If Cryptic increases incentives for people to stay on board longer, this will have a higher probability of a larger subscription base. If there is a good subscription base, Cryptic will have more of a need to take a closer look at how STO is going.
On the other hand, if there isn't a good subscription base, STO will fail and that lifetime account isn't quite so great.
My point is that it probably doesn't do any good to bury yourself in a hole demanding "special" rights. At a certain point, your lifetime account will have more than paid off anyway and that is the advantage of a lifetime membership, not the gimmicks that come with.
So what if veterans get a liberated borg, Captain's Table and other niceties. Remember that they help keep the game alive that you invested so much of your money into.
It's kinda like you can either scream alone or smile together.
Hope that clears things up a bit. I mean, where's the need in being selfish anyway?

You do know that it was really only two people QQ about it right?

Most of the lifers are all-for giving long-time subscribers the same perks they got. Its a minority of lifers that are complaining.
Personally, I regret spending the money. That money could have gotten me way better satisfaction in other games than this one, that is for sure.
I want the game to succeed, I really do (even though I made a post railing against Cryptic) but all my enthusiasm for the game is gone.
Wasted money, yes. Hope for the best? Sure.
I for one have never asked for special treatment or special items. I've never asked for anything special for myself. I invested money into the game, got a lifetime subscription, because I expected the game to be more than what it has turned out to be. I was hoping this game would finally put an end to my WoW playing, that I could focus on a genre and IP that I really liked. I want to love this game, and I have hope that it will turn out better than it currently is, but as of right now, I really find it hard to log in.
I know it's young still, but I've seen the posts, I've felt the rancor and frustration in them. I've seen this before in all the new MMO's in the last 2-3 years. It's he same trend.
I'm with you OP, to hell with special stuff for lifers, they don't need it. How's about work on the game instead of costumes, perks, titles, and stupid TRIBBLE like that? Polish it, and stop rushing stuff out, it doesn't help.

I whole heartedly agree with this. These little fluffy perks don't make me log into the game. They don't make it any more fun. If this game were good to begin with... then yea, the extras would be nice, but as it is... a captain's table is little incentive for me to log in.
I've removed my "blue title" in protest. These are desperate little attempts to hold on to what subscriber base is left.

I agree, but the latest patch actually changes the game quite a bit, the difficulty slider in particular making me have to think when I play is a step in the right direction. Still they have a pretty long way to go but maybe by September well get a good game? I'm thinking season 2 will have a lot of delays and underwhelming interiors/diplomacy. I can't even see a huge studio like Blizzard or Bioware making anthropology or first contact fun.
Although CoH also had veteran rewards and they wern't implemented as a desperate measure to hold onto a failing subscriber base so it might just be par for the course that Cryptic offers things for veterans.

With single player games if you don't like something about it, there's very little moaning will do (some games remain unpatched and almost unplayable). With a MMO, everyone can complain if there's a single thing they don't like, and each complain thread will be an opportunity for other people to add their list of complaints. It can be anything, from criticising a small detail on one of the models, to people wanting open PVP. On a forum all it takes is a few people moaning a lot to make it seem the entire community is up in arms.
You do have a point. It's just the trend the last few years for new mmo's is to die horribly and very quickly, because the games were rushed and no real communication between the players and people running the show.
There's some stuff that Cryptic is doing well, but then falling woefully short on, just like those other mmo's.
Back on topic, lifers should have anything special. There doesn't need to be special things handed out to lifers on a monthly basis just because we're lifers. Forum name color, sure. Different type of com badge in game, sure. We don't need anything else, imo.
Wait?!? Lifers are ranting?!? WTF... Show me their puny little frigates, and I will blow them to pices.
I really don't care if eventually you all get the Liberated Borg (I will still be FAR ahead of the rest of them), Captains Table (that place really is a waste of time anyways), or a Red Matter Capacitor (because then i would get one as well ).
What I do care about is that it was said the LB was a limited offer, exclusive to people who ordered lifetime before Feb 2'nd. I would not have an issue with the rest of you because you got it, but I would have an issue with Cryptic because the broke a promise, but the rest of you guys should not get punished because they fail.
So if you get all theese cool features: QUICK USE THEM. If you have access to them, why shouldn you.
