Starfleet/KDF would bust me back to Ensign..........
The amount of Crew that Die in a battle is ridiculous. Like a Fleetmate of mine says. "1/2 my crew die if a Fed flies by and sneezes"
You may not notice it in an Escort or Science Ship, or even a Federation Cruiser. But in a Klingon Cruiser or God forbid a Carrier, it is insane.
By the time you finish every battle your entire crew is DEAD. You are the lone man left standing on the entire ship, and the regeneration is so slow you will never even be close to a full crew without multiple Tactical teams before the next engagement.
Seriously, can this be looked into? I mean really........ if a Captain of a Ship killed this many of his crew, he would either be Court marshalled or there would be a mutiny and he would be strung up by his crew!
Your bridge crew does not include your bridge officers. Still, I find it a bit hard to swallow that, in any vessel, "dead crew" suddenly come back to life--is the crew photonic? Necromancer onboard? A level 20 cleric spamming mass Raise Dead spells? I would prefer "incapacitated" as the next step to injured, and make crew death part of the (optional, difficulty-dependent) Death Penalty.
But not even on your own ship is a problem--in a single mission, I can face up to 3 separate K'Tinga battle cruisers--a population of 800 each. That's 2400 that die. If you're facing Terran/Federation, let's be conservative here, and face off against 3 frigates (200 crew a piece, 200 x 3 x 3 = 1 800), a single assault cruiser (800), and two mid-range science vessels (350 crew, 350 x 2 = 700). So what is that? 3 300 people dead?
Not only do you butcher your own people, but you have a similar regard to others!
The other day I was playing a fed Escort LC and during a mission I took a bit of a pounding and then I noticed my hull was not repairing itself thats when I noticed my entire crew was dead. Apparently with an 80% hull my crew all got sucked out into space
They're not dying. They're being temporarily incapacitated.
Some of them are injured and awaiting treatment, some of them are being taken off duty status and being replaced by reassigned personnel, and some of them are just waiting for their duty stations to become functional again. (One or two are probably mashing the reset button, using language unfit for an officer. )
(I don't care if the game says "kill". Even tribbles don't reproduce THAT fast.)
They weren't yellow or orange or what ever the color indicating injured/incapacitated they were completely grayed out. My poor ship had no more living crew not that it has much crew to begin with. Damn those hidden explosives in bridge consoles...
My ships are manned by zombies, so as long as they don't get there heads choped off, they always return to their stations. Every now and then I will beam them over to a agressive ship before I blow it up so they can get a snack, it sure makes for great morale.
They love it when Klingons beam over a bording party, They find them tasty, though a bit gamey

Either that, or they discovered Voyager's solution to the dying crew problem. I mean, in that show, they lost their whole crew twice over, 20 shuttles. In reality, the ship made it back to the Alpha quadrant by the Doctor hopping out and pushing it with Paris steering.

Dark Grey = Dead
In the shows, when so much as a feather lightly brushes the shields, something explodes on board, throwing a crew member several feet.
All ship components come with some form of explosive built in.

My answer is fireworks. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
When a console explodes, I take a shot. Alcohol poisoning is no stranger to me.
