I guess the folks at Cryptic were listening when people were talking about ideas for rewarding long term players. Some of the rewards include bonuses to your skills. After 400 days, you get access to the Captain's Table. I now need to calculate how many days I have played since launch. Not including the days I did not play due to disconnects and other personal needs.
Considering that it only takes around 4 days of actual playing time to get to RA, I think the number of days is more as in "How long have you had an active account" rather than how much actual game time.
(btw to see your game played time, type /played)
Now, how long before the Lifers complain about the Captains Table at 400 days?

i doubt any lifer will complain...myself included
do you even know how long 400 days is? lol ($495, roughly to get 400 days of active account time)
but bravo to cryptic for this as they DIDN'T have to do anything.

Like Aeleys I couldn't care less if it's going to take 400 days for a veteran non-lifer to get access to the Captain's Table. Actually as far as a Vet Award idea for this game goes I think that's a pretty reasonable one.
Basically if there are any lifers out there who would seriously be upset by long time Vets getting access to that then they really need to get a grip and get over themselves. *shrugs*
maybe, but if they spend that much just to come and spam in a place i hardly visit. them let them lol
Yeah, put up a sign over the portal entrance of the Captain's Table that reads "gullible players inside". Then watch at the amazement of how many players are really there.:p
Yeah, one year is 365 days, so 400 days is a year +35 days. That should be more in the ballpark of $150-200 dollars, as subscription fees go.
Still, I don't see it as an issue myself. It's a year+ and folks with that much paid time in have shown they're sticking around and supporting the game. Be good to see them at the Captain's Table.
Edit: The math: 400/30 = 13.333. Paying monthly at $15/mo. is the most expensive rate you can get. If you pay 14x15=$210 -- you've certainly exceeded the 400 day mark and that's the most expensive subscription rate you can pay. (Note -- subscription fees. Not adding cost of box, etc. If you bought every retail version in existence so you'd have every perk, that's your own fault. Vet rewards are simply about time subscribed.) They may even count the initial 30 days included in the box toward the 400, in which case that price just dropped $15.

yea, its that much *if* you pay that way...
you dont have to pay 400 days worth all in one go.
if you play a month on or two, and then take a few weeks/months off then its still gonna cost you...
all depends on how you pay. why does everyone assume that people pay EVERY month without fail... lol

See math above. Okay, I stand corrected at a ballpark of $150-200. There's still no way you're paying over $400 for 400 days, unless you're doing something really bizarre and paying some third-party an exorbitant amount for an account you should be buying from Cryptic. (Which is probably a TOS violation.)
I worked out a lifers paid for 2 years. 2 years is less than 400 days so non lifers are getting a better deal but this applies so far just to the Captain's table. Lifers still get plenty of over perks and I've only been once and the rest of the time I'm out in space doign missions or transwarping to sol.....guess I could divert to the table I guess. It would be nice if the lifers and non lfier perks balanced out but in the end lifers won't be paying any more subs and some persk are exclusive to lifers though some could end being given to 'long term players'.
If they have planned out 400 day rewards I'd think that they aren't going to add any more for 100-400 so lib borg etc will be safe but that's not thinking about 500+ although 365*2 = 730 so not much longer to having paid for 2 years (and all the perks) anyway.
I was half kidding about the "complaining". It just seems that people complain about everything including the mess hall sink...
Personally, as a non lifer, I think these incentives are good to have - not essential to the game, but not just fluff either. Although I'm more pleased about the Refer a Friend and Demo - we really should have more buddy keys to give away, not just one.
Can't say I'm too pleased it took til now to get a 'Refer a friend' program out... I've already referred the friends that play online games and I doubt I'll be referring anymore in the future.
Apart from that, the rest is great... I hope it satifies all those that were crying for Vet rewards.
Considering this will gradually open the table to more and more people, maybe they'll think of some cool ideas to draw more people in. It's a cool place but empty and nothing to do that can't be done in a more convenient location.
It needs something that will hold peoples attention while off duty and a keep them entertained so they have a reason to stay. Maybe some of the mini games would be cool.
Maybe a fleet action where the table is being invaded by Borg Tribble and we have to clear it out. J/K

i guess they couldnt handle the constant whine...
But really, i wish -i- was a subscriber now. Why? because i want the damned captains yocht !!!
why a subscriber, when your a lifer?...
we will get it too
not at all
Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, lifers will automatically get there rewards as they reach each new benchmark.
indeedy if not, there will be alot of angry lifers lol. and this "idea" would of come full circle
Nothing intestering.
It's a neat place to change ships at, and there may be a couple vendors, but they sell nothing extraordinary.
The environment does look kind of cool though.

They hint that there would be captains from past present and future there but i have yet to see any
probly never...
I would like to think that as well. But those spammers are a clever bunch.
maybe, but if they spend that much just to come and spam in a place i hardly visit. them let them lol
thats still $495...and the 400 days wait lol.
not following your math?
....my question would be is the headstart and Open & Closed Beta Time counted or ...not?
Yeah, put up a sign over the portal entrance of the Captain's Table that reads "gullible players inside". Then watch at the amazement of how many players are really there.:p
i dont follow math i do it... and your school boy sarcasm is pretty funny
you obviously "think" you know everyone is on a 1 year sub.
