Mission pod is non-essential, the second array is. This was probably a CBS decision and not a Cryptic decision...
what about Secondary means essential?
the ship has a primary deflector array and it uses that for all anomaly scanning. as implied the secondary array is just a backup and pretty much useless in the game, aside for adding or subtracting from the ship's looks depending on your point of view.
it was probably not included as an option as not to offend the artist who came up with the ship design(s) or maybe this idea just had not occured to cryptic.
i doubt CBS had any influence over a Startrek ship that never once appeared in an actual episode of startrek.
Dear god, yes, please let us turn the damn thing off. Or at LEAST give us some ability to shorten the pylon between the pod and bottom of the ship. Ever time I jump in mine I am reminded of a seaplane. Actually, I think the ship models are pretty sharp, save that one 'feature'.
I love the secondary array.
Especially the Oracle one because it reminds me of the Excelsior's secondary hull (except it doesn't fit properly on anything other than the Oracle saucer).
But if people want to turn it off completely, it should be an option.
CBS had some issues with the Nomad and asked for a redesign - so it had to be pushed out. It is being replaced by the Maelstrom (which is ready to go).
Yeah, those damn pods sticking down from the bottom of science vessels bothers the hell out of me. Nowhere in Star Trek do you see a design like that on a Federation ship.
A ships modeler posted that the request has been noted. But the 'power that be' has said no. And adding a 'None' option wouldn't be the easier thing to do. The height of the ship models and center of gravity seem to have been taken into account for the rolling that ships do when turning. Unless the models were realigned if the secondary array is removed, the ships would look very unrealistic when turning.
I always thought the underslung array was the deflector dish. As the deflector is usually located on the secondary hull and the secondary array is located on the primary hull/saucer.
either a "none" option or a no-pylon option for it so it's tucked closer to the hull would be cool. i'm also interested in a "non" option for the weird "plate" on top of the fleet escorts.

Well, at least in certain configurations the DSSVs seem to be inspired by the Oberth-class.
Also reading that article, it would seem that Voyager's nigh-omnipotent shields were not the only canon inspiration for science ships relying primarily on shields.
Maybe cryptic could chnge this so we have a second option instead of a secondary array, we could get a third warp nacelle instead if we wanted. the really long one, (oracle i wanna say) already looks alot like one just missing the red bussard collector.
the option of selecting a secondary array would still be there if you really wanted it, this would just be another option if the player didn't want the standard "truck nuts"

The nomad variant that was going to be released yesterday had to be scrapped and remade as the maelstrom because CBS didn't like it...
There was a Devpost by Dstahl stating they had to redo all the work because CBS rejected their finished product...
here is the devpost from yesterday...
Your avatar makes you look like a part of Team Jacob.
CBS has approval authority for anything and everything that appears in the game. That includes canonical and non-canonical ships.
This is true.
It is also the reason for the Nomad skin being pushed back.
give me a "none" option PLZ
