"Prepare to die, Starfleet!"

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
"We are the (insert randomly generated npc race you've never heard of), we are the most powerful in the universe!"

Cryptic, this is the stupidest dialogue I have ever seen. A five yearold with a toy gun and down's syndrome wouldn't think to say something this fecal.

Please change it now before I log in again and I'll forget this whole incident.

That would be fine! I don't mind being attacked without provocation, but at least have the npcs tell me something that doesn't sound idiotic. For example:

"Your vessel is hereby be seized under the Ferengi salvage code!"

"You have trespassed on a sacred place, our religion demands that you be cleansed!"

"We see through the Federation lies of friendship and we know you are here to subjugate us, we will fight to the last!"

But please, no goddamn "WE R DA GREATEST PREPARE TO DIE LOL" nonsense.

It sounds like it was written for Nausicaans. They are the TRIBBLE bullies of the Trek universe. Even Klingons have more style.

For such minor powers that would probably constitute their entire starfleet...

In fact add that to the list of things that is wrong with STO.

After maybe a quarter of one of those missions you would think they would be screaming for peace. How cool would it be to enter a sector where this aggressive race simply attacks. After disabling or destroying a few of their vessels they become much more willing to talk and you can then proceed more diplomatically.

Wouldn't that be more Star Trek?

Which should be a choice for the player/captain. Some people might proceed like that but compare teh existing option to the scenario I just presented. Which is more interesting?

Or the spacing is all wrong "hello captaincastogere they have must been stopped. do all you can to stop the threat"

Threat? what threat?........lets see 6 waves with at least 9-15 ships with one bad ole puny me.....and they still die?

Hmmm, me thinks they havn't had their capt pants on that paticular day.

Maybe they should have a new threat scale based on how many of their bretheren you kill. The more you kill, the more they come after you...kinda like a GTA relations scale bar.

the only thing that gets me is when the BORG are using "ZOMGZ, I KEEL YOO!" dialogue. Or even better, when they have a "secret base" on a planet because they want to "incorporate them into their emipre."

FFS, give me some REAL borg!! "Resistance is futile" and "You will be assimilated." Wouldn't that make more sense to hear before you go to ramming speed on the cube in front of you? ;)

We are the Borg. We want to talk about adding your individual and technological distinctiveness to our own. Diplomacy is possible.

Nausicaans are villains you face in this game. I fought them in the B'Tran like two days ago.

The dialog shortcomings could be excused if you were facing Pakleds.

"We are strong. We make your ship not go. Prepare to be weak."

I'd just be happy if the mission text generator understood the difference between Romulan and Romulans.

Sometimes when I read the text in this game, another game's scene runs through my mind:

Anzanti Zhug: I am Anzanti Zhug, leader of Zhugs, very powerful, very skilled hunters. It would be very smart of you to tell me where the criminal Jedi has gone. And do speak very quick, my patience is very low.

Atton Rand: Anybody here catch that? All I understood was 'very'.

Bao-Dur: I think he wanted us to give up the General to his poorly-trained collection of bounty hunters.

Atton Rand: Ah. Well, that would explain it. Which one do you want?

Bao-Dur: I'll take the stupid one who decided to threaten us rather than shoot us when he had the chance.

You do realize he was saying that the dialog sounds like it was written by Nausicaans, right? Which, btw, looked better in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. lol
