Cryptic...you have Episode Replay slated for the May 20TH-28TH Season 1.2 Update. Is there any chance you can get this out sooner???
One of my biggest complaints with MMO developers is that they foolishly use up the games quests in just leveling a toon, without any thought to allowing players to replay them when they reach the top "rank".
I appreciate that you're adding it, but I'm very disappointed that it's not being released for another month...especially when players complained about "end game content" in BETA.
These can currently be shared too, so the effort to enable this really can't be THAT bad...seeing nothing but C-Store Updates between now and 1.2 (obviously after 1.1) worries me guys.
I would like to ask that you please re-evaluate moving this ahead of C-Store fluff - content keeps players.
C-Store fluffs is generally something which can be done by 1 or 2 people. Issue updates like 1.1, 1.2, 2.0, etc have entire teams on them: so many are working on 1.1, so many are working on 1.2, so many are working on 1.3 and so many are working on 2.0. It's not like if they take the 1 person off of making ship skins it will somehow mean that 1.2 can get done 1 month quicker. It just doesn't work that way.
I agree, episode replay is needed ASAP. And once we have the difficulty slider, it will be fun to go back and replay the old episodes on a higher difficulty.

Please read my request again...I'm ONLY looking for Episode Reply...not 1.2.
The Episodes are all already completed, we have a difficulty slider being added in 1.1, this should have been added at the same time IMO...if not before.

Episode Replay is the primary crux of 1.2. The only other major part of 1.2, IMO, is the Sidekicking system. Most of the rest is superficial.

Crux?? Explain that please. The Accolade system is another major part of 1.2. The lack of Accolades and Sidekicking isn't causing players to leave...the current lack of content is. Priorities at Cryptic are currently in question.

If you remember correctly the Accolade system was in place back in Beta. The current system is being fine-tuned not developed from zero like the Replay system is. I also think there are a lot of different things making some people leave and some people come.
People trapped at RA5 will do a few Replay missions but they'll find they're just as they remembered them being the first time, or 2nd, 3rd, and 4th time they did them and will be just as dissatisfied with the lack of new things to do a couple of weeks after it comes out as they are now. Replay is a temporary band-aid. Nothing more.
You dont seem to understand what the OP is saying. He isnt saying rush your work, he's asking that this be given a higher priority than C-store items.
And again, C-Store items don't require the manpower he seems to be assuming they are utilizing. Taking an artist off of ship or species design doesn't turn him into a system programmer.

Actually, thats incorrect. Perhaps you havent been testing the difficulty slider on Tribble, but doing an episode again on elite will be much different than they way they originally remembered it

Reply isn't being developed from "zero" lol. The quests are ALL THERE and they are all currently shareable as it is. It's a "tweak", nothing more.
With the addition of the difficulty slider, they will not be "just as they remember them" and it's certainly not the ONLY content needed, but it's a helluva lot more than a "band-aid" imo...it's desperately needed content NOW and it should be a priority to Cryptic.

I have tested it but it doesn't change the nature of the story. I have 2 RA5s and 2 Captains7/8s. I've done the Gateway mission at least 4 times with my characters and at least 3 other time with lower-level Fleetmates. I've done the mission 7 times already. Doing it again against tougher ships/Klingons doesn't change the story. It just turns it into an STF battle. There's nothing new or original being added to the game via Replay.

The tech to do it is being created from zero, whereas the Accolade tech is in the game. It just need fine tuning.

It's a band-aid, especially for RA5s. And let's keep in mind that half of the content in the game is Patrol missions, which are really just Exploration missions. No one's going to redo the Vulcan patrol missions.

You wouldn't be forced to replay them...I would simply like the option to...and sooner rather than later. It's already being planned, I would simply like to see it moved up in priority.

Fact is, they WILL be adding this, so please stop trying to argue against it in my thread. If you'd like to debate the timeline in which it's added, I'll welcome your comments. Anything other than that is just you trolling at this point.

The main point was that you want them to stop offering C-Store items and put more attention to this system. As I've said twice now, the people doing the C-Store work are not the people involved with programming. Graphic artists are designing ship and character skins not doing system programmer's work. If they took the few people making C-Store items off for Replay those people would be standing around with nothing to do because they don't program the base system. It's like asking a dentist to operate on your brain. Two different specialties that can't be interchanged.
Beyond that I have no problem with the Replay system. Just this notion that some have that it will be some type of savior to the game. A savior to the game will be actual new content and an actual end-game not replaying what you've already done.

I can see where you feel I said that, I phrased it poorly. When I suggest they move it ahead of c-store fluff, I really mean separate it from 1.2 and move it up in development, not "instead of" c-store stuff.
With nothing but c-store updates between now and 1.2, I'm worried that another full month with nothing more for RA5's will begin to really damage the games ability to bounce back. This won't "save it" from it's lack of end-game content, but it will buy valuable time I feel.

I think Cryptic will get it out as quickly as they feel they can with the resources they have available to them. Beyond that I don't think it behooves anyone to live in an abstract sense of fear/doom about this game. I enjoy STO. I play it several hours every day but I'm not going to constantly worry that every minor decision Cryptic makes somehow means survival or death for this MMO. That way of thinking just leads to madness.
I'd be happy just to run them again too, no modifications at all really. I'd see it as no different than watching reruns of Star Trek, which I do almost everyday.
I can't say how big of a job it would be to make it so I could enter the mission area, but I'd hope it would be an easy change. I'd rather play them now as is, than wait for them to be "tweaked" for my current level. I happen to enjoy the story of the mission as much as the "challenge" of defeating the opponents.
In fact, I think it'd be cool to be going along in Sector space, see a location and jump right in to it. Some missions have you jumping between planets, but if you've already completed that mission no reason you couldn't just jump into that "section" of the mission and continue from there.
There is a reason accolades, sidekicking, and episode replay are bundled together - they are all tied to the same system and need to be worked on in conjunction so that...
1. You can replay old episodes
2. You can level yourself appropriate to the content
3. You have cool accolades to find while redoing the missions
Episodes and missions are set at a specific level. So without sidekicking, you're going to be trouncing through missions without any challenge (even on Elite if you are +20 levels its a breeze).
However - if you can level yourself down to the right level - then you can replay the episode, the difficulty slider will mean something, and there will be achievement like tasks you can attempt to achieve.
So while it may seem arbitrary why we bundle features - there's a good reason for it and it's not a cake walk to get these features to work together.
We needed difficulty slider as the first step - once that ships - we are jumping on the features above.

I hardly feel giving RA5s something to do right now is "minor" and I hope they can juggle the necessary "resources" to act on my request.
My desire that this be moved up doesn't stem from fear or doom, it's based on my own boredom in-game...not some "abstract" feeling...just pure and simple boredom.
Again, I implore Cryptic to move this up in development.

I think your post comes one too late.
And I won't even go into the sidekicking down rather then replaying them at RA5 thing.

Thank you for the reply.
I really wish the lack of a challenge wouldn't keep you from adding this sooner - PvE has seldom been challenging in this game to begin with. Some of us would simply like something more to do other than one of 5 generic "explore" missions.

That sucks to hear. Is there no way to make the mission auto-scale to the level of the person playing it? Especially if you have teaming turned off and you are the only person?
*edit*
Actually, I just thought about something. We always have the option to go back and use our old ship and equiptment if we want a challenge

Just as an aside, you do know that you can go back and get in any tier ship you own and team-up with lower-level players and redo the missions with them? So you can go and jump into your T2 Connie with it's Mk IV weapons and limited BO slots and blast through all those Lt. Commander missions with people if you want to. There's always things to do if you want to go and do them.

Sort of - its called sidekicking. Seriously though - in order to preserve natural play through and prevent mission reward abuse, episodes are set at a specific mission level. This is pretty much true in most MMOs.
Sidekicking gets around that by allowing us to level "you" so that you can run the episode as if it was at your current level.
Keep in mind that some enemies only know how to fight at specific levels (each enemy group knows what powers and tactics they are supposed to use at each level).
So while I'm certain there are will be a lot of "well what about this"... you're just going to have to trust us in that we know our game and sidekicking is the way we "level' episodes.

That's interesting, I really didn't think about tactics changing as the enemies scaled. Once season 2 or maybe 3 comes out I'm buying a friend of mine another month so he can try STO again and letting me play with him would be awesome.

First let me say thanks for the reply. Just to be clear, though, are you saying that however you guys decide to do something is the best way to do it? Does that include Memory Alpha's original design, or no PvE content for Klingons?
