Were playing the bad guys would nice. STO need to finish the there main faction first. Klingons then Romulans. They have been the back bone if Star Trek fro many years.
Doesn't make sense in how you could play as one. A liberated one sure but one still attached to the collective? Nah.
And wont even get started on the whole "think as one" if you are lucky you might get a single person in the same team to fire on the same ship as you.
You get a mission to assimilate a colony. Whoops another Borg ship was closer to it and the task was handed to them instead.
(not sure if this part was in jest or actual reality... *shudder* You will never leave the spot where you were assimilated!)
I think the Borg are just getting griefer votes because the Romulans are so far ahead. The next time they have a faction vote. The Dominion would probably win. They would bring the Founders, Jem'hadar and the Breen. I think a lot of votes were just because it didn't matter Romulans are in.
Voted for the Borg, I see a lot of interesting and uncharted territory they could go with on a borg faction and would really like to see where a borg faction could take this game.
The borg was my favorite faction to play in Armada II, so that kind of swayed my vote as well.
Too bad the Undine were not on the list to.
In all honesty though, pretty much every one of those factions on the list should be in this game at some point.
I would like to see everyone get a shot at playing their favorite faction at some point.
That is why I got into this game so early and stuck with it, the endless possibilites and forms this game could take on.
I put my vote to Romulan's but only because I like the idea of playing them slightly more than the Borg. I do want to play as a Borg character but I really think that it should be a bit later on in the game's life. I have no interest in the Klingon race, Romulan's are more scheming and that appeals to me. It's unfortunate you can't pick more than one or I would have gone with Romulan and Borg.
Without trying to derail your thread, if you got to play as a Borg what sort of missions would there be? Assimilate or.... assimilate? :P
I don't care much for Romulans myself, but they are the logical next faction. They have the popularity both as long time enemies and being in "the new movie". They are also the second faction you face when playing through the story missions. It goes Klingons (faction is already there, kind of), Romulans, Cardassians/Dominion, Borg. And I assume that will also be the order the factions will be introduced.

While I support the idea of another faction being added much later on, priority-wise I would vote NO in order to have Cryptic get the Klingons on par with where the Fed faction is currently. [ Meaning...more ships, more missions, more space, more clothing, etc, etc]
I would really rather not have Cryptic divert limited man power to another faction for now. When Cryptic gets the Klingons squared away I'd be happy to support getting another faction introduced.

IIRC Klingons are being wrapped up in terms of PvE content and such in Season 2.
Why not just make borg a playable character? as in your the capt of yer cruiser and you happen to be disconnected from the hive?
The Liberated Borg was an exclusive they gave too. Lifetime subscribers who took a big chance by buying their accounts. Ahead of launch. Lifetime subscribers were helping cryptic out with a large amount of money up front. To help recover development cost. Taking a big chance that they might lose their money. .
It was a reward plus incentive to get people to buy lifetime accounts. Before the game went live. Them giving them to everyone. Would really enrage most of the ones who believed in the game and bought lifetime accounts. Before launch.
Their were never meant to be as many Humans or Klingons. They were meant to be a small number. Only a handful to represent Jon Luc Picard and Seven of Nine.
Giving them out to everyone for something they didn't do. Is like them giving out raid loot to people who don't raid. Or giving out collectors edition rewards to people who bought standard edition games.
You all DO realize that the borg are a COLLECTIVE right? That means that in order to stay true to canon, there would be NO fleets that could be made. (There's no indivisuality in the collective)
To make borg playable, they'd have to break canon - and I doubt CBS will allow that.
Agreed. Adding them as playable would destroy this game and also I am sure would upset lots of people who pre-ordered to get the liberated borg since making the borg playable would eliminate the entire reason for the pre-order since I know I'd much rather have played them then got to play as a liberated one.
Just a big no-no. Borg should remain as a non-playable faction.
Speaking as someone who is a lifetime subscriber and who did get the liberated borg playable unlocked, I personally wouldn't have any major issue with them opening up the liberated borg as a C-store item. Others may have more vocal opinions...
That said, Borg faction is, for me, just a big no. A core part of them is just how alien they are. Making them playable would take away from that, and require them to be more like us. More like us means less scary, which kind-of destroys their reason for existing. We need things that go bump in the night, and if we play as the things that go bump in the night we'll next be standing around near gothic architecture bemoaning how cruel the universe is. Star Trek that ain't.
What would be neat is a short 'I have been assimilated' quest line where, for a short time, you get to play a mission from the perspective of a borg drone. It'd be a neat diversion, but not enough to build a faction out of.

I agree, just like in Voyager where Janeway injected herself with those nanites then got assimilated. Although she was borg she retained her independent thoughts with lasted a short while so she could complete her mission. Something like that would be fun as as you said as a life time subscriber myself I wouldn't mind if they opened up the liberated borg in the C-Store but doing so would probably mean they would have to open other pre-order items as well which somewhere I read they claimed later on down the road they make open up specific pre-order items. Either way its good to make a mission or to but as a faction it would ruin the game

Once Romulan is implemented, all the people voting for Romulan are going to vote for Cardassian/Dominion.

they have played for awhile so they know cooperative tactics
if you die to a borg you get assimilated
you can only get unassimilated if a science ship ship shoots a special ray or something
it would give the bored rear admirals somethng to do
and they are probably a homogenous group of like minded
