I have recently come to understand that the Mirror-TOS uniforms will not be available to the general assembly of players; only to those who have lifetime subs to Champions online
WTF
The Terran Empire (Mirror-TOS) is a MAJOR part of Star Trek; heck, they are the half the enemy signal contacts in a huge area of the STO galaxy. .... and we don't get any of the uniforms?
To make this a perk that only comes with subscriptions to OTHER games is beyond rediculous. Cryptic - did it ever cross your minds that there would be fans of the Mirror that DONT play champions online?

Seriously..... WTF, Cryptic?
Comments
Did it cross your mind that Cryptic is a business?
(this would be directed at the OP)
Seriously - I'm so angry, I'm ready to walk away from STO
Looking forward to the female version.
YAY
that said couldnt extras like this also have a c store price . just for those of us who have absolutly no interest in champions online ?
like i said i understand that cryptic is abusiness. but id hate to think they focus so much on their bottom line they would forget that their players are maybe yanno living in a rescession and cant afford two subscriptions especially when one of them isnt a game they want to play
just saying
Relax, take a deep breath, green tea, some cake, soak in a bubble bath... Just in general like that.
Not everything has to happen right now. So who knows(other than the devs and current plans do change)... Maybe they will add to the c-store.
star trek stuff sells without the game
people make a living on selling and buying star trek stuff
the rights to star trek stuff is owned by whomever owns star trek
a percentage has to go to them. by attaching it to their own game- a different one- they can gain back profit
Personally, I would not mind at all if any of the "exclusives" and perks I received as part of my LTS and Deluxe Editions were made available free for everyone in the C-Store.
That said, I totally understand why these kinds of things are used in marketing strategies.
If they tossed the Mirror Universe Uniforms in there for 50 bucks worth of credit I wouldn't object at all.
Same goes for Liberated Borg if you want them and you didn't get a lifetime you should pay a premium for them....
Sure, so long as they balance this with any future type of rewards/perks by charging LTS customers a premium for it after a year and half.
But you're telling me that to get the female mirror costume pieces, I have to plop down another couple hundred dollars for a game I don't plan on ever playing?
NOT a great marketing idea. Here let me 'help' you out here, until the mirror universe stuff is available to anyone with a TOS 'plus' to their accounts, I will no longer buy ANYTHING for 'cost' in your c-store. So you've managed to actually reduce income from me. Congratulations.... this is a great idea. Also I have a thousand plus c-store pts how do I get that money refunded? OH and on top of that, I won't be buying any 'for sale' expansions, or any other cryptic games. I'm thinking about complaining to Atari as well.
Thanks.
This is a VERY poor marketing decision trying to 'induce' people to play another game that you have out. GREAT GREAT idea....
I also just LOVE your previous communications on this, Female MU uniforms coming in a future patch with ZERO mention that to get them you have to be a CO lifetime member as well as a STO lifetime member.
I've plunked around 350 on this game already..... now you want another couple hundred so I can have the MU female uniform? EVEN if I did that I'd never be playing CO anyway, I'm not interested in it, and I've got a TON of games in my 'queue'.
If you didn't get the sarcasm scattered above, this is (at least in regards to ME as a customer) a REALLY REALLY REALLY ... REALLY bad idea.
Not to mention the other issue that has ****ed me off (multiple beam/torp weapons using BO powers causing the weapons to go offline for the whole fight).
Prior to the beam issue, I was always recommending this game and defending your developers and company. Once the beam issue popped, I have scaled that back to about 50%. Add this issue, and NOW I'm ****ed I will not be recommending or defending your company until these issues are rectified.
BTW: GREAT going on the bug fix for the beam/torp issue, that issue was first reported 2 months ago, and your dev/qa teams have been able to consistently reproduce it for a month now.... but I'm REALLY glad you got those CO & STO lifetime MU costumes in there ahead of this fix. After all, what's the big deal about 50% of the weapons for space battles having a major bug, much better to push people to become lifetime subscribers to CO for the female MU uniform, you'll probably get 10 or so people.
If you cannot tell, I'm getting pretty miffed at cryptic..... and just FYI I've recruited about 15 people to this game, your income from my recruits is likely higher than you will get with this female MU costume thing.
Someone show this post to the VP of marketing please..... because the marketing team (and other BU's) need to see it.
:mad::mad::mad::mad:
I agree completely and have been a started and been a part of many threads making this same point!
I agree completely Why give a perk that the STO PRELAUNCH LIFERS DIDN"T EVEN GET!!! I play Star Trek not Champions
We got the Liberated Borg race, which they don't get. To use the Mirror Universe uniform they need a lifetime subscription to CO and a subscription (lifetime or not) to STO. So they have invested a more upfront and demonstrating a loyalty to Cryptic products, so deserve an extra perk.
Wouldn't it be more beneficial to recieve an item or outfit that would take advantage of the game they already play?
They do, STO.
It was also tied into STO beta access, as one of the perks was an invite. So a lot of CO lifetimers actually invested a lot of time beta testing this game.
You'll also probably find a high number of STO lifetimers also have a CO one.
An extra 'perk' is one thing, give them 1000 cryptic store points or something, however having ONE game (subscription or whatever) impact a completely different game is STUPID.
I've been playing video games since the very first one (no not pong it was 'space war' on mainframes). I've worked for gaming companies. I've had numerous 'pcs', consoles, etc.. This is the FIRST time I've ever seen this happen. I see 'codes' bundled in with games like dragon age origins for 'mass effect armor', however that armor is always available in other ways. I've seen 'beta' access for games (Halo for instance) bundled. But never in a live game.
I believe this is a first in the gaming industry (at least that I can think of). And (at least in regards to myself), this is going to COST them money not make them money.
As for 'loyalty': a) companies don't care about that really, what they see as 'loyalty' is actually 'revenue' b) this actually makes me (personally) MUCH less 'loyal' to cryptic (in financial and 'mindset' terms) c) I've recruited a bunch of users, I will NOT be doing this anymore, who knows what's next maybe you need to be a city of heroes lifetime to get the next class of ship or promoted beyond RA5 (thats a 'perk' too).
This is an unacceptable behavior... its TOTALLY fine if its 'within' the game, like buying the collectors edition of star trek online gets you 'star trek online' perks. I've actually bought 2 'CE/DDE fulls' for specifically this reason. However, getting perks in STO because you bought and went lifetime on CO is rediculious.
So for those 'loyal' people out there, how many 'perks' in CO and other cryptic games REQUIRE you to be a STO lifetime member....... I'm guessing .... give me a minute.... oh yeah its none.
Speaking for myself, this WILL cost cryptic/atari revenue from me and cost them 'new people' I get to play the game as well.
If you want to reward 'loyality' do it in a way that does NOT exclude people already loyal to the game, give them c-store points, let them start at lt5 or something, all stuff that is available to anyone 'buying and playing STO' without requiring 'other games'.
How would you feel if XBL pushed a code patch that 'required' you to be a loyal microsoft customer and your xbox was missing a feature if you didn't buy MicroSoft Project Professional?
RE: 'lots of CO lifetime people beta tested', perhaps but lots of OTHER people who are not CO lifetime members beta tested, prebought, bought lifetime BEFORE the game was live, as well.... so I guess to 'heck' with them? I happen to be one of those people.
You (we) got a liberated borg (for the lifetime sub) and a title (for being in beta). They are paying subs for two games (by whatever method), and were also in closed and open beta. No matter how you look at it, they have a higher loyalty investment, to Cryptic.
I do agree however, if a STO lifetimer was to sub to CO then it should become available to them until that subscription ends.
Also, I'm hoping they don't tell us until it's 'live' so they can extract the MAX amount of time and cstore 'money' (which is real money) until it hapens.
It's ONE thing to reward loyality in a GAME, it's a whole different thing to 'cross games'.
Its like saying if you go buy a new toyota you can't get a gps with it unless you already own another toyota and have been driving it.
Its BAD marketing. YOU are the only person in this thread defending this..
Something you should know from basic marketing classes/skills is that for every complaint you see 10x that number are mad. And in things like forums where you have to SEARCH for this specific 'issue' it's more like 2-4 orders of magnitude.
ALL your 'other perk' examples you mention are STO related specifically, I played the STO beta, I bought the STO collectors edition, I played STO on tribble to test. Do you see a theme here?
It not even like the Mirror Universe uniform perk is anything new. The male versions been around since shortly after launch.
Unlike STO you can't buy a lifetime subscription for CO anymore. They only offered it during its beta.
No SOE doesn't do it... they offer a discounted 'subscription' to play ANY of their games, however there are no specific items in (for instance) EverQuest 2, that REQUIRE you to be a lifetime member of SWG.
BILLING and gameplay/items are two different things.
As for 'mirror universe uniforms not being anything new', I'm kind of suprised I think the developers would be too. They have been announcing upcoming MU uniforms (mainly female but also male 'fixes') for about a month now and it's in last nights patch notes as 'new'.
Reduced subscription rates for buying access to multple games is also a perk. Not only that but you get additional character slots, etc, for some of the games in the pack one may not play.
The developers wouldn't be suprised, as anyone with a CO lifetime sub can tell you. They've been able to use the male uniform for quite some time. There's even threads on the forum complaining about the lack of the female variant.
BILLING is not an 'IN GAME' perk it's a how much do I spend IRL
Those EQ2 perks, which SPECIFIC untradable, unobtainable, unbuyable IN GAME items, chars, etc were inserted into EQ2 for SWG subscribers?
RE: developers being suprised, you are either intentionally misreading what I am referring to (the fact that MU uniforms are new) or misunderstanding it. The patch notes SPECIFICALLY call out MU uniforms as new in last nights patch set... the requirements for 'new' things doesn't equate to them not being 'new'.
The female version is new, as it wasn't in the game. Which people have been complaing about, as only male characters got the perk. The male version is not new, its updated. Both are and always were going to be CO lifetime subscription perks.
As for the EQ2 thing. Yes, they sent SWG vets a key to unlock an item in EQ2, as an incentive to also buy it. Only they got it. Also the Station Pass, is also not just access to the games. It gives other perks.

AND I'm done with you.... you've been wrong repeatedly here... justify it however you want. I and many others are STILL mad about this, it's STILL the first time I've ever seen this type of IN GAME behavior for things in both my personal gaming and professional gaming company life.....
But go ahead and think what you want, just know that it doesn't seem that many (if any) here agree with you, I know 100 or so fleet members disagree wih you, > 90% of the unique users on this (and another) thread disagree with you.... etc.
I'm not wrong, you just aren't taking it in. No offence (and I really do mean that).
