Elite Cheat?

I started a new toon to play allways ELITE - if possible.

The challenge is great except the game seems to cheat in space combat!

Several times today I have had one of these three things happen;

1, NPC fires from well out of range - around 12k - 15k
2, NPC fires through obstacle I try to hide behind and I CANNOT fire through
3, NPC flies through or more correct 'jumps' past obstacle

I'm loving ELITE mode so far but come on Cryptice - make the game difficult on ELITE sure, but theres no need for NPCs to cheat like this.

Elite mode activates a special piece of logic called GLS.

GLS stands for "good luck sucker"

It allows the AI to "cheat."

The AI does not actually cheat, as it is still playing by the rules. In this case, there are no rules. For the AI anyway, you get stricter rules.

What is the name of this game?

    I Win, see? I win!

    I think he's cheating.

I heard there was cake on Elite mode. Is this still true?

Elite mode is Cake so far. Don't replay commander missions on Elite expecting to work up a sweat.

:) I did not actually ask for ELITE as it happens - I was almost anti DP / injury etc.

As it is I am liking ELITE - I just do not see why the NPCS need to cheat - it is tough enough.

Also the cheating in the way I describe nullifies some of the tactics I use and makes the game a pain rather than a joy.

I'm quite happy to get my backside kicked if the game does not cheat - it helps me rethink my tactics / gameplay and is a challenge.

I'm getting nostalgic for last week. And all the testing I did. All I can say is ... You've got so many new and interesting and death-causing bugs you've yet to encounter on this setting! You're gonna love it. It's so ... different from other forms of gameplay.

    :)

LOL - I tested on tribble some too - but I never saw these problems till now.

Ground combat on ELITE - now that is fun - especially being one shotted!! (Tribble and live tested.)

As far as I'm concerned, there's been NPC cheating for a while. THat Klingon Swordsman, for example, has over 2000 shields and health and does 200-300 damage with every attack with his Batlhetlh. MY Klingon with maxed melee skills has 400 shields, and does 12-24 damage with his Batlhetlh.

Yeah, they've cheated for a while. They're just more obvious about it on elite.

    I guess so.

And I know that there are levels of 'NPC cheating' in most games like this - to make them work. It is just so obvious on ELITE though.

I had already noticed previously the things you mentioned. I don't believe the new patch is responsible but merely made it more evident.
