Hi,
Doug Drexler just posted an awesome design for a
Romulan Super Cruiser from Andrew Probert (the guy who designed the TNG Warbird as well). Any chance this beauty might make it into the game?
Also check out the
Season 4 Enterprise Refit Doug is doing with some other pals from the "Star Trek: Enterprise" production team. I say: "Guardian of Forever, baby!"
Regards,
Rachel

Personally, I'd rather see the Reman Warbird be the carrier for the Romulan faction. The new design for the Romulan Warbird is pretty cool though.
Agreed, the NX-01 refit does look pretty good and gives a nice hint at how vessels switched over to the TOS look. If I could change one thing it would be to make the curve where the back of the engineering section is not go up so much. Then it would be perfect.
does cryptic have the rights to these designs from other games. id love to see that one come in
that new warbird looks a little odd, maybe it would look better if it had the four wings both horizontal and vertical like the centauri cruisers from Babylon 5
Sorry. You'll find Andrew Probert's Warbird design near the bottom of this page. It's not new, it's from the 80s.
I am curious as to how the NX-01 refit would look like, off the blueprints and in three dimensions.
not really into the new Romulan ship it is ok
The NX refit is a home run for me!
Romulan ships were meant to look like *gasp* birds, and no bird I have ever seen flies sideways with its head upright. It wouldn't have been as bad if the hadn't made the "wings" asymmetric, made it look more uniform in back because as is it looks like a goose that brained itself yet maintained the ability to fly.
The Enterprise refit looks good. The Super Cruiser might work with some alternations, but probably never as a Romulan Vessel. It lacks the "bird" quality, as others have noticed.
Though maybe it could still be used as a Reman ship? I mean, they are not Romulans, and it would be nice to have an actual difference between Romulan and Reman ships, now that they apparantly don't really work together anymore. (At least I gather that from the fact that there seem to be no missions where you fight "mixed" groups and even missions where the Reman act against Romulans.) Spoiler: (Plus the whole Hobus thingy.)
It's not new. It's an abandoned design from the 80s. Check near the bottom of this page.
The Romulan ship - bleh, I don't like it in it's current configuration let alone turned sideways heheh.
yup =( would have been awesome, but they cancelled the series =(
actually that Artwork looks better then the thing that is in the 2011 Calendar
also i found this:

the Shipyards look salvagable for STO i'd think.
But, IMO, it already looks beyond the Constitution Class, like the Connie would be a step backwards from the NX-01 refit. I'm just sayin...
On the other hand, the Enterprise refit looks awesome. It makes me wish that B&B hadn't spent so much time dicking around with the stupid Temporal Cold War plot and actually started progressing toward the known Romulan War and founding of the Federation plots sooner. Or that Paramount had brought in whoever it was who made Season 4 not suck (I forget who it was exactly) from the very beginning.
Of course it would be. It was designed in the 60s.
I'm very glad that JJ-Trek didn't keep that era of the franchise mired in the limited imagination and FX tech of its founding.
Of course, the next defibrillator jolt to the franchise in a few decades will probably look nothing like JJ-Trek either, because we'll be well past the limited vision and ideas of now.
Based on that thinking, the update that was done to Battlestar Galactica and "V", bringing them up to date from the Campy 70's to more updated and much darker, should be done to Star Trek. Bring the Campy up to date, which could actually be kind of cool!!
Oh please do not "drama queen" Star Trek as was done to both V and BSG, especially that abomination that was BSG.....
