Swords? What sword? You have a sword? Bat'leths are not swords.
Swords are designed to slash and stab opponents and to counter attacks from other swords.
Bat'leths are designed to give you arm cramp.

Bat'leth is Klingon for "Sword of Honor".

Hey guys, I can call a chopstick a sword if I really want to.
It'll still be a chopstick.
And you can keep coming up with ridiculous, inapplicable comparisons, but it'll still be an edged weapon with a hilt and the word "sword" in its name, unlike either of your counter examples.

Seriously though we need some swords and more melee choices. Sulu's Rapier, or retractable sword thingie from the movie. Or all those great melee weapons the Nausicaans use in game. Especially that dual blade one.
They're there. Just let us loot them. Would that be so wrong?

Your face is a sword.
Sorry, it's the only ridiculous thing I could say for this ridiculous comparison. I hope it sounded just as ludicrous.
But as one can see, the definition of the word sword is very broad (no pun intended):
noun
1.
a weapon having various forms but consisting typically of a long, straight or slightly curved blade, sharp-edged on one or both sides, with one end pointed and the other fixed in a hilt or handle.
It also varies by culture, not just for Klingons, but also for different real-life cultures.

just my opinion but i thought sulu`s sword in the movie ( newest one i presume we are refering to ) was more katana like than rapier like .....

Sulu's sword in TOS was a rapier. His sword in the movie was more katana-like, even though he stated his combat skill was 'fencing.' I was referring to both.

Funny, a bat'leth does not have this
Also,
Is this a sword?
Actually, the Bat'leth has everything on that list except a tassel, and isn't the only sword whose pommel is another blade.
No, but this is.
And those "swords" are badly designed too.
Point evaded, concession accepted.
I'm sorry, I thought "No" was a plain enough answer for you. I'll try to use smaller words next time.
I can cut bits off just fine with a rifle.
and i thought the samurai had a bad time agaist bullets
This is the quote of the day!!
My friend has the exact same type of double sided sword the thing is awsome beyond believe and sharp
I agree we should have a different type of sword like a Scottish claymore now that's a sword!!
You can make anything sharp, question is: how good is the steal?
If I have to use a sword, I don't want to have to wait for them to bleed out from a gazillion cuts.
Borg are tough. I want something that will get it done.
borg don't bleed, i'd still rather stick with a water bottle, maybe short em out
actually the bat'leth has 3 hilts (sometimes one depending on the model)
And your 2nd link just shows how you can't come up with a actual argument as to why a bat'leth is not a sword.
EDIT: fixed my comment on the hilts

You have a spoon? I want a spoon! Where'd the spoon drop?
