dissapointed

I tried the new difficulty slider and found that it is nearly impossible on the above average setting. am fully decked in purple as is my away team in as much is possible and blues otherwise.

The mobs hit very hard and can drop my shields in a split second....This is not intended for soloers with their BO's it would seem.

I am dissapointed but you guys did nothing wrong in terms of content....

I am not a fan of my BO's standing in the plasma or not moving at all and dying faster then I can jeep them healed.....I have never seen all 4 of my BO's loose their shields at the same time.

You need to work on their AI still.......

After 1 fight on a planet I wiped 6 times against a group of non boss mobs...

I am afraid to see it on the hardest setting...

Too bad this setting stuff cant compensate for soloing ..it goes from too easy to way overpowered...

And yes to a few comments i will prbably come across...they each have rare/unique tribbles and many healing/buff items

yes you are not good enough to move up a notch

keep practicing at the low level until you get better

    then raise it one level

Thanks for the pointer.......I have healed throughout Cure/infected/KA with minimal issues.

I think you are mistaken..I can solo the normal..I go one step up and it is too overpowering....

    Nonetheless thanks for the input.

Only problem i found with elite is the new repairs can get a bit expensive quick. I had no problems with my away teams in ground matches. The only major thing i noticed is now they seem to throw a hundred plasma grenades at you. On my ship I died a few times early then it hit me.. Now i actually have to think and use tactics...

We are used to just rushing in and rolling over pve ships on normal mode. Now on elite mode we are forced to actually think and not just rush right in. In space battles i simply started using asteroids as cover. When fighting more then one i'd hide behind an asteriod and lure them in one at a time while disallowing the others to target and shot me. In 1v1 i'd always make sure to stay behind the ship and use sound tactics.

On the ground I made sure not to rush in anymore. I found myself actually maneuvering into advantageous positions, fighting at max distance and making damn sure to have my entire away team all targeting the same npc. Also bringing along a good supply of hypo's helps.

In all honesty though besides the drops I found no real difference in deciding to do elite missions. Unless I am playing with another person. I usually team up with my brother when he's on. The only other reason would be it actually helps staying a bit sharper for pvp. The mission rewards are the same so I guess It just depends on my mood to play elite or not.

I only had one problem yesterday during elite. After doing my dailies I logged on my Lt. Sci officer. I came across an equal level tac ship in a mission and it kicked my tail over and over.. I couldn't beat this thing and the repair costs were crazy..

That would be my only complaint, the repair costs are a bit high... You can run through some mad credits quick. I thought there was no money in the future... = ).

Elite is nothing special. Just need to have a tight build and be very good at STO.

Don't make it easier! Fine as is!

Space on Advanced is not a problem

Ground is the problem. I can easily run higher difficulties my Engineer with loads of shields and fabricated turrets etc.

But my science RA is a different story. I respecced in order to get points into ground based skills and still some of ground encounters are a problem - even if I micro-manage my boffs skills and full time heal with a Medic kit its noticably more challenging. I came across a Romulan Captain yesterday that was able to wipe me and my boffs out in under 20 seconds and I could find no tactic that could contain or over power him.

I think the problem is the difficulty curve is much easier for some character classes to cope with than others.

Ground is very tough, and I suspect there are some bugs or unexpected things going on. That being said, it does force you to play better. I had to review all my BOs and equipment, and really think about what was wiping me out. So that is good.

Stuff like BOs standing in plasma - those are just bugs to report.

PS - Melee is more useful now in some cases...it bypasses the insane shields on certain enemies.

    This.

There is a large disparity between higher difficulty in space and higher difficulty on the ground. It's not all NPC factions either. Some are just way too OP on the ground on Elite difficulty. All the healing in the world isn't going to save you from being 1 shot.

I had some issues on Elite, but none on Advanced. I actually thought the fights were very refreshing on Advanced. I have a Tactical/Adanced Escort and a Science/DSSV, both RA5. The tactical had an easier time on ground missions and the science had an easier time on the space missions. (He is spec'd healing tho)
