Extended Assignment Mission Hubs

I've been clamoring for some time to have some game play hubs in the game with a large player cap per shard, competition for PvE kills and more persistence overall.

Somewhere along the way, I realized that this kind of persistence basically follows the template of the films and multi-part episodes more than it follows the exploration motif of the series. The series tend to focus on a set of encounters which tend to be one time only glimpses into a strange new world with DS9 being the exception whereas multi-part episodes and films tend to take a locale and realize it more.

The core idea here is a large shard cap, roaming mobs, repeatable objectives... Basically intensive use of a single, large and well designed asset closer to how DS9 is used in the Captain rank missions but attempting to push that envelope further.

My core idea is to identify probably locations in the game's map and context with a wealth of IP to support them. Going with the "Assignment" idea, my notion is that these are cross faction questing hubs where you are acting on behalf of Gary Seven's agency, known as AEGIS in the novels. In keeping with Gary Seven's proposed series "Assignment: Earth" and the novel "Assignment: Eternity", these are all named "Assignment: <Planet>".

Lt. Cmdr -

Cmdr:
Assignment: Veridian IV
Concept: Visit the planet James T. Kirk died protecting and help them combat a Borg infiltration even as their rapidly advancing society, infused by Borg discoveries, teeters on the edge of discovering warp drive in a First Contact style scenario as you assist the man who is the Veridian's answer to Zephram Cochrane. Envisioned as a kind of steampunk world which went from early industrialization to something much more advanced due to cultural contamination. Visually inspired by Star Trek: First Contact but more stabile and structured.

Captain:
Assignment: Tilonus IV
(Note: The planet from Frame of Mind. Seems a logical inclusion near Cardassian space as the Enterprise was running more and more into Cardassians and Bajorans when they went here.)
Concept: After decades of internal strife, order seems to have reasserted itself on Tilonus IV. But nothing is as it seems as you trace a leader who may be a plant by the Obsidian Order, the Tal Shiar or Section 31 and as the clues around you seem to be driving you mad as your parse the possible conspiracy theories which lead to the Undine, you'll find yourself questioning reality, altering your frame of mind and asking the hard question whether you are who you believe you are or whether you are, yourself, an Undine spy whose entire life thus far has been a lie.

Rear Admiral:
Assignment: Earth
Venture back to the late 1960s and team with ace Aegis spy extraordinaire Gary Seven and his shapeshifting cat Isis. Together you track the theft of a weapons created by the fledgling Chronowerx Industries, infiltrate a desert military installation that's seen a glimpse of the final frontier and try your luck at the original Casino Royale in all the stunning glamour of 1960s Los Vegas in a time and place that features ties to all 5 Star Trek series as you track the ever elusive killed Redjac, who has made some very powerful allies from the future intent on using this murderous entity in a game of genocide designed to wipe out the Alpha Quadrant as we know it.
