Fleet Owned Starbases

I'm new to the MMORPG scene, but my friends aren't. I've heard of the other games having "Guild Halls". I would love to see an option for a fleet to buy their own starbase. I really think that would be a cool addition to this game. I haven't seen anything about it listed or discussed anywhere. If it already has been talked about, then I'm all for it. If it hasn't, then let's make some noise and see if maybe one day in the future it can be added on. Hopefully for a modest fee. And maybe while they're at it, maybe they could arrange to make the fleet banks a little bit bigger too. At a cost of 1.2 million credits per tab, I really think there should be more storage room than what they give.

    It has been discussed to death during beta. In short.

    - People liked the idea of having "guildhalls"
    - Some people want capturable starbases that a fleet can fight for (a bit a la warhammer, but with 'vulnerable' times)
    - Some people just want 'offices' in a starbase or just a starbase instance that can not be attacked (think Captain's table but then for 1 fleet)

    i dont care if it atackable or not if it is defendable the game would be so awesome. people would come back in droves. fleets would come back and so would the fleet members. alot of fleets lost alot of members. over half of almost every fleet is gone. and unless cryptic does something like the star bases in game i dont think game going to last more then 18 months.

    If not Fleet-owned stations, at least fleet-owned "quarters" of some sort. There seems to be more than enough room.."possibilities", etc. A turbo lift could take a Captain to his or her Fleet's own floor complete with amenities...

    minigames, fleet only vendors, minor pve buffs, oh and be able to decorate it too :D

    Another good idea would be an in game searchable Fleet recruitment tab. The search results would list:
    1.) Fleet name
    2.) Officers
    3.) General fleet stats (how many are online, what numbers and ranks are these people)
    4.) Officer written description of the fleet.
    6.) Do they have their own Station! :)

    The more the topic is discussed, the greater the likelihood that Cryptic will take notice that we want it. Why do we want it? I think that varies by person. Some for guildhalls, some as ways to vastly extend game-play (e.g., crafting, player housing, PvE, PvP, etc.).

    So, if you want to see them, be sure to either add your thoughts on them, or just bump the thread that gives the biggest bang for the buck. As far as I know, there's only 2 active threads discussing various implementations at the moment.

    wasn't this supposed to be in the game? I definitely remember Cryptic saying this would be a feature. But anyway lets try and get them to do it now. I think the best way to implement this would be to have certain systems available that let you construct either a starbase or a base on a planet surface. Each system has multiple instances so every1 can get the location they want.

    Also location should mean something. Such as having a system in federation space means it will be safe but maybe you dont get much of a bonus for it. But if its say near the klingon border there could be systems their that are constantly fought over for resources, so you get bonuses for having a base their but you could be in danger or a fleet on the other side attacking.

    There are also those other stations/docks/structures floating around Sol...heck, it's outer space - you can stick 'em anywhere.

    This has been on the wish of many people. Alone with the ability to tier up a ships. Stuff I would to see is like six pages long. Many Star Trek fans did not like the idea they were basically forced to upgrade to a new ship. The story line of of a captain staying with one ship for very long time is common in Star Trek. Kirk was said to be the captain of the Enterprise for 30 years,

    Dumb idea. Who wants to see 1000 starbases littering the landscape in addition to the strain they will add to the servers?

    so make 6-10 premade locations for a starbase and instance it.

    Every Starbase can live in its own instance, accessible by a transwarp gate. Ideas aren't "dumb", they're merely challenges to finding a workable solution that's in canon.

    Also, all of those players were already somewhere anyway, so it's not going to add strain to the servers. Unless it retains players, and that's a strain I think we'd all like.

    I like the fleet owned starbase idea.

    I would also like to see some kind of personal dwelling that we can personalize. Maybe our ship, a ready room on our ship, or an apartment on Risa.

    if not a fleet owned star-base, a star-base with nothing but fleet- guildhalls.... for say... 20 fleets in one spot and 20 in another.....i don't know lol

    Every sector should have an outpost that accomdates its defense fleets and fleets could from that grid determine what sector they were a defense fleet for. Using that grid, this so called 'war' could actually expand and not be a stagnate instance grind like it is now.

    Break it down even further and have a fleet that is the planetary defense for a sector. Each sector has a named planet now. This would all be more engaging if we had more playable factions though. From Cardassian, Jem Hadar to Romulan or Maquis. They all had goals and agendas.

    This would be nice in the short term. This is something everyone has been asking for. To do this though a fleet should earn this privilage. They have some of the things in place to do this. For example: Every player can earn starfleet prestige and energy credits for their fleet by fight in fleetmode (this ideal is one of cryptic own from city of heroes) in this mode a normal players prestige and energy credits would be reduced when fighting in this mode (lower level player wouldn't be as affected). Once a fleet has earned the prestige they can start to craft their own starbase rather than buying one. In order to craft a starbase though a fleet will need some commodoties like: communication arrays, alloy, sensor array, sheild grid and etc.... each having their monthly energy credit. I would also hope that the starbase will be more functional than starships bridge (holodeck, quarters, sickbay and etc..) I would like to see option for fleets to build other things also like shipyard, outpost, science station, engineering facility, defense turrents and etc.....I think in the long term though you will need to allow fleets to have their own block of space. Nothing would make fleets happy than to warp in and see a space that is operated by your own fleet. The Sol system look great that would be nice to have.

    You should only be able to see your fleet space/starbase. It doesn't make sense to see a million starbase that would **** me off.

    This is a brilliant idea and one they could use. In coh they used a portal didn't want to see a huge portal in the middle of space.

    ill post here what i posted in so many other threads bout this, ide rather have a colony for fleets, on a well known planet, without loading so that you could have ground battles vs other fleet colonies ... and have some defenses you can modify as a whole ... at least this would feel more usefull to me then fleet starbases ... and would prob take up less space

    For me, I reckon each fleet should have a Capital Ship as their "guild housing". This should be introduced around the same time as Bridge Functionality - using the "Transporter Room" to go to the Captial Ship (thus giving people cause to use their ship interiors).

    I'd also consider not having fleet housing - instead branch those functions out to an individuals own ship.

    I would like to see something like this.

    And I agree with people saying its a nice thing, a place to hang your hat so to speak.

    Think they are heading in the right direction with the interiors, but the fleets seem to be somewhat left out.
