Hypothetical question

Mind you this is all hypothetical and in no way reflects real life;)

So Billy is on this sci-fi game forum site. He makes a post in response to someelse. He responds in kind to the person with basically the same thing the person said to him. Now Billy gets the hammer of punishment for his comment. It violates service term x. Thinking it unfair that he got hammered while his opponet got off scot free while making the same commnet he contacts the offending moderator. Verified by Billy by the fact that his opponets post was not edited like his was. The moderator replies he can do nothing. What say Billy you were the one who took action. He is instead referred to some black-pit email site where of course nothing will ever happen. Exactly what recourse does poor Billy have to ensure that the rules are applied evenly and not in a half-hazard seeminly discriminatory fashion?

Mind you this is all hypothetical for the sake of creative discussion.

Have fun!

Billy would know, even hypothetically, that discussing moderation is grounds for additional Infraction points as well as a possible forum suspension.

Hypothetically, if Billy mentioned someone by name or by inference in a personal attack or negative way, then it is a violation of the forum TOS. It is also a violation for Billy to discuss, hypothetically, any action on the forums that the moderators may take against him. Hypothetically speaking of course. ;)

LOL.... can't be punished for a hypothetical. This is an intellectual thought discussion and involved no real life references or thoughts or situations. Any similarity to any real life situation is merely coincidental.

GMs act on reported posts, and your interpretation of who violated what rule may not be the same as theirs.

What you should have done is reported a post you felt was inappropriate, and not engaged in an inappropriate post of your own.

Don't assume you are overly-cunning or that Cryptic is stupid. Using the word "hypothetical" after getting one of your posts edited (and a possible Infraction Point) does not hide your intent for this thread. Cryptic doesn't need to worry about hypotheticals if they feel you're intentionally breaking one of their rules.

Did Billy bother to "report" the post that Billy eventually mimicked?

Ok normally I am very tolerant of Grammar. Heaven knows I've typoed up storms before and butchered sentence structure. Hell this reply probably isn't proper in some way.

That being said I am having a great deal of difficulty wrapping my mind around the word "someelse". That is such an evil word. It literally makes my mind stop when trying to process it.

Ahhh... stupid has nothing to do with it. There is no proof I am referring to any real life event. In fact I am not. Irregardless of that fact without proof there can be no guilt (at least in the legal system).

Hence why this is an intellectual discussion. In may in fact be that my original post has nothing to do with what I am really after. It could be that I find these kinds of discussions interesting or that I am amused at what assumptions people may jump to based on their own perceptions. Which in fact has already happened in this thread.

My real intent was to see what people would come up with based on this. If, and I am not admitting to anything here so as to violate no rules, I did get a warning I could care less. Its a game forum in a virtual world need I say more.

However, the sociology of the place is amazing and I occasionally engage in these thought threads to satisfy my own cravings.

    So there you have it.

    Have a nice night all.

    Billy did......

Then Billy needs to get BIlly's friends to report the same post for the same reason.

Sadly Billy has no friends. No one loves Billy. Billy's only outlet was this game and its forums and now they have turned against him. What is poor Billy to do?

Please read my post just previous to this one.

Ah. Ok. I was just pointing out that in your hypothetical ... if you report the offending post and it gets no action ... you may have more success if you get multiple posters to report the offending post. You get more moderation that way.

This feedback is from extensive experience with the Champions Online forums which are run very similar to these forums.

LOL no problem I am just bored at work and killing time. Hmm I wonder if typing the wored bored on an online forum is gonna get me creamed tonight? Ok maybe that needs some explanation. I am an ER physician at work at the moment and "bored" is the kiss of death. LOL...here's hoping.

I'd tell Billy not to worry about such trivial things, and put as much pursuit into getting good at something For instance, baseball for a certain team in Philadelphia.
I hear that if you're really good, you'll get a 125 million dollar contract.

Hypothetically speaking, Bobby, who is enjoying how much Billy is hurting over this, might report Billy's new infractions.

Hypothetically speaking then the forum mods would have to step in and close the thread discussing the action because in this theoretical situation Billy was reportedly told his options by the moderator in question.

Now I am not saying any of this could actually happen, but ... oh
