    I hate it.
Besides the fact that my Sci Vessel's +10 Aux bonus does absolutely nothing for me now (none of my Sci BOFF abilities are affected by Aux) . . . this change takes control of my ship's performance out of my hands by reducing the number of factors in speed and maneuvering from 3 down to 2.

    Hate it.

So.......aux did nothing for you befor and now your turning rate is dependant on a system which grants you a defense bonus and helps you turn faster? I don't understand why you would be upset.

I agree, adding the turn rate to the Engine power was a bad idea, makes it basically pointless shure you turn faster with greater speed, but you are GOING faster so the turn ITSELF is wider makeing the entire idea redundant.

Not to mention most times when you want more turn rate you want LESS over all speed, i really dont see where thie idea came from, sure I can see adding in a Shield hardening factor to higher Shield Levels, that makes sense, but not this.

Put the Turning bonus back on the Aux or better yet have it so the LOWER the Engine Power setting the better turning bonus, might actually be useful then.

Dude, this has helped my game play a lot. I can see how may be an issue for some but no matter how I break it down.....this new system works better.

In all reality you gain better defense from speed. Being able to control you facings while keeping the speed bonus can only help your survivability while maintain damage on the enemy.

No, before, that +10 Aux bonus gave me a maneuvering bonus even though I had no Sci abilities that used it.

Now my ship's inherent bonus does nothing for me. It's like if Escort weapon power only boosted a handful of Tac boff abilities (that you chose not to use because you prefer one play style over another) or if cruiser shield bonus only worked with 1 type of shield.

Even forgoing that personal impact to me . . . we went from a system that incorporated 3 layers of control down to a 2 layer system. That loss of just 1 layer limits our control over our ship's performance exponentially.

Let's say, too simplify, each layer of control (throttle, ENG setting, AUX setting) can be basically set to HIGH, MED, or LOW.

    With 3 layers of control thats 3 x 3 x 3 = 27 distinct settings.

    With 2 layers that's only 3 x 3 = 9 settings.

Additionally, this just expands the impact of the imbalance between damage output and defensive ability that the change to SHIELD setting was put in to address. Now every player has even more reason to just condemn AUX as a dump stat and boost their WEAPON setting even more.

I personally think this change will give people more of a reason to reduce their weapon power to gain the bonuses of increased resistance and recharge from shields or the increased speed/dodge and maneuverability from engines.

You sci ship's bonus doing nothing for you is, IMO, your fault for not making use of any abilities that benefit from Aux power.

I have the +10 aux bonus. I think it's unfair to make the turn rate based on engines, but maybe an eng/aux combo.

After all, those of up with +10 starship operations want the ability to be useful. Yes, it'll help everything else, but not by much.

So what does Aux do now? Just science abilities?
