Not a complaint but I have been playing since open Beta and I have noticed a dramatic increase in crew (deaths) especially in my engineering ship, even with my shields in full operation. Also noticed that hull damage has been changed to large chunks (on both my ships and NPC ships). I like the Engineering role and tanking although I can't get and hold aggro from more than one ship but that seems now like a good thing because I cannot hold up as long as before. I would still like the ability to lead my two friends, who love Escorts, into a battle and let them swoop in for their attacks. Also tie their attacks to mine for single target fire concentration (that lone battleship perhaps among all its escorts), some sort of group battlenet. Free for all is fun but on things like Fleet actions it would be nice to be able to co-ordinate our actions with other than - "I am going after that one on the left and up there" - (we use ventrillo or phones as we are in the same city).
When I created my first Klingon I had a battle that cost my entire crew - even at low level, LT 7 - although I completed the combat without dying. This happened even tho I still had almost complete shields and nearly maximum hull. I am thinking this is the implementation of the much discussed 'death penalty' as a base beginning for the full thing.
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this and if so, could this simply be a factor of leveling? I play slow and casual so my max is a fed captain 3 with the other chars lower ranked. Would appreciate any input from other players. Thanks.:)
Impacts from explosions, mines, or torpedoes, do a set % of crew damage. In ships with small crew, this is hardly noticed, but in ships with large crews it makes a HUGE difference.
All subsystems are impacted by crew conditions, and in a carrier, you can lose all your crew really faster and it takes about 10-15 minutes to get them all back. Of course in a 50 man bird of pray, your crew is back before you realize it is gone.
It is a problem in the system, as crew loss should have a bigger impact on smaller crews, and less on larger crews. As it stands now, large crews are more of a liability.

Not in my recent gameplay experience. My 100 member crew of my BoP is almost entirely wipedout during the first few moments of an encounter. But it doesn't seem to impact my performance (as near as I can tell), so I haven't really inquired.

At least I know its not just me.
It's okay, they are all extras in the film, only matters that my BOs and I am okay!! Hehe...
I am so glad you made a topic about this.Few things in this game ****es me of so much as the crew situation.
Dont know how many times i been fighting npc borgs etc pvp without any crew alive.I mean 0 crew. and all the while i'm having 0 crew green on my ship i have not died and my ship have never been under 50% hull.
The word PATHETIC comes to my mind here.Dont want to sound to hard but thats the only word that comes to my mind when i'm thinking about the crew recovery thing. So my sick bay has 1000 crew with no one te heal them ? photonic crew? that's even more stupid and has nothing with Star Trek in my mind. On my cruiser i'm investing points into hull repair to no use.
Can anybody just mention that 1 time in the series movies that everyone omboard was out of action because of a core blast etc, and the ship just kept on fighting?? Space combat can many times be real fun in this game, but this is one of those things that the devs just have to do somthing about and fast Btw way as i have been pointing out before on this forum, the science crew recovery consols do not work. Fact. 2 of those science consols will make crew recovery go from 50 % to 51.9 i belive it was. bravo bravo
