Really love what you have done with the difficulty slider Cryptic. Tried a few B'Tran missions on Elite and I have to say I really enjoy it.
In space it was nice that I actually had to pay attention to what I was doing and use some strategy. However, I still found it to be pretty easy. The enemies are definitely tougher and I like that they actually use abilities against you now. It is the first time I had to use Eng Team and Sci Team in a PVE mission since I cant remember when. It is still quite manageable however. I was able to take on all the ships just fine with only some minor bruising. Died twice being careless but I was still expecting it to be a little more difficult than it was. Elite in space is what I expected Advanced Difficulty to be but maybe I'm just good like that
On the ground against borg was quite challenging. I have my toon specced out to primarily use the batleth. I had to adjust my play style as borg were one hitting me with their melee attacks. I suffered so much of the death penalty on that ground map. Once I quit being stubborn and switched to ranged combat I was fine and only died 1 more time when my dog distracted me. I'm probably gonna respec my toon out of the melee and close combat skills because I dont think I'm ever leaving Elite and need to be more effective on the ground.
As far as the death penalty goes, I'd be lying if I said I like it. I think for what it is it is well implemented and as far as death penalties go I can live with this one. I plan on just permanently staying on Elite now so I guess I better get used to it.
Good job Cryptic and thanks for all the hard work you guys put in!!!
My only complaint with the new difficulty settings is that enemeis vary a LOT between different groups. In space the generic exploration mission enemies are tough and a bit of a challenge but reasonably manageable. However, the Borg Cubes are insane. I died 6 times trying to kill one last night with my escort. I'm convinced it can be done (and will try again tonight but man is it hard.
I tried advanced setting , got a ground cluster mission and well , me and my bo's got wiped out , after a while trying this setting i gave up , we all died so quick and easy got got so mant injurys it wasnt funny lol , and i didnt get one single drop for my efforts , so ill stick to normal and carry on getting rich lol
Killed 4 easy , wondered if the difficulty slider sometimes bugs out you know , wouldnt surprise me lol.
Then the 5th spawn bunch , a joke , on my 6th attempt , i kitted all my bos out before this with full stacks of heals and shield heals etc.
Now theyve used them all?!?!?! we all got major injuries , and for what? the rewards are same as normal mode, except i got a big bill to pay and have to rebuy all the heals etc.....

I agree with this post.
Also, I've noticed that the points value on my shields keep changing. This REALLY bothers me. I have a very rare Covariant Shield array that I got from doing the daily B'tran missions. The point value on this shield was 10,000 something. But I notice that the shield strength value goes up and down. Today It's at 7,838 strength.
I've placed a GM ticket, but this annoys the hell out of me. It took me nearly two weeks doing the daily missions and saving my marks of explorations to get this particular shield AT IT'S PARTICULAR STRENGTH VALUE.....
Then I shuffle on off to new missions and select the elite option NOT REALIZING I'M BEING PLACED AT A DISADVANTAGE.....
Now I'm asking, how many of my point values on weapons and equipment are acting all screwy on me too and I just haven't noticed?
Has this resulted in a few of my defeats? Because now, these defeats are costing me energy credits I'd rather use on something that entertains me and enhances my game experience, which repairing ship injuries DOES not.
And before anyone says these have been "nerfed" I just want to point out that the values have gone up as well as down. So this suggests to me that this is a bug. I get scanned at spacedock and They tell me my ship is okay so this isn't the result of a missed injury.
I'm all for a difficulty slider, I can even stomach a death penalty of sorts and the resulting consequences, SO LONG AS IT'S A FAIR CHALLENGE. But bugs TRIBBLE up my chances ARE NOT FAIR.

Okay folks, I've done some research and it appears that all of the Covariant Shields that had a 10,000+ maximum shield capacity have been reduced to a 7,838 shield capacity.
So yes, it' appears to have been nerfed.
I can tell you that they were nerfed, restored to original, then nerfed again..... Leading to my confusion and frustration. I thought that maybe I was doing something wrong and had damage affecting these points, or that it was some sort of bug, but alas since those shields are no longer being offered ANYWHERE, I can only assume it's been nerfed.
I WISH I had been notified about this SOMEWHERE. I checked the forums and to the best of my knowledge, this hasn't been specifically discussed anywhere, (it it has please show me and I will never mention this again), BUT this is an example of some of the FRUSTRATIONS experienced within this game. I spent valuable time, (that I payed for), looking into, reporting and researching this issue through the forums, that I could have spent been doing something MORE ENTERTAINING, which is the PURPOSE OF THIS GAME.

BTW scan missions dont count lol
Now on a ground mission , clear 5 borg spawns.
