I'm playing on advanced now, going really well now I actually have to think. But here's the problem, on two ground maps I"ve been on the enemies has destroyed me. I'm not terrible at the game, me and my entire crew are kitted out with Mk8 greens(Klingon is only a captain), three exposes two exploits. All given large hypos, shield charges and power cells.
Am I just way worse at the game than I think I am? It doens't happen on every ground map, just a lot of them.
We might have to make more use of the pause feature so we can begin using advanced BO controls during the fight.
I've tried but I found that the tactic that made me live the longest, perhaps not the most effective I don't know I"ve never won when I come accross some really hard guys. And yes I also have a shield and hp healer.
Plop down two or three generators, protect them with a cover shield so the enemies can't kill them right away, and get my group to stand tightly around them while I lay down a force field to stop enemies getting too close. but one step out of the area of stacked shield and medical generators gets you dead.
No, you're fine... ground combat at anything other than normal is just ridiculous. I got pwnt hard on elite in less than 15s by Strekellians! Strekellians for crying out loud! Those dual blaster pistols have insane AOE damage even on advance; enough to drop shields and take you to less than 50% health on the first barrage and to kill your entire away party on the second one. Not even going to get into the one-hit kills you get from enemies that melee... Swordmasters, Dahar Masters, Jem'Hadar... I haven't met the Remans yet since 1.1; but just imagine how ridiculous they must be now.
On the flip side, space combat on elite is a hoot. Fun as hell and keeps you on your toes; even though the rewards still don't justify the time and resources spent. If they could only balance the ground combat difficulty to be more like that of space; hard as hell but you at least have a chance. My advice, if you're gonna do elite on the ground; do it with a 5-man team, it was fun on Tribble and should hold the same now that it's live on Holodeck.
yikes! so I guess they hit way harder than we do...and I bet they still like to concentrate fire on the player.
Oh yes, if I use any AoE attack I have to have already hit my engineering shield buff ability and then quickly run behind the cover shield if it's still alive...and if it's not well than I'm not. But I think it's a bug because it's not on every map and jesus it's only on advanced.

we ran into this in B-tran today. on elite mode, we found groups -44 to us and we found a group that one shotted all of us. literally insta death. gotta be a bug when you are finding -44 groups and then other mobs on 'god mode'
I noticed this in some maps too. I encountered some Borg drones in a ground mission and found that if I run in circles(I do this so they cannot reach me since elite hand to hand hits are super deadly since they ignore your shields.) So I just run in circles and fire fire fire spamming my hot key to target any mob who is exposed then I vaporize them.
Also buy a ton of large shield shield charges and large hypos. I also have been using a program called voice attack which allows you to use voice commands to activate abilities. So I just say "SHIELDS" or "HYPO" to apply these. Helps a ton.
I still was pwn'd a lot using all these techniques haha but eventually was able to get a few good exploit hits and that evens the odds. Elite mode is defiantly hard. I also got a ton of green drops doing on in this mode.
Overall I love this new slider so far. It is not easy that is for sure. But no real complaints yet.
