if I want to play Star Trek - then I can only do PvE - or if I want to play random space fantasy alien fighting game - then I can do PvP. And I'm too much of a fan to forget Star Trek when I play... well, STAR TREK Online.
I made the mistake once of playing a Tauren in WOW pvp and I couldn't see around myself very easily to target those tiny Gnome characters. I was also so big I stood well above those Gnomes and was easily targettable by other Alliance all across the zones.

Here's the thing though. You don't have to have any specific traits to be good at pvp. If that is what you are talking about. If you are talking about the fact that people like to play aliens and not canon races. Consider that all the Klingons have are Orions, Gorn, Nausicans and Klingons verses the number of species the Feds have.

Not the obvious choices for each faction - not human or Vulcan on Fed side, and not Klingon on KDF side. I'm fine with that. I wouldn't mind having a PvP match of 2 Pakleds, a Tellarite, a Ferengi and an alien made to look Ocampa vs. 2 Gorn, a Nausicaan, an Orion and an alien made to look like a Hirogen. Its not exactly a canon combination on either side. But its Star Trek. 5 random aliens vs 5 random aliens, maybe with silly names like BG Q'uok or Commander Q'umVast, or various other puns a 15 years old might find funny is not Star Trek.
I don't care that much what traits they have, or if they are a 'playable species' - as long as it looks Star Trek and not 'I hit randomize on all options and my name is the result of hitting the keyboard with my head'. Its an entirely visual issue for me.

Wow, friend. You're the one taking this so seriously you're about to have a QQ attack. I posted here on a whim because I find OP Alien builds to be annoying. I didn't lose any sleep over it or even give it a second thought until I stumbled upon this thread again and saw your crazed, obsessive attack on me. It's only a game, dude. Calm down and read a book or something. lol.

Efficient.
