Stutter / Lag

Hi all,

I have been reading this morning about all the stutter / lag issues. I think my problem is a stutter problem. If I am in a space station and am running ... every third step the game slows way down then speeds up again. Same in space, My framerate is constant at 60 fps

So i tried turning off AA, dynamic lightiing, shadows etc as suggested in all the threads I have read with no result. Tried tuning all graphics down to min and still have issue.

My son's computer (about 6 years older than mine) runs the game flawlessly -- settings are a bit lower as appropriate to the age of his computer. But it looks good and is very smooth.

So I am trying to figure out where to look next. Our connection must be good (my son runs this great on the same conncecttion). Graphics dont seem to be the issue. I was wondering if anyone with similar specs or set up to me are able to run STO well. It must be something with my computer but I can't seem to isolate it.

NVIDIA GTX 260 SLI 197.45 drivers
Intel 920 quad core
Win 7 64 bit
3 gb memory
Asus MB

Any help would be great. Not playable as is. Are there oher tools that can help me figure this out

I'm running W7N64 as well and have had similar issue at the release - my connection was rubber banding -
    resulting in a "stuttering" client.

On my 2nd PC, all was fine.

Turned out to be the <insert inapprobiate word here> W7 network connection.

I have de-activated the toledo and IPv6 and all the other usless W7 "network" improvments, since then,
this PC is running smothly as well, over a wireless connection ;)

would it be possible to tell us which things you disabled and where (e.g., process window, etc). I don't think this is my video card so your solution seems more reasonable. I'm pretty good a working the technical issues but I'm not a network guy. So this could be a big help to a lot of us

Have you tried limiting your framerate to 30 instead of 60? That made a huge difference on mine (I have an ATI HD 4870 with 1GB ram).

30fps limiit did not work. not really a framerate issue though. It is like the game pause every 2 sec or so. When I am on the spacestation, I run for 2 sec and then it is like I just stop running then start again. Everyone around me does it to. Very annoying. Not really playable

The network solution is interesting. Need his details though.

Were you on Win 7 ... 64 bit?

Is it possible that this is a network issue? win 7 network and the game. I've tried pretty much all of the graphics tricks suggested in the threads. Still have my issues.

It is like the game sloooooooows down then speeds up again every 3 seocond or so

Any help would be great ... About to cancel my subscription. Just not playable like this
