Well I see that STO is now being offered for $30 on Steam. Does this mean that all of us, that have been here from Beta and paid $79.99 for our CE will be getting a refund from Cryptic? How about a free month, or two? It really seems to be a burn to those of us that worked with Cryptic on the Beta and were here for Per-Launch and paid full price for the game to keep coming down in price, and nothing be offered to us.

The beta access via pre-order was a privilege not a right.
Also, the digital deluxe edition is $39.99 - and it totally different from that $79.99 CE you purchased.
That collector's edition featured:
A beautiful, delux case
Hardbound manual
Communicator Badge
In-game Uniforms
Buddy Pass Cards
You made the decision that this was worth $40 more at launch.

I know you are winking but still I can't help but bite
I never used my pre-order beta key. I was already in beta having used one of the two beta keys I already had before I purchased the game ( from website subscriptions ). I would never pay for a beta. Time was that you were doing the company a favour by giving them your time. Now it seems companies are using beta as a sales pitch and customers are lapping it up.
Beta access used to be a responsible position for a select few who helped shape the future of games. Now it's just early start play time for people willing to pay for it.

In MMO, closed beta used to be bug-fixing. Open does this too but leans heavily toward stress-testing.
Regardless, I expanded my post to list the features in the $79.99 version the OP bought - not even close to the same thing you'd be geting for the $30 or $40 on Steam. For example the $79.99 game DID come with extra playtime (for your friends) as well as physical goods.
If the OP, as a consumer, can't be trusted to feel confident in his purchases, why should the business obliged give more? They weren't the ones that compared costs between regular, delux, and collector's editions - that's the consumers job. You determine what you're willing to pay for.
I was more understanding when the prices fell rather quickly, but at this point months down the road? No way, those of us who bought early paid what we did knowing the prices would eventually fall.
In the end you've missed the boat by a mile, these complaints about price drops happened a long time ago.

That and lumping an $80 collector's edition (with physical goods) in with the $30-40 versions on Steam is a little beyond comparison.
Videocards and CPU's get lowered in price all the time, well bassicaly verything does when you think of it.., you dont see many people going back to the store to ask for a refund on all their bought stuff:D
How many times do we have to see communism fail before we all admit it doesn't work . And always remember Caveat Emptor .
Two Words:
Objectivist Dystopia
We all know that it was communism that caused the Global Depression during the 1900s and the Global Recession during 2008... or greedy people who ruin any system by exploiting areas that previously protected.
Does your reply mean its ok to discuss this topic now? Other threads discussing STO's price on various retailers have been locked.
I think direct links to third party vendors were the problem. If a little over-zealously dealt with (look at my points total before you hit me for that, I can't afford any more frivolous infraction points )
Are we all so ignorant that something we bought should appear at a "sale " price and we should be so shocked by it ? Happens all the time , Ive bought more things on sale then I ever missed , happens occasionally . As for the argument that it happened to soon after launch , -throws hands in air - oh well , sales happen .
I don't want a refund I just want more content . Hurry Hurry Hurry !

I don't think anyone other than the OP is taking it too seriously. Put those hands down soldier.
By that logic I should get a refund on [everything] I ever bought, as their prices eventually dropped too. Too bad this is the real world though.
This.
In fact, I don't think I should ever have to pay more than 15 cents for a 16oz of Coke (or anything else for that matter), as my grandparents are always telling me about how cheap everything was back then.
It's pretty standard for prices on things to drop after they've been available for a while.
That said, we're putting together some veteran rewards as a thank-you to the players who've continued spending their time with us.
hmmm.. with all due respect, there are some of us who do understand, marketing and financial and what you said is not really accurate and only half-true , especially with a product that just been release about 3 or 4 months ago..
When a company drop its price, especially on a new product before a year had past, or the price has drop significantly from their standard price and offerings, excluding any special promotion or sales programs to launch the products, its means there are some issues developing.
1. They have a customer retention issues and it raising
2. the demand or consumption for it products is slow or not happening and they are trying to spur sales,
3. Their cash flow is not on par with the model to get the return on investment they are looking for
4. The product may not be producing enough cash-flow to cover the expenditures , meeting gross or profit margin and causing a cash shortage and their economic model was way off base
5. the product is not meeting the needs of the market and customers are not buying.
6. Buyers /retailers are not placing large orders
I can go on and on... but I will give you credit that you are correct when you said

." "a while" - key word, I agrees, prices do drop significantly, usually at the tail end of the product life cycle and after a couple of years..

Cryptic/Atari CAN control the price on Steam. They can't in the normal Retail channels.
The only thing that Cryptic/Atari can't control are the limited sales.

Product Markups exist inthe digital realm just like they do in the brick and mortar one.

I can't link it due to the banhammer for advertising but it's D2D
Good advice .
