THe three nacceled Enterprise from the episode "All Good Things" is going to be given as an award. And it's TIER 5

However here's the catch.
You only get it after refering five friends to create an account and get them to subscribe for a month.

Cool I was waiting for the details on the referral program. Glad to see you have to work at it (or buy/sub five accounts) for it. One question to the devs - what CATEGORY ship will be able to use the skin, or will ALL be able to use it?

I want that ship so Badly...

I have a couple of questions though.

1.) Are the accounts going to be tracked by e-mail accounts?
2.) Assuming that you have a family, does having the same Credit Card count against this system? I'm thinking of getting this as a gift for my Dad and I want to surprise him with it.

I hope it will be all categories. I don't know how I feel about this. I love love that ship and getting one person to buy the game and subscribe for a month will be hard let alone five.

However it's a clever way and inccentive to get more people into the community.

Well I have three people that are bugging me about details on the game. One for sure would get it just because it's Trek, the others would probably opt in if they wait til late summer and some of the changes in the pipe. As this isn't a limited time offer, as the game matures and improves I am pretty sure I could find another two at least to play. I won't be rushing out to find recruits with the current state of the game though.

I might have to refer myself 5x, because no one I know (who isn't playing already) will touch this game.

The downer is their first month is free if they purchase the game so they could decide not to stay for the second month and subscribe. Seems like you could go through a lot of wasted effort just to get 5 people to subscribe their second month. Unless that free month counts... which I doubt.

I'm not sure I want to invest the time or energy for these incentives.:(

Also seems like you would be waiting a while for these incentives to kick in.

I am against this if there will be no other way to get it. Many people like myself have no way to recruit 5 people. It may be possible to get 1 person to get the holographic bridge officer, but 5? If Cryptic makes this refer all exclusive, I will be vehemently against it. The All Good Things Galaxy should have been the 400 day Veteran reward, instead of the Captain's Yacht. Everybody will be able to get the 400 day reward, but not everyone will be able to recruit 5 people.

I seriously wonder how many people will pay for this themselves, after seeing multiple pre-order purchases from a single player, I am willing to bet a few. Not saying its wrong, but I dont have 5 friends that would play a MMO, let alone a star trek MMO.

Well I can only hope like everything else, that eventually it will be a C-store release. Also wondering if it will have warp 13 too. :p

i agree with shikamaru. i don't know many MMO players and everyone else isn't even open to the idea of playing the game. My gf and brother already have lifetimes, so i'm pretty SoL. But i do tend to pretty much preach "sucks to be you" to people who say things like this.

Doesn't bother me. If I decide I want it bad enough, I'll buy five one month subs. I'm sure I can get a few people to try the game, though.

Lots of nice incentives, for sure.

I'd love to get my hands on the Holographic Tribble & Bridge Officer (especially if it's a female or is gender selectable).

I'm not so jazzed about the T5 ship, though. I guess if it had Universal Officer & Console Slots, it'd be the Best of Both Worlds (shameless Trek episode plug)!

I agree completely. I could see some people trying it out but even as an LTSer, might currently be hard pressed to get some friends to buy and pay for a month especially with other very hot games coming out on pc, console etc...

You know it's funny. Way back when Cryptic did this with the Valentines Day event for City of Heroes and got such a backlash they swore they had learned the error of their ways and would never introduce rewards like this for recruiting again. Well, here we are again.

Most players who have friends that would play the game have already recruited them via CE buddy cards, buddy codes, etc.. And now we're supposed to recruit more to get these things? Well, I'm fresh out of friends that would want to play this game. So, I guess I'm SOL now. Maybe I should go to an airport with a bunch of flowers and recruit new players like the Hare Krishnas recruit new cult members.

Thanks Cryptic! Real smart way to gain new players while at the same time disgruntling your current players.

Your marketing department is run by idjots.

The only way I see myself getting is is buying the game for the holidays, and give it and 15 bucks to family.

not making enough money through the C-store that they resort to this TRIBBLE?

they should spend more time working on the game and less time on ridiculous promotions like this. after the last 1.1 patch being a complete buggy untested mess you'd think they would try and straighten out their priorities.

how about simply releasing the godamn ship for free in the next update? whatever happened to adding free content to the game?? make it a drop from Terrordome STF or something. a monkey could design this game better.

who says this won't appear on the c-store?

well let's see, 5 copies of the game + 1 month sub for each would amount to about £150, that would equal about 20-25k C-points, it would just be ludicrous to have something so expensive on the c-store.

    ...........

So I need to get five people to buy the game and then pay for a month?

Gamestop is selling normal edition for 30 bucks....

    30 x 5 = 150

Five subscriptions at 15 a piece....

    5 x 15 = 75

    150 + 75 = 225

    ....for a...ship...>_>....

    Well, that's for people who can't get five people to sub. I'm pretty sure I'll get another copy and sub it just for the holo officer....if it turns out to be something cool but...man... I've ALWAYS wanted that ship in this game. I used to play Bridge Commander with that thing for hours on end...and now...-_-;

It feels kind of like a low blow but hey... that's some incentive to get people to try this game...

From an Aesththetic point of view, the AGT Enterprise is ugly as hell. Nobody would dream of taking a classic Jaguar and putting fins and a fifth wheel on it to make it look "cooler". Andrew Probert designed the Galaxy class to have a very distinctive look which gets destroyed by all those tacked on bits.

The only way I'd even want this ship is if it had the superphaser mounted on it, which I highly doubt is the case here.

I assuming you ignored all the other benefits (including c-store points) you'd get as well.:
Once your recruit has subscribed to the game for a month, you’ll earn:

    * A new title: Recruiter.
    * An exclusive Holographic Bridge Officer (works with Federation and Klingon players).
    * 400 Cryptic Points.

For each additional recruit that subscribes to the game, you’ll receive an additional 400 Cryptic Points. Once you’ve recruited five subscribers, you’ll receive these great rewards:

    * A new title: Master Recruiter
    * A special ship: The Tier 5 "All Good Things" Galaxy Class.

Note that the ship is "special" but not exclusive.
Why would it be if it's being used a recruitment bonus?

It could be on c-store (or even vet rewards) because it isn't the only recruitment bonus - also the language above. There are a lot of people jumping to conclusions.

Be sure to read the fine print on the Referral page:

Note: Some game play restrictions apply for recruits, see FAQ. While supplies last. Only active subscribers to Star Trek Online can send invitations. For the recruiter to qualify for the Star Trek Online purchase rewards, recruits must enter a valid Star Trek Online retail Product Registration Key. To qualify for the subscription rewards, recruits must be billed for at least a one month of subscription.

you can't run out of supplies of some 1's and 0's in a database

If you got stickler friends, STO is just not going to cut it with them. Hmmm STO or Lost Planet 2? Or STO or Split Second or Red Dead Redemption etc...or SC3 which comes out July 27th and so on.

Good point. I just wanted people to see the fine print, in case they missed it. I'm curious why they'd have that redded clause, though.

Or the "Going Rogue" expansion for "City of Heroes" ($40 USD -- *with* add-on pack).

Still, it's a great recruitment incentive package for STO players.

It is what you get for recruiting 5 people and it's the only incentive for recruiting 5 people because paying $5-$10 worth of Cryptic points for the ship is far easier than trying to convince friends to try something, buy it and pay a month when if you know them well enough you know whether or not it's their type of thing or not.
