My Disappointment is my own

I entered Closed Beta expecting something and was bitterly disappointed... but it was my own mistake, and I acknowledge it. I picked myself and got on with the testing, hoping.

I filled bug reports, still do, not that I think there is much point. I think the Devs know the bugs but there are just so many of them and so few Devs and so little time to test that fixing them is a long term thing.

After a week of playing after the game went live I just couldn't do it anymore. It is a mind-numbingly boring game. Maybe I was spoiled with LotRO but most of the quests are pretty similar. Go kill that many things, etc.

Maybe it has to do with managed expectations, maybe it has to do with the background of the setting. Buggered if I know, buggered if I care right now.

I just know that this game still disappoints me. But as a lifer I get to say, cya in 6 months.

Enjoy (if you do)

    That's a drink for "I'm leaving!"

Even if you are not playing the game as a lifer, you are still "locked in" since Cryptic does not give refunds to dissatisfied customers.

In the mean time however, you can stick around the forums and give your feedback with what you hope this game to eventually become. I too am heart broken with what STO is, it is a travesty and disservice to a much beloved franchise, but I am sticking around heartily pointing out their mistakes, in hopes that they LEARN from them, and try my best to offer feedback in what I perceive as being potential improvements.

A lot of people have left already judging from the emptiness of many sectors/systems in the game. But monthly subbers have a right to take their money and go elsewhere. As for us lifers, we are unfortunately pinned down to a product even if we do not like it. So there is little sense in leaving entirely... give them your feedback and hopefully they will build something better.

    If not... blah.
