I pointed these out in the WoK jacket thread. They've been in game since beta but nobody sees them since TTS just pulls random uniforms and so the odds of these being in a given run are fairly low.
IMHO, the thing to do with these is probably to package them with an extended cut of Abrams Trek. I could see one coming out around Christmas. There are some deleted scenes on the DVD for the standard Deluxe Edition but I imagine Paramount will want to move some Trek DVDs around Christmas (Hence a "Star Trek 1.5" or "Director's Cut" with deleted scenes cut in and some new commentary and features) and that will be a good time to introduce larger audiences to STO.
I'd point out that both this and the WoK jacket are closer to Paramount's half of the license than CBS' and are probably tied to promotions that Paramount is involved in.
It might have been a "rough draft" of the TOS uniforms before someone at the office pointed out the new movie ones were different from the originals.
We all know how little resemblance the initial version of the female uni bore to the actual TOS one.
That's a lot of extra work to do and it would potentially be a violation of a licensing agreement to leave it in game since Cryptic doesn't have licensing on the JJ uniforms without special direct approval from Paramount. However, given that they worked with Paramount on the WoK uniforms, I suspect they wanted something to do as a promotional tie-in with the JJ Abrams projects.
Barring anything else, it might be cool as a promo with IDW on their extended Star Trek movie adaptation which takes all the deleted and unfilmed scenes (some of which cover HOW the timeline was changed in ST2k9).
IMHO, what would really rock is a giant hardcover collecting COUNTDOWN (which ties into the game and the film), NERO (which covers Nero's missing years), SPOCK (a prequel to COUNTDOWN), ST 2k9 extended adaptation and puts them all together in one master volume... with a game code.
interesting. no doubt we can expect to see these on the C-store in the future!
rather than make them rewards from an STF or something to actually enhance gameplay, I mean.
lol i would be in and out of whatever mission their in just to get em :O .. well... the mirror ones .. they seem popular on the demand list.... atleast in game... here its all..
"captains table.. mine all mine "
"No borgies before spoon heads"
*No borgies"
I would like to hear a Dev comment on this. Will this be a C-store item? Also, if Cryptic is allowed to use these uniforms, does that mean they are allowed to use the JJ-prise design?
I would honestly rather this be an NPC only uniform unless it's tied into a promotion to draw in movie goers and if we see NPCs wearing it, just keep it restrained and have it be about an NPC crew from the JJ-verse that attempted to track Nero's point of origin.

I'll tell you what: if the Devs do decide to make this uniform available to players, I wont make you wear it

I love the movie. I'm just sayin', I think this kind of uniform calls for extra story rationale.
Have a questchain with a JJ verse crew and have accolades attached that unlock the uniform.
Most uniforms in game have a story rationale behind them.
Honestly, as much as I want the AGT/Visitor/Endgame uniforms, I kinda think those call for some storyline rationale to since they come from a conflicting version of the game's present. Like we should crossover to the other 2409 where those uniforms are used or something.

Remember two things: first, the only real difference between this uniform and what we already have in game is the little pattern. Second, from a story point of view no one in the "prime" universe even knows about the new movie universe, so theres technically no reason they would think this isnt just some variant of the original design if they saw it. Its not like they would see it and think "that must be from another universe" and need some kind of explanation for it

Fair enough. I could go for the Kelvin uniforms easier since they're theoretically also worn in the Prime timeline and command wearing blue seems like a throwback to the bright blue jumpsuits worn by bridge officers in the later Enterprise episodes.

It's not the only difference. There's also the lines in the fabric around the V-neck and from the shoulders to underarms. The V-neck also looks slightly different. It's most likely using the same bas of TOS uni but has some major differences.

We obviously have a very different definition of the word "major". The TOS and TNG uniform have "major" differences because they look very different. The TOS uniform and the JJ uniform have "minor" differences because they look very similar.

Well we do but that's okay. TOS is my favorite of all the Star Trek series and the uniforms are also my favorites also so i've noticed all the little details. The overall look is important and i'm just a little over anilytical.
Sorry for letting my nerd out:p

They have Zachari Quinto's Voice in the Game... the whole Hobus Nova plot / Romulus destroyed is a tie in to Abrams Trek, i don't think that would be a big licensing Problem and i see no Reason to not have these Uniforms as some kind of Bonus or C-Store item (or god beware it could be just FREE for once), it's a Costume Game allready, what are they gonna sell us when they burned through all the official Prime Universe Uniforms?
I'll say Intresting catch and bring it on, dont hold out on us Cryptic!
Oh and btw. where is the female Version?
Best thing in the game are still the Skirts

gosh i hope not! that would be so imposible becus it belongs in a alternet univrse!

If you somehow missed the OP, their ALREADY in STO's universe(on the NPC there is a pic of), so thats hardly an argument against it. Not to mention the mirror universe uniforms in game.
LMAO! By bug you apparently mean that it showed up on an NPC. Of course, that uniform didnt end up in game by some accient, so you guys obviously have plans for them. So now that the cats out of the bag, why not answer questions about it.
While I do understand the humor, in all seriousness making that uniform wasnt an accident. Even if whatever plans they had for it were scrapped, it was put in game for some reason.

they were a free give away on some website
