Type of pugger that drives you nuts.

I thought I'd just throw this post up to help people vent. What pugger teammate type do you hate the most?

For me, as a cruiser captain, it's gotta be the escort pilot with no situational awareness. The ones that when I throw ES on them they fly at full speed away from me. Or, when I throw ES on them, and they ignore the two escorts that are blasting the snot out of me, and go after the cruiser with RSP popped.

A close second is the cruiser captain that I just saved with an ES, only to not get one back when I'm targeted by everyone, since most players know the cruisers are vulnerable for 15 seconds after they pop ES.

Fed players to afraid of dieing to ever leave the fed ball around one flag.
You cannot win, I dont care how many kills you get if you do not capture flags.

Players who wait for someone else to form a team. The first thing anyone should do when entering a PUG match is click on their nearest ally, "request to join" if that option is available, and otherwise invite to team. Sometimes you'll find two teams starting, but it's usually quick and easy to consolidate them.

I almost always start whatever team I'm on. Whats sad is that very often I arrive to the fight late, and end up forming the team in the middle of fighting and healing. It would be so much simpler if I could just "request to join" when I come in.

    Where shall I begin?

    1. Puggers that receive an extend and go ahead and pop RSP anyway.
    2. Puggers that receive an extend, ET or HE (or any combination thereof) and proceed to run away once all of my healing abilities are on CD.
    3. Puggers that continue to focus fire on an RSPed/Extended target.
    4. Puggers that refuse to heal.
    5. Puggers in cruisers that refuse to heal (this deserves its own special mention because these pilots are a very special kind of d-bag).

Can you tell I'm a cruiser pilot yet?

Any idiot that charges solo into the middle of the battle like he's going to do anything except explode like he did the previous fourteen times in every ****ing match.

I dont know I have been in games where we sent a few guys to just keep attacking the ball o' ships in the cloud while we captured the rest of the flags then laughed when at the end of the game they bragged about the killing they did when they lost the match 1200 to 0.

Players who intentionally give up defeats to the other team, usually followed by a post something along the lines of: "I don't care. I just want to finish this daily," in zone chat.

People who call me rude for asking them to leave the team they are in (that has people all the way from delto volanis to Iks Worving) so that they can join the team that everybody else in the match is in.

hes talking about arenas, where you lose if they get kills.
But yeah I sometimes put on 5 RSP and head to the enemy respawn point and use HZ 2 and 1 to keep up with bleed through and put all power to shields and its funn how like 6 pople will atack me when the others capture the map.

    Everyone's answer should be: O'neil
He combines absolutely every negative characteristic a pugger can possibly show.

You mean O'Neil the exploiter, that can switch sides in Ground FvK whenever he wants?

This is a very frustrating thing in FvK and it really astounds me how people would queue up in an area that supposedly takes the longest to pop just to TRIBBLE over four other people. Policy and general customer services practices set by other well known MMOs dictates that nothing will ever be done about this so I moan and groan a bit and try to make the best of it.

It's too bad we can't have a stickied thread with a comprehensive list of "bad" things. It won't fix the situation, but it probably might influence a few more players into doing something for the greater good of the team and promote a more vibrant PVP experience for the community.

    People that don't heal
People who fight others miles away from any capture point
Klingball (granted Klingball > Fedball but seriously....)
People who actually let the other team lead them away from the capture point
People who only sit at a capture point until it turns white then run off

To be honest, I kind of like the randomness of entering a PUG. Everyone is different.

I rarely have problems with Klingon PuGs :)

I see way too many things go wrong for Feds - I've witnessed all of these things happen before and I feel sorry for you guys hehe.

klink pugs generally require less teamwork to be effective because of the alpha strike. if the fed team doesn't have teamwork then the feds won't survive it. If the fed team actually has teamwork and survives the alpha strike then it tends to go downhill for the klinks, because most klinks don't plan for what happens when the alpha strike fails. Generalizations, yes, it is the general truth though.

I completely agree with you here. It always takes more coordination, teamwork, and reflexes reacting to a cloak attack, than picking the first target from the safety of cloak. And of course, we all know, 3000 more hull and slightly more shield strength amount to virtually nothing right now with DPS through the roof.

    Fed side:
Cracked planet type missions: The Leroy Jenkins syndrom, where one guy runs ahead of the pack and gets slaughtered by the other 5 members of the team... repeatedly...
Other wise everything else has been mentioned here..
Cap & Hold: The guys that don't try to stay together and capture points, but just run off to get killed by the Fed/Klingon Ball that's actively capturing points instead. Nothing wrong with one or two guys making sure multiple points aren't being capped at once, but come on...

    Klingon side:
afk cloakers.. You know.. the morons that just fly to a spot on the map cloaked and afk the match? This is universal for 5v5 Matches and cap and hold..

Arrogant escorts/raptors/BoP that think they can take on the entire enemy team because they have great dps. That and smack talkers when it's 15-0 or close to it. Makes me want a boot function so badly that and for Fire on My Mark to work on Friendlies...

What is truly left to mention? I suppose I can add:

    1) Players who wine about a "Broken" skill and ignore all responses on how to counter it.

    2) Players who waste an SNB 14s into an RSP (specifically on Cruisers you know to have one or more versions waiting)

    3) Anyone, for the love of god, who solo FI's into a 5v5 when there is only one person left up from their team.

And I believe there is an honorable mention in everyone's post about players who lack any self (and group) healing. Or cruiser pilots who whine about B:TSS 1-3 without even having EPtS on their toolbar, and specifically in the case of Engineer/Cruiser combos that are incapable of adjusting power levels mid combat and tossing EPS on themselves to boot.

    /rant

And as an aside, if you don't have the mojo (TSS3) but do have TSS2, and see a cruiser extending your MT, then please hit that cruiser with TSS1/2 to cut down on his Extend power if you insist on killing that target before the cruiser.

Fed cruiser and sci-captains who don't understand that escorts NEED PROTECTION...

My Maelstrom is a perfect A+ target for any Klink in PvP. And it's pretty frustrating to see that a random fed-team is completely unable to even think about team-play.

I won't PvP anymore without joining a fleet before. Hope, this will do!

wrong you can use the alpha strike excuse to explain yourself after the last "fix" to cloak.
But you can of course continue to spam your rsp, rsf while you wait for the escorts to do all the work for you.

itt: I stomp klink pugs all the time.

strong DPS requires less coordination than strong heals. thats a simple fact of life, its easier to blow stuff up than rebuild it.

Klinks build to capitalize on alpha strike so that the opponent doesn't have a chance to react. Its part of the feds job to open enough time between reaction and death that they can kill the klinks before the klinks kill them.

racing DPS against survivability. With the alpha strike klinks generally don't need to invest in survivability unless the feds invest in survivability.

I have grown tired of seeing folks who are contributing almost nothing to the team effort yet talking the most smack. It is particularly annoying when that person is the one with the most deaths and fewest kills, the escort with the lowest DPS, or the cruiser with the least healing - but has zone chat smacktalk in spades.

There are several immature, often ignorant children in STO who are carried to victory by superior players.

    ME.

I seem to have a knack for getting too close to the Feds that have the Auto Defense Turret. Nice and cloaked, then boom given away by this piece of equipment that can spot me even when inviz.
