More Ship Customization Options

Okay. So while it's nice to be able to mix up parts for 3 classes at your tier, I really think ship customization should be a bit deeper then that.

*Allow us to resize/scale/move/rotate components:

Example:

Let's say I wanted the Sovereign to have longer nacelles and a thinner saucer. It would be nice if we could make these changes in-game. Move the nacelle struts forward a little bit, things like this.

*Allow us to remove parts.

Example:

Let's say I was building a cruiser, but I wanted to build it with 1 nacelle. Like the Saladin-class at Tier 2. I have the Constitution parts--nacelles, struts, stardrive, neck, saucer..but I want to build a Saladin so I only need saucer, neck, nacelle. I could do this if I could remove/reposition parts.

*Allow us to mix/match for every previous tier:

Example:

Now let's say I'm a huge fan of single-nacelled ships (And I'm not, it's an example) and I want to build the Freedom-class at Captain stage. I have the Galaxy saucer and nacelle and the Constitution neck. It would be nice to combine all of these parts to build the Freedom-class, along with being able to move the parts around a bit and the likes.

Using all of the above I would be able to do things like:

Build the Nebula-class (Sort of) at Captain.

Galaxy saucer, Galaxy hull, no neck, Galaxy pylons (inverted), galaxy nacelles (inverted).

This would be a great option, and would add a lot of flexibility to the game, as well as the "Feel" of having a LOT more ships to chose from. The list of "Kitbashes" you could put together would be near-endless, and that would add a LOT to the game, in my opinion. We know from the canon that the Federation did tend to mix and match a lot of parts to build some pretty off-the-wall ships, and I think that should be reflected a bit better in game.

What do y'all think?

Ultimately, I'd like to see the form of ships resulting from configuration of their various components:

Engines, Power Source, Computer/Electronics, Crew Quarters, Weapons, Storage, etc.

Obviously there would be a variety of each type component available and the choice of components and their configuration would result in the overall shape of the ship..

Optional hull configurations to house the various components and finishes (skins) would complete the overall look of the ship.

    That's my dream..

This does sound wonderful and I would love to see it happen, but that would require tons of backend work. Maybe in the future it would be an option but the devs should really focus on the content that they are putting out.

I don't know if it would require as much work as we think, especially since Cryptic is already so good about scaling of individual parts, such as in their character creators. Rotation, removal and moving around of parts wouldn't be any more difficult then the actual scaling (Scaling would probably be harder then moving/rotating/removal, since it requires alteration of the model itself), but I think it would be great to have a 100% unique ship, or to be able to "build" canon ships that were little more then kitbashes to begin with.

If Cryptic was really nice, they could even add in pods that we could put on the ships.

    Personally, I'd love to build a Springfield-class.

Cheyenne saucer, rescaled Galaxy hull and struts, neck removed, Cheyenne saucer.

    Or a New Orleans.

Cheyenne saucer, rescaled Galaxy hull, neck removed, moved/rescaled Cheyenne struts, rescaled Galaxy nacelles

    Possibilities are endless.
