When I purchased this game, I expected so much more. I know its only a few months after release, but in that short amount of time I managed to take 3 characters to RA. This is the first game I have ever played where I reached end game. Most MMO's run out of content before you hit your last level. I don't hate this game, but it needs more time to mature. I have hopes that one day this game will meet the expectations that I have. So before I leave, I wish to paint a picture of the type of ST MMO I had expected.

First, I didn't expect to hit max level in under 3 weeks time. I think a time in grade should be utilized to promote. I want to receive my missions from federation HQ that sends me everywhere, not just the gamma quadrant. While in route to my assigned mission, I want to receive transmissions from lower level players requesting help on there current mission. Once I reach my designated mission, I want to establish a true orbit and go to a bridge view where I need to notify HQ that I have reached my destination and await further instructions. If I need to beam down to the planet, then I should have to assemble my away team and walk to the transporter room. If HQ has no new missions for me, then I would like to be able to contract out services to any race requiring transport for legitimate reasons. I want missions that doesn't even require me to go anywhere, but simply reclaim my ship from any invaders or make minor repairs from previous battles. If my ship is severely damaged, then I need to hobble my broken TRIBBLE to the closest star base for repairs. I want to see laws that govern our actions with a penalty for violating them.

I know this is a lot to ask for, and this is not a rage quit post. Its simply my way of saying that I'm done till I can feel like a true star ship captain. Where I can develop the name of my ship to ring through out space as being a hero or strike fear in those that oppose me. Consider this, if the series and movies represented everything we have done in this game so far. Then star trek would have ended with Kirk.

This is the image I have of a star trek MMO. Hopefully, in a year or so, this game will meet my expectations and be worthy of a monthly subscription.

I wish you all a fond farewell and hope you enjoy the game so far.

Admiral Odamen of the USS Duecalion
Admiral Rastin of the USS Dauntalus
Admiral Talon of the USS Calypso

God Speed Captains!

Take care. I hope this game is still here when you come back.

I am also an Admiral and I am in the same situation you find your self in, however I am not quite ready to quit just yet, I'm getting there though:(

My main concern is that if too many people quit the game will die and with it any hope of coming back to it.

And before any one else asks.

Can I haz ur stuff? :D just kidding I hate when people say that

How about you stop playing the game 24/7 and speed ranking your characters and play it at a more relaxed pace?

I have real life obligations and when I added STO to my life when it was launched in February, I've ended up only being able to play it 5 hours a weel or so and have only managed lt. commander on one character.

Perhaps you need to do the same and get a life.

I can't speak for the OP but I have never reached end game on an MMO before this. I started playing in March and only an hour or so every few days, a few more hours every now and then on the week end. Nothing too crazy, plenty of time for a life, but I still made it to Rear Admiral way too fast.

Wow, How can you tell someone to get a life without even knowing a thing about them? For your information, I am a married father of 3, work full time and take online classes. It just so happens that my days off fall on the weekday, days my wife is at work and the children are in school! I only played twice a week but managed to get at least 10 hours in during those two days. All three characters accomplished every quest available. I have a life, if you cant get your characters any furthure than commander since release. Then you need to learn how to play the game and stop accusing others of not having a life!

I know how to play the game. You're playing it too damn fast. Have you ranked up all your BOs?

I work full time, have a very active social life, and jog twice a day for about an hour each time.

I have three RA5s, and they're sitting there collecting dust. I'm playing my Klingons now, and even those are nearly maxed out.

Not everyone has difficulty grasping simple concepts such as efficient use of play time, and not everyone sits in Sol Starbase and chats half the night away. Some people like to get out there and level as quickly as possible.

For that, you gotta be an ultra-douche and say "Get a life"? Maybe you just suck at the game, or at things in general.

You shouldn't believe that everyone is as full of venom, bitterness, and fail as you are.

Ah, so this is your problem. Why do you feel the need to rank up all your BO's? No reason to take a tactical officer to commander if your flying a science ship. Get the skills you need, not all the skills you might need!

Another issue that could help you is play the game and stop posting so much in the forums. Ive only made maybe half a dozen posts on the forums since this game went live. How many posts does it take to become a senior member?

I'm not here to argue with you, the purpose of my post was to hopefully be viewed by someone within the development chain. So that one day, this game could become the game I had hoped for. The last thing I want is some troll to cause my post to become locked or deleted.

A good rule of thumb when it comes to internet usage. Only say things your willing to say directly to their face. Its cowardly to speak that way safely behind a monitor.

I've been playing since head start, and I'm only Captain 5. I only play a couple of times a week myself. Makes for a more enriched experience, I don't find myself leveling too fast at all.

You're the one *****ing about the game going to fast for you. Maybe if you were'nt going from one point to another point in every mission on super-fast full impulse to finish the mission as fast as possible you wouldn't be done so fast. Did you even stop and collect the sensor anomolies in each mission? Did you explore the Volanis Cluster? Did you fully train up all of your Bridge Officers?

Either you're spending way too much time playing STO and not spending enough time with your wife n kids, or you've been making shortcuts in the game. Because you obviously can't be doing both to have 3 fully complete RA5 characters with fully trained BOs and fully equipped ships in less than 3 months.

When I'm spending time with my wife, visiting the forums is the closest to actually playing STO I can get.

As I said, I am not going to argue with you. I find it hard to believe that your married treating people the way you do. Just understand, you cant talk to people that way. It doesnt matter if they live half way across the country from you. Treat people the way you want to be treated.

I can't believe you're married & have 3 kids when you're spending 10 hrs a day playing a video game. Help with the housework on your days off or something... Or are that what the 3 kids are for? ;-)

Dude stop! You starting to make yourself look like a fool. I didnt say I spent 10 hours a day playing. I said I spent 10 hours playing during my two days off. That would be a total of 10 hours a week! Since I have managed to correct you, I feel no need to respond to the rest of your immature post.

Who's immature? I suggested ways you can get more play time out of your game and you're the one who doesn't believe I can be married.

I think you like ignoring the helpful parts of people's posts just to focus on the bad parts.

I believe my very first post stated that I had 3 maxed out characters. The only way I can get more "play time" is to delete my characters and start over or purchase more character slots. I have addressed each of your statements, and each time it shows that you failed to read my previous posts. So my question is, did you even read my initial post? Do you understand what I was trying to say with it? Do you realize that you cant talk to people like that? Is your health insurance policy up to date? If you talk to people like that face to face, life is going to get expensive!

    Wow. Just...wow.

This far after launch people are STILL saying "you played too fast" when someone gets to RA and runs out of things to do?

I play 7-8 hours a week and have done since headstart and I have 2 RAs now. This game is easy, quick and light on content and with no effort you can level a character to max in a few weeks. It took me 6 months to get a hero to 50 in CoH. It took me a little over 4 weeks in this game based on an extremely casual game play schedule.

Seriously, are you saying anyone that doesn't spend half their time chatting or hovering over an exchange console has rushed?

Telling someone they need to get a life tells me 2 important things about you.

    1) You're a troll
    and
    2) You are really bad at this game

And whilst quit threads are not allowed and this one will get closed, his feedback is absolutely fair.

I do find leveling to be way too fast as well.
From the Headstart weekend to 4/20, casual play, and I've made it to RA5 already. It took me 5 years of casual play and alt-jumping to make cap in other MMO's.
We do need more to do and slower leveling.

People like you make me laugh. You brighten my day because I think, ha I am better than this person who sits and bashed people on the internet when in real life they wouldnt even look bad at a person because they would get murdered. Thank you for making my day :)

    LOL

Still, how often are these games meant to be played? I never really considered the answer myself. Is it meant to be played a couple of times a week? Is it intended to be played every day?

Hell, I didn't even play Final Fantasy XIII every day, and that game was way better than this one. Hmmm . . . Not sure what the answer might be.

I love when people who don't even know each other start accusing each other of playing a MMO the "wrong way" or "too fast". It's cute. ;)

Basically any MMO that will let someone, anyone, manage to get even a single top level character in a matter of a few days or weeks is a relative failure in my book. STO does in fact have this problem. I don't consider myself a "hardcore" MMO player by any means (I've managed to play this game maybe 5-10 hours a week since launch) and I've actually found myself actively AVOIDING playing this game in that time for fear that I feel like I'm racing through it so quick that I'll soon have no reason to want to play it anymore. I've never played any other MMO where I actively didn't want to blink because I'd feel like I'd miss it all and it'd be over too quick. :(

I like this game but at this point it either needs a lot more content or the average pace of leveling needs to be slowed down quite a bit. Far too many people are topping out way too quick. The Devs have said they only expect it to take 80 hours for people to hit the level cap - that's the real problem here.

I also have ot agree with alot of what the OP says. All other MMO's i have played have taken 6 months minimum to reach end game. STO took me oh 7 working days. 36 hours play. I was playing alot but heck who does not when a new game comes out let alone Star Trek. Since a week after launch i have being doing the same dailys and other small basic content. I am sorry to say this game has 5% of content that most F2P MMO's have. Allods,Reqieum, BOI all of these have so much more content. (And iam not saying these are ether good or bad F2P's)

The game also really lacks that Trek feel. Only a handfull of missions feel like Star Trek. It is a shame. Lets hope that with another 12 months of this beta (This is paid beta dont kid yourselves lol) we should have a fairly decent MMO.

LMAO this is great. Perhaps i should play once every two weeks then i will feel fulfilled. Do you recon they will offer 31 days of game play times on time spend logged in instead of monthly>? :). This way we could get our moneys worth.
