A new Fleet Action DS9?
A new Fleet Escort? (00:33 in the trailer)
And the debris field in the background....
Not to rain on the parade or anything, but those debris fields in Fleet Actions really mess with frame rates. Can we get less debris?
Comments
Of course the debris is unrealistically large, everything in this game is, except for the ships themselves, have you not seen the interior of the ships bridges.
Now before any one says it, I understand the reasons for interiors to be so big but they shouldn't have to be that big and I have no idea why the space debris has to be so massive
Some of the scaling problems are just silly. DS9 is at least five times too large.
Maybe it's not that DS9 is too big but that the ships are too small? Seriously I have seen my Galaxy and later Sovereign class ships beside shuttles and escape pods and they look way too big compared to my ships.
There was a space part? Can I have it back! I want the space part!
I knew there was something missing.
...also i see a lot of Dominion Ships in the Trailer but on the Ground there are only Cardassians (and a lot of Holograms that have just as much Health... which is stupid by itself.)
The station had an inconsistent scale through the series. My assumption is that made it as close to scale with the Defiant as possible and they seem to have used the canon dimensions for the ships.

that is the scale i'd like to see
... Hehehe, lets see if anyone else picks up on the fact that the scale is different in all those pics.:D
Anyway, the smaller ships (runabouts, shuttles, pods) are scaled a bit larger for gameplay purposes.
The ships themselves however (from Miranda to Galaxy to Sovereign, to Defiant, to every canon ship we see) are scaled correctly amongst themselves.
DS9, as stated above (and noted in those pics) was scaled willy nilly depending on the ships around it during the series, so its been viewed as "so small its laughable" to "slightly smaller than it is in-game" depending on what was docked with it.
The Defiant in the game is way too small compared to DS9, it is the size that a runabout should be. The airlock that the Defiant docks with in the show is so big in this game that the Defiant can fit inside it. If DS9 in game had runabout pads the Defiant could almost fit in those as well, if it weren't for its warp nacelles.
But I have no problem with DS9 being too big, unlike the ships the comically overly huge interiors match with the exteriors. I guess by the 25th Century Federation star ship bridges are built with TARDIS like technology, you know "Bigger on the inside"
The Defiant isn't THAT much bigger than a runabout, using official scales.
I guess it isn't, and I am not sure if we ever saw the defiant and a runabout in the same shot, not counting the shrunken runabout in Ds9's "One Little Ship".
But the runabout has a cockpit, sleeping area, and an interchangeable aft section, and is considered crowded if there are more than 6 people in it. While the Defiant has 5 decks and a bridge that is only a little smaller than the total size of the inside of a runabout. Well actually the STO defiant bridge probably is the same size as a runabout.
But anyway, the ships in STO do look like they are proportional to each other, it just it looks like when compared to DS9 the runabouts look like they should be the size of the Defiant, the Defiant should be the Size of the Galaxy class and the Galaxy class should be bigger, or the ships should stay the same size and DS9 should be smaller.
