Improving transporters / away teams

So, I've been thinking about how the current transporter system could be improved. I think most people are rather hoping for a usable transporter room when the Ship Interiors update goes live. This in itself is one facet, another being an update to the UI to provide better immersion and facilitate those scenarios where multiple planets/ships/bases are within range, and where there are a number of suitable beam-in sites.

To that end I've had a little play around in Paint;

BeamUI.jpg

I think it mostly speaks for itself!

Any thoughts?

    You need to promote the rest of your bridge officers. :p

    I like it.

    But I'd change the button to "Energize". :)

    It could be even more fun when we'd be able to actually walk to our transporter room, in our ship, and activate everything from there. :D

    That would have meant copy-pasting eight letters rather than four though!

    Another thing I forgot to add in the OP that would be cool - environmental factors. Like, the planet has a 10% reduction in plasma weapon damage, or has a parasite deadly to Bajoran officers, or has no atmoshere thus requiring an EVA suit. The genesis system should be able to come up with some interesting combinations.

    I fully support this. It looks great and adds a little detail where it's needed. :)

    That is a really nice mock-up.

    Personally I cannot wait until interiors get in. It would be really slick to walk to my transporter room and pull up a similar interface from the controls. I could forsee two captains performing a sensor sweep and beaming into different locations to take a group of enemies by surprise.

    Also really nice ideas for planetary hazards. Makes having a full complement of bridge officers an advantage. Right now I just stick with 4 until I start unlocking the high level rare officers.

    Another thought; when in a team you'd have not only transporter destinations on *your* ship, but also a view of team mates ship's layout so you can request to beam directly to their sickbay or ready-room... :D

    Pfft. Lightweight. Get back to me when you've had to copy-paste edit multiple lines of text to add one letter. That the client forgot! :)

    Actually, I think you did a good job with the tools you had.

    Of course, the devs would have to make up all those stats for every single destination we might transport to, but it would sure enhance the game.

    I love it. I hope when we get functional interiors we can get something like this, but even before that it'd be a great bit of immersion. Especially the planetary data bits.

    Actually I would love to see some reason to be on the bridge in general

    How about map travel what if that was all done from inside a bridge with the travel map on screen?
    We could still have the option to go all travel map?

    I definitely support something like this. Even something as simple as a pop-up or splash screen would definitely add quite a lot to the Star Trek 'feel' of the game an my feelings of immersion.

    So we're in agreement then. I'll note it down as an action for Cryptic;
      Halt all work on Klingon PvE content, ship interiors, additional sectors and PvP maps, refocus efforts on new transporter system.

    ;)

    [activates orbital particle beam weapons system]

    Well, I'm not sure I like it that much.

    I like it. but i would love to see the ability to target my own beam down coordinates. I would also like to see the ability to split up a team "away team" I and my crew beam down to x and other party memeber and her crew beam down to y and use a pincher movement on the enemy.
