I have been a fleet leader since 4 weeks after the head-start launch. I like most of the functions, but IMO there are some missing, that would be natural to add, or change:
Mute Member: In the beginning we had a member who just did'n know how to shut up. Being negative and more or less harassing our US fleetmembers (she seemed to have an attitude towards them). Usually I would have just kicked her, but she was a founder, and a highly active and contributing member, she deserved a chance to explain herself. Unfortunally as I don't have the option to mute her, and force her into a chat with me and the other officers in the fleet, all I could do was attempt to make her have a private chat with me... Needless to say that she did'n want that.
So instead I had to create a new rank called muted, where the members who have this rank assigned, can only do chat with fleet officers.
From what I understand games such as WoW have the ability to do exactley this, and several members back then asked me why I just did'n do that. Now I am asking you: Why can't i mute members?
This brings me to my next wish:
Fleet promotions: As it is ATM, when I want to promote a member from say Rank 1 to Rank 4, i have to promote the member throug rank 2 and 3. This is highly ineffective, especially for me, since member's alt's share privileges in my fleet. So if Member X has a primary with fleet rank 6, and goes ahead and creates a ALT and joins the fleet, I have to promote the member all the way throug the lower ranks before the member finally reaches the level it is supposed to be in.
Could we probably get a dropdown for this, along with the current feature?
While on topic Ranks:
7 Ranks: Now i figure you guys thought somthing like: Cadet, Ensign, Lt., Lt. Cmdr. Cmdr, Capt and Rear Admiral, when you made the 7 ranks assigned to all fleets. This is all fine and good BUT: Why can't we create more? I'd really like to be able to make more ranks in my fleet, to enhance the abilities given to specific ranks.
Rank Permissions: This is a highly anoying topic for me: Why can't i say: Allow this rank to promote to Rank X.
Right now my ranks may only promote below or to rank. Why not allow me to define a specific rank-limit that my members can promote to? Say I have my rank 5 and I want to be able to let him promote to rank 3. Either I have to let him promote to rank 4 or 5... nothing less. Does that make sense?
Bank Tabs: Why why why not more than the current limit? I don't get it. Please let us buy more.
And of cause the usual ranting: Why not Fleet-starbases/offices, when will the fleet logos go live? and so on and so on.
To Sum up:
- Ability to mute members regardless of rank.
- Dropdown to promote directley to a specific rank.
- Option to add more ranks.
- Define a rank limit for superiour officers to promote to, rather than just "below" or "to rank".
- More bank tabs.
muting people? what? I don't recall WoW ever having that feature. it sounds really dumb anyway. although I can see the appeal for a fleet leader wanting to take away one of their members rights to speak. heh.

I never played WoW myself, i just got this info from others in my fleet who had.
But every now and then it could be nice to make people STFU... (refering to my above statement).
let me get this straight. You want to mute your fleet members? Why would you have a person in your fleet who you don't want to speak? Remove him. More importantly why would I want to be in a fleet who's response to my words is to not allow me to express those words. Incredible.
As for promotions, that's just how it works in games. People are allowed to promote up to their rank. it's pretty standard.
It seems that you want to have more control over your members and micro-manage them to the extent that not everybody ( within ranks ) is equal.
I'd be hot-footing it out of there in an instance. I don't like to wear the swastika.
I agree completely with this.
There are several occasions one would want to be able to mute on of ones members, one being as a form of disciplinary action for violating a fleets rules of conduct, something that often must be punished but may not neccesarily result in being "kicked out".
I think what he means is being able to "mute" on the fleet chat, which is revoking all chat rights from that channel.
And its something i would find quite useful as far to often some of my fleetmembers tend to get into a bad habit.
