So, I was watching one of my favorite TOS Trek episodes "Whom Gods Destroy" the other day.
And I can't shake the feeling that
Garth of Izar and
Cryptic Honcho Jack Emmert share an uncanny resemblance at certain angles.
But now that I have your attention with that, we know Garth was a Starfleet Captain who Kirk studied at the academy. And he wears medals on his outfit.
So, minus the fur coat and the crown, is that outfit of his possibly an earlier Starfleet uniform?
I have to say, he's an interesting figure as a Starfleet Captain whose exploits prior to going insane were legendary and yet you never see him referenced in later series, aside from ships being named after him in some expanded universe content.
You wouldn't think it's so odd except that people reference Kirk regularly in the 24th century. And while I can understand his descent might be a cause of shame or anxiety, you'd think his history as the premiere Starfleet Officer of Pike's generation would mean that some of his missions would be worth bringing up from a tactical standpoint. (Ie. "Captain Garth of the USS Heisenberg encountered a scenario like this...")
Anyway, I'd love to see some references to him in game and maybe that swell uniform of his which, worn properly, would probably look similar to some of our off-duty uniforms.
(Though if Cryptic does make it an off duty uniform, I want the Fur Coat too since it was also Kodos' fashion accessory of choice.)
